I am looking into ordering some similar clasps that look like this:
http://www.canadianbuckle.com/graphics/photo_22.gif

I can only purchace these in bulk and since I dont want to be stuck with 10,000 of these I wanted to see if there was any intrest in them here.

Since these are also only vaguely simmilar to the originals I was also looking into having them made from a site that does custom buckles. Now is there an intrest for this option as well.

I don't know what the price for either of these will be as of yet, but the custom made ones will probably be a little more expensive. I will be getting samples of the first one in soon and will post what they actually look like when I get them.

I am probably look into the custom ones first and fall back to the simmilar ones if it doesn't work out.

actually the clasps on john's duster are plastic slide clips. they can be found at sporting goods stores or in the notions dept. of any fabric store. they are realitivly cheap and easy to come by. get thee to either joANN fabrics or handcocks. or you can try walmart.

good luck

his black over coat has 4 metal clasps similar to a horses surcingle. These are nearly impossible to find especially at any local store. John red vest has those black plastic clips that you talk about, however.

Kassbek - have you thought about posting this in the Aliens Threads R Us forum here in the community to get advice from the other people who make Farscape Costumes?? http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=73

Hey Kassbek,

Jul's right about posting in the Alien Threads R Us category, but I believe that the majority of the serious costumers on this board probably visit the Farscape costuming board where you started the discussion of this project. John's overcoat is such a specialized item that only a small percentage of people are probably going to be interested in making it. And at 4 clips per coat you'd need 2,500 people to buy out your 10,000 piece order. Honestly, I'd be pretty surprised if you could find 50 people who are that high level a costumer that they'd do it. I don't mean to throw a damper on your plan, but I'd hate to see you stuck with a big investment in specialized clips that no one will need.

i actually get these kind of clasps for my leather working. it looks like the ones on his coat are a smokey nickle finish. the ones that we get are bright nickle. you may be able to get them coated. anyway, they are available through ohio travel bag. you can get them by the piece from this company. they are very inexpensive.

check it out
