Hi, Newbie here and we were wondering the above question. We're 6 epi from finishing season one and we're wondering if we missed something. I don't remember an announcement that she's prego it was just mentioned like it was no big deal. When did she get prego and who's the father?
Thanks!

It happend in "they've got a secret"
D'Argo kicked open the PeaceKeeper "condom" that was holding back the "Talyn-seed" and got sucked out into space...
Moya started diverting all her systems to nurture the just-conceived Talyn, nearly killing the crew AND Pilot in the process.
Ultimately John figured out what was up and they spent the rest of the season protecting Moya and her unborn offspring...
The Father?
Well, from a certain point of view, one could say Crais. It was a P/K experiment.

I don't think there really is, technically speaking, a father. Moya was impregnated, by accident, to create a hybrid leviathan that had weapons. So I guess some Peacekeeper tech somewhere that created the "seed" would be the father...

Thank you both! Now I remember, sometimes we watch 4 epi in one night so I tend to forget some stuff, plus I'm pregnant myself and sometimes (most times) can't think straight!

That paints a very disturbing mental image.
The Uncharted Territories. Where men are men and Leviathans are scared.

That's why p/k uniforms use buckels. Leviathans can hear a zipper a parsec away!
And you're welcome Balėtarma, and congratulations!

The *shield* that D'Argo accidentally broke was more analgous to a diaphram. The PKs had apparently put *sperm?* into Moya but Velorek sabotouged the project by having the shield installed. One could suppose that since the PKs had leviathans of both sexes under their control, that *sperm?* was obtained from one of their males.
However D'Argo let it loose, so when they ask *who's your Daddy?* in some sense, it's D'Argo. :-)

the interesting part of Talyn's conception and delivery for me is the genetics.Moya is a biomechanoid(whatever that really means. )She is a living creature but is apparently able to create metal(I think) DRDS, and appears to be growing various stages of transport pods in the maintainence bay. Also the light fixtures, the control console on command, the cell doors etc are (I believe) supposed to have been created/develped by Moya--not installed by Sebaceans.--so she has some capability of making and molding metals.
The PK ships, as far as I know, are man-made or rather Sebacean made. They are not organic or living.- right? So how did they pass along to Talyn the ability to create a cannon and other weapons.?
You can do some strange things with genetic tinkering and gene splicing. Such unusual things as splicing in a bioluminescence gene from a deep water organism and getting mice and rabbits that glow in the dark. The DNA mad scientist claimed to be working on DNA at the *quantum* level. But I cannot conceive of a gene or DNA sequence that would result in an operational weapon just created by a living being.
Yes I know, it's science fiction and if you can suspend disbelief long enough to accept a living ship that provides water, air, gravity, travels way FTL and still is vulnerable to plants and fungus and so forth, I should be able to accept an offspring that can arm itself----but how???????

Well the gene tampering is the hole thing. And in responce to the thread topic, when D'Argo was down the shaft kicking the shield. You wonder how it can make weapons? Have you not heard of plants animals and insects that can spray poisons?

Ok there are plants, animals and insects that make poisons, toxins, thorns, etc
But a fulkly operational cannon(and what does it shoot?--big yellow balls of of light????--- and other unspecified weapons?????
Animal(as opposed to vegetable or mineral) genes don't code for metallic items(although as I noted before, Moya seems able to create/distill/??? metallic doors and such.)
The writers say the *signature* was passed along. That's not a term usually used for gentic material.
I said I was interested, I didn't say I began to understand what was done.

Personally, I think that as wild and freaky as Chiana can be, I doubt anyone could guess what that girl would Xerox, but if I were forced to guess ...
