In need of a hug.

I just had my sister call me from Chamonix in France (where she is skiing) and she told me that our Uncle had called her from Sydney to tell her that our Aunt had died over the week-end.

My Aunt was an amazing woman with a huge heart. She was generous to a fault and so very full of life and love. She and I were very close - she treated me like the daughter she never had - and I miss her terribly. I am so far from family and my cousin must be feeling awful. He and his Mom very very close. This now only leaves my Uncle (from that generation) as his brother (my Father) died last January. My Uncle had a stroke about 10 years ago and was thoroughly dependent on my Aunt for everything. I won't be surprised if he doesn't die soon too.

I've sat here for the last hour blubbering all over my keyboard. I need a hug from my FMD family.

I just called my cousin and had a brief chat. He's pretty upset, as are his boys to lose their grandmother.

Life is really strange. One always feels one has all the time in the world to be with friends and relatives - but the truth is, that none of us know when our meter will run out and won't accept any more quarters.
