We had all better vote ONCE  per day to get it back on the list then.

I think there must have been significant "vote stuffing" for the BBC to have done this. The rules are not that explicit, quote "You can vote once a day in each vote category". That raises the question of a single computer in a household with several individual Scapers who wish to vote. If they did what is necessary to allow each individual to vote once a day is that cheating? According to the BBC rules it is not. Whether that leeway has been abused or interpreted as cheating is another matter. I'ts a very difficult area to track with people having dynamic IP address assignment, removing cookies etc. So I suspect they must have very strong evidence of irregularities. When it comes down to basics all of these on-line voting systems rely on people being honest.

I Vote At Home And Then At Work The Same Day....is That Cheating Coz As Far As Im Concerned I Vote For My Lazy Ass Boyfreind Who Will Forget To Do It Himself....the Bbc Cant Possibly Know Its The Same Person Surely...i Mean I Know There 'big Bad Aunitie' But Comeon!!!

In Fact Come To Think Of It....if The Danish Poll Lets Me In To Vote Twice In The Same Day For Ben Browder, I Go Ahead And Do It, And Im Pretty Sure I'm Not Alone...
They Obviously Don't 'refresh ' Like They Should And It Allows You In Less Than 24 Hrs Since Your Last Vote.....is This Deemed As Cheating!?
I Reckon The Bbc Saw That Farscape Was Winning For The Last Four Months And Suspected It Couldn't Possibly Be That Popular..and 'tightened ' The Rules....
Lets Face It, It's Predominantly Young Veiwers Who Are Voting On This Poll, ( Look At The Competition!),
Do You Honestly Think These Kids Arnt Pulling The Same Trick?

Avril Lavigne ( Ten Years Too Young -ten Years Too Late) Is On Radio,,,,,can Day Get Any Worse?
So I suspect they must have very strong evidence of irregularities.
I would very much to see that evidence.... If there even are anything you can call evidence...

Farscape fans cheating on an online vote? Gasp! Say it isn't so! C'mon, from what I've heard, fans are always deleting cookies and voting multiple times. Not that I have any evidence of that with the BBC poll, but I'd be surprised if people *weren't* cheating! I'd also be surprised if other fandoms haven't been cheating as well. To me, these polls have been more of a measure of which fandom can be the most persistent. :)

This is rather much the suck... I'd like to see the evidence as well. For anything Farscape has done I'd be willing to guess The Simpsons may well have done the same. What's the evidence, "wanting a show back disqualifies you because you're crazed fans and thus we believe you would do anything, you weirdos"? Hm... I want to see the real evidence, too.

I went and nominated Farscape (once! :D ).
I clicked on "The Rules" under the disqualification notice and got this:
Your Charts voting - the rules
Updated 16 January 2004, 18.49
The rules
You can vote once a day in each vote category.
Cases of multiple voting face disqualification.
The Editor's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
I guess they got some kind of evidence that there were people voting multiple times. Has anyone had a response as to what evidence prompted Farscape's disqualification? The above rules imply they will not answer queries. But what's to prevent fans of another show from doing a bunch of obvious multiple votes for a competing show and getting it disqualified? Unfortunately, all it takes is one person with bad judgement or intent to cast all the valid votes in question. I have voted from my machine at work and from home in the same day on a few occasions, but pretty much I vote once per day and leave it at that.

Since people have already admitted in this thread to voting at least twice per day, I'd say that counts as evidence of cheating ...
It might also be worth remembering that it's a poll on the children's BBC (CBBC) website. I doubt that the results have any effect on anything or are taken as any serious indication of which shows are more popular among the general population.

I do believe I mentioned this problem might occur in the syfyportal thread... thats what cheating gets you, whoever you are, you're just ruining it for yourself and everyone else. may your arse forever itch and your arms be too short.

I just went to the same web page as you used to vote in the BBC poll. Farscape is no longer an option of course, but farther down where it says "Hey - why isn't this TV programme on the list?" you can write in Farscape and click to nominate it.
I use the link from the first post to the original BBC poll thread.

But I wasn't voting because I expected TPTB to give it serious consideration as to which shows are more popular.
I was voting because every once in a while TPTB at CBBC would send out a news release mentioning the various shows on the list. Farscape would always get a mention - free and very positive publicity.
Now ... we will be lucky if we get back on the list. Never mind that every person who goes to vote on the site will see that Farscape has been disqualified for cheating.
Talk about bad publicity.

Just like I said.
Bad, Bad Publicity.
Busted have won May's message board vote in Your Charts.
You voted the boys as your new fave topic to talk about so for this month only, fans of James, Matt and Charlie can chat about them as much as you want!
Also new on the message board chart is The Simpsons and mobile phones. So get voting for which board you want next month!
In the music charts, Evanescence are still your number one rock band. Although with the least votes, Linkin Park were voted off, replaced by Muse.
And in the pop chart, Darius managed to beat Alistair Griffin to become top of the poll. The UK's Eurovision entry, James Fox, gets this week's new entry and McFly get the boot.
In the TV chart, The Simpsons win the vote, as Farscape was disqualified after evidence of vote cheating.
Click here to see the rules
And after only a week on the chart, Corrie has been chucked out. But instead, ER and Will & Grace have been added to next week's vote.
Elijah Wood returns to the celeb chart
There's still no beating Orlando Bloom in the celeb chart. But maybe new entry Elijah Wood can challenge him? He takes the place of Rupert Grint, who sadly is off the chart again.
Despite Leeds' misfortune this week in the Premiership, Alan Smith gets your vote as a new entry on the sports chart, as Steven Gerrard gets the bench. Once again, Becks remains your fave sports star.
You've had enough of James Bond: Everything or Nothing in the computer game chart and Pro Evolution Soccer is the new entry game that you're all playing.
And the world must have gone mad this week as chocolate was voted off the fave thing chart. Books are still your top of your fave things list and old favourite animals are back on again.
But how long for? Get voting for next week's chart!
Charts are updated every Saturday. The message board chart is updated on the first Saturday of every month.

This is why I expressed my concern over the 'cheating' plans at Sy Fy Portal. We have a reputation to uphold....and Farscape can do well in all these things fairly. We have more than enough people to pull it off.
Let's just hope that whomever has gotten in touch with them is nice and that they might give us another chance.

-Couldn't have said it better myself... I was thinking about multiple voting (cheating) myself, in both the syfy-awards and the BBC-poll, but then I thought about it some more, and came to the conclusion, that the farscape fanbase should be big enough to win no matter what, as I'm still sure it is. It's just a shame that maybe one guy can screw it up for the rest of us. (and it emberrasses me that it could have been me, had I not come to my senses)
There's still the theory that some guy, who dislikes Farscape, has voted for it multiple times, just to get it disqualified. If this is the case, I bet it's one of those opsessed "Simpsons"-fans, just imagine being stuck in second place for so long! I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those nuts who got desperate ;)
Jokes aside, cheating sucks! Now let's just hope that BBC gives us another chance, if we keep asking them to. :) (but politely, and only once a day ;) )

The first thing that crossed my mind when I read the page was that they got sick of Farscape being at the top of the chart every week and so bumped it off for a bit. That's not to say there may not have been "cheating" going on, but that I'm sure people voting for the other shows were using the same tactics.
At the end of the day, like others have said, it gives Farscape and us a bad name, so stick to the rules and we can easily win anyway :) Afterall, Farscape is the best show on the list!
On a completely different topic, can someone clarify the name of the mini, is it "Farscape: Peacekeeper War" or "Farscape: Peacekeepers War"?
Eve :)

For a long time we have advocated only voting once a day as the rules state, but there are always those who feel that they can vote more than once and get away with it.
I for one, feel extremely upset over this. It is not just the reputation of Farscape that was tarnished, but of ALL Farscape fans as well. Every one of us has been tainted with the label 'cheat'. We can't even continue to post Ben and Claudia in the celebrity poll after this and that has closed this door for us for good.
On the other hand, I am less than happy with the BBC and their tactics of posting the same shows and the same celebrities as the "new this week" becuase it was the most requested. That is outright dishonesty, especially when that which was "most requested" was the one that was kicked off as the loser the previous week or two weeks before. It is illogical to think that people would request a show or someone they do not vote for one week as the most requested personality or show the next. So the BBC were doing their own brand of 'cheating'. I also do not believe that ONLY Farscape fans pad the polls.
To the person and persons who 'rigged' the poll I hope you have learned your lesson and know how upset those of us, who have worked so long and hard for Farscape, are with you. You have ruined an almost year long campaign for all of us.

This is bollocks really. Multiple voting goes with their stupid polls territory. Not that I have been doing it. I haven't, but what evidence? Don't tell me the fans of every other show on there isn't doing the same thing. I smell a rat here. You don't think it's to do with their slackness in getting the mini do you? That would be very bad,

I can look at all the porn I want if I felt so inclined (although I wouldn't) but forget about that alternative Euro-centric news source. I might see some truthful reporting about the war in Iraq or something. ;) So no votes from me.. unles..hmm.. the library!

I agree, they should be able to make a system where it's not possible to vote more than once a day, unless you go through some trouble to do it. The first time I voted on the BBC-poll I, unknowingly, might I ad, voted three times in a row, because I didn't think it had registred it, and that was the reason why I was able to vote again. Luckily the two extra votes didn't seem to matter too much to them... (and no, I wasn't the one getting us banned, that episode took place ages ago...)

They probably aren't too bothered to make it impossible to cheat because as Rydra pointed out it's a poll on a childrens news programme part of the website. Plus as has been pointed out anyone can figure out how to delete cookies. I suspect other fandoms are doing the same. :dunno:

I agree. But why to use cookie based system, it is really easy to do IP-add based system. They should look at mirror and ask themself why we are doing this poll so "antique" way. Are they just too lazy or what? :irate:
My point is that if they are gonna make polls, why they don't do it right? And the when one show is winning every week they just make lame excuse of cheating and remove it from poll. I quote: "There's still no beating Orlando Bloom in the celeb chart." So why they just dont' dump him as they did to Farscape?
Anyway, this is just my point of view, don't get offended in anyway...

I still would like to know just what the evidence of cheating is.
The above talk of the BBC site being antiquated or unsecure made me think of another possibility. I have noticed that often when I vote for Farscape then enter it, the page seems to refresh, but the vote doesn't seem to register and the the survey page is unaltered. Then you need to click enter a 2nd or 3rd time before the vote is registered and the results page is displayed. I always assumed the site or internet was slow or quirky and have considered that voting once, but could it be that the BBC poll is counting that as 2-3 votes from one person and that is their evidence of cheating? If so, that would be a technical glitch of the site, but it should effect all shows equally, not just Farscape votes.
I think there must have been some clumsy attempt to overwhelmingly stuff the ballot box, either by some short-sited Farscape fan or someone else. I just wish the BBC would come out and say what it was.
As has been said already, the lesson is to be scrupulous about making sure one vote per person per day. We should have enough people to win the polls without cheating.
