I don't know what happened last night. That will never happen again. I guess I was just having a bad night. It didn't help that we had one big and long thunderstorm. It just seem that it wasn't going to end. But, it did end around 3:00 a.m this morning. I just feel like nothing is working out for me, atleast with this con. I hope you con all forgive me and forget the lost post. It's just that I was really looking forward to going to this con. But, if I can't go, then I hope the rest of you have a great time for me.

I'm glad your feeling better Jen. I know you and your family have been through a lot lately, and that will wear on anyone. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hopefully everything will work out. :hugz:

Sounds like you had a bad night. I hope your day was better. Sometimes I have bad nights too.

Yeah, I did and it didn't help that I last the roommate at the same time because I almost had everything plan out. As to what I was going to do there, what I was going to wear and what fan I was going to have. I was just to ready to go. And now I can't because I don't have a roommate.

Never been to a ScaperCon myself. Yeah, going to one would be an experience of course. But for me, tuning into the TV episodes and hanging out here with every1 is going to have to be good enough. And it is! :)
Thinkin bout it, if I go down there to ScaperCon, I'd probably spend around $500 or so (if I don't do what I'm talking bout below), and be extremely happy for one weekend. But $500 also represents 6 months of savings for me. How should I spend that $500 in order to generate the greatest amount of happiness, for the longest amount of time?
$500 could also buy me:
A) 125 combo meals at McDonalds or any other Fast Food restaurant. This is a month-and-a-half of food for me, or 40 hours of pure-eating satisfaction at 20 minutes per meal.
B) 70 discount movie tickets at $7 each. This adds up to 140 hours of entertainment, which, hour-per-hour, is more than what I would get at three sleepless days of ScaperCon.
C) One new $100 DVD player and 100 DVD rentals at $4 each. This adds up to 200 hours of programming, which is even better. And I still have the DVD player to keep.
D) One round-trip Greyhound bus ticket between New York City and San Francisco. I would basically bus across the United States on different highways during a week and a half period - And meet lots of interesting people and places along the way. (Total cost $238 for ticket plus $262 for tentsite-shower, camera-film, and food.)
E) Or just keeping the money in the bank and having the peace-of-mind (priceless) knowing that there's money saved-up for the next time I get fired.
Thinking things out sometimes makes one feel better when being unable to do stuff like ScaperCon.
:)
Oh yeah, I noticed that these types of events often rely on either volunteeers or low-wage laborers. I've been successful at getting volunteer-duties at 8 of these events already. I'll normally contact them beforehand and offer to help with anything they want (like flyer-dispersal, setup, clean up, registration tables, customer service, graveyard security, parking lot, food-sales, etc.) in exchange for free admission for part of a day, and a patch of floor to lay my sleeping-bag out on to snooze. Dunno if ScaperCon allows this but usually the response is like "We don't gotta pay u right? Yeah okay, no problem."

rustyslinky has a good suggestion there. if all you have to do is hand out a few flyers, see if you want to do that and you'd get admission to the event. you'd be able to hang out with a few scapers (few? try a few thousand...) and then find the FMDers there who i'm sure are just lounging around trying to find other members.

Glad you're feelin' better, Jen. The last several days haven't been peachy for me, either.... and I had sunshine. Got my first really good night's sleep last night for the first time in, like, 5 days.
One day at a time... one step at a time... even if it means tiptoeing. :tiptoe:
It'll get better.
