Sad News from the Whoniverse

Here's some sad news for Doctor Who fans.

Anthony Ainley, who played the role of the Master in Doctor Who during the eighties has passed away.

The unexpected news only came to light after his obituary appeared in the May 10th edition of The Independent. The news is now appearing in several places online; including the official BBC site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho and Outpost Gallifrey: http://www.gallifreyone.com/news.php

Ainley died May 3rd. No cause for his death has been given, but reports do say that he had been in ill health and had been to the hospital just days prior to his death.

I had heard this, but hadn't seen any information other than speculation.

My three favorite actors in Doctor Who were Jon Pertwee, Roger Delgado and Anthony Ainley

Ainlay always was my favourite Master of the two. Although Delgado did rock the role as well, I started watching Who in the Davison years, so Ainlay got precident (I also went to a high school named Ainlay, but that was more co-incidence, plus it was walking distance from my house ;) )

Not Anthony! He was my favorite actor that played The Master...very talented. Ahhh, this is sad.When I saw the heading for this thread I had to hold my breath because I felt sure it would be one of the actors that played The Doctor, but this is indeed sad news.:(
