Can anyone tell me why Scorpius hacks up goo everytime he takes a beating?
Something to do with his mixed heritage, no doubt. But is it ever explained?

He tends to overheat when his system gets taxed.
Scorpius is both Scarran and Sebacean. I tend to think of it as the Scarran half boiling out the Sebacean side -- causing fluid to be expelled. More likely it's just similar to heatstroke.
It should be noted that vomiting is not uncommon in humans suffering heatstroke, as well as cramps, headaches, and muscular weakness. Finishing my check on some emediacal sight ('cause I don't know this stuff off the top of my head) apparently it can cause such neurological symptoms ranging from irritability to coma, tremors, and even weird postural things like limping. Some of the physical signs Scorpius exhibits seem to mimic human reactions to severe heatstroke, which one imagines is what Scorpius is experiencing.
"Gastrointestinal hemorrhage occurs frequently in patients with heatstroke." Since Scorpius' blood is apparently white it looks to me as if on several of these occasions he's spitting blood.
Sad really.

Aww, he's a ruthless, lying, cheating, low-down dirty killer who I LOVE to hate. It's good enough for him... :-)

Opinion differs. :D
But I assumed yours was a genuine question, not just an opportunity to rag on a character. :)

Oh, it was a genuine question. And I'm not ragging on Scorp! He outclasses every single scifi villain EVER. And that's a seriously sweeping statement. But as a tortured character, I have no sympathy for him. He's E*V*I*L, baby!

How many times was he expected to be dead, but he had planned for the problem and was sitting about somewhere safe deciding his next move.... he has a great relationship with john, hates him and no trust, no love....:) and somehow he still managed to stay on moya!!!

Have you ever been really, really hurt? Like big time. When you are in great pain, you don't really care what comes out of your... phlegm, dren, vomit, swear words.
You do feel a bit silly about it afterwards.

Scorpius is so much more than a 'villain'
He is neither evil nor half the things he is labelled as.
His cause demands extreme measures, and he will go to extreme measures if it means the survival of his race.
More noble than 'evil', methinks

Ah, but isn't that the essence of a villain? No one is evil for evil's sake (and if they are, I would argue that's a poorly written villain). All well-written villains want something, and don't care how they get it. They also tend to cloak their desires with altruism. Scorpy would have us believe that he desires to save the Sebacean race, although his TRUE desire is to crush all Scarrans. His hatred of all Scarrans and desire to see them destroyed far eclipses his love of Sebaceans. He is fanatical about his cause to the point where ANY means justify the ends. Murder, torture, even genocide. Noble? Not by itself accurate. A noble villain perhaps? I think I could live with that. But I believe his nobility stems from his better qualities like loyalty and brutal honesty. He keeps his word, and he rewards his friends. He is also willing to sacrifice his own life for the cause (although he has a wicked habit of *almost* dying, and popping up again where you least expect him). Scifi villains don't get better than Scorpius.

I kinda agree more with scorpsik, i think he tries for the greater good, and he just cant be *ssed with the guys that fall for his cause...unless he is someone that he really respects....
but we are not totally sure that if scorpy is doing this for the greater good or just for revenge, we can argue this for a century and we wont have a 100% answer... so we might as well just leave it at that... u cant convince everybody that space goes on forever... someone will ask u to prove it!!
