Something Awful, an internet humour site dedicated to exposing the more freakish side of humanity has added the sci-fi channel to the list of furries, boy lovers and Turkish produced rip offs of Star Trek that it has mocked in the past.

It nice to see them finally reunited with their people.

Some of those are so stupid it's supposed to be, like Black Scorpion, boy Scifi must've been smoking something extra special when they brought that out! But, It's not even remotely near the B rated classics like Evil Dead, Barbarella or A Boy and His Dog. I mean, they could at least show something entertaining if even stupid like Puppet Masters or They Live.

So bad, they're classic!

I think they've actually aired Lair of the White Wyrm ... but I'm still waiting for them to air something else even remotely entertaining or classic when its a B-rater ... They got a whole bunch of pretty cheesy dren like Scare Tatics, that they get away with cause they're supposed to be scaring the snot out of a "real live" bystander with these Black Scorpion props and no brainer set ups ... I just think the guy could have at least seen the movies he's critiziing.

Wow. Those are so amazingly bad. I knew there was a reason I don't watch Skiffy.

Now for some reason I want to see Turkish version of Star Trek called "Turist Omer in Star Trek".

I dunno, I was with that guy, especially on the Boa vs Python. The ads for that make me cringe. But he got some of his facts wrong and never even watched all the movies (not to say I'm gonna, but I'm not writing reviews about them either). He made a disparaging remark about 'atomics' in regards to the phrases use in the SciFi remake of Dune, however, that is what nuke's are called in the Dune books. At that point I realized this writer was just on a rant and fact checking was not involved in what he had to say.

While I will not defend Black Scorpion (other than for their excellent choice of clothing for the females) if you watch original Batman its about the same calibre and there is a healthy following for that.

I do think that someone at skiffy is asleep at the switch if they think that their changes in programming are going to do them more good than bad. I know that about 3 years ago skiffy was great with the afternoon Trek and the Quantum Leap marathons. Good stuff we all liked watching.

Shortly after the 100% CGI commercials things started to change to more sensationalization and less content. Seeings how we are SciFi buffs one would assume that we aren't stupid (aka we can understand the technobabble), thus it should then follow in a rational person's that we arent morons and enjoy plot and character development as much as anything else.

To prove that point I raise the example of Anne Mcaffery. She is the worlds most popular female SciFi author and the majority of her novels focus on characterization. Obviously we all appreciate as it is one of Farscape's major draws. With her as the most popular female SciFi author maybe the folks at skiffy should take a look at what she does that makes her stuff work so good.

Asside from that the writer of the article about skiffy's original movies did not enhance my poor opinion of skiffy's movies, it simply enhanced my poor opinion of him. Cutting other people down like that (in regards to his calling the actors people of pittifully poor talent) doesn't make him look better. In fact it simply causes me to decide he is little more than a ranting bigot who's opinions are both unsubstantiated and fruitless.

Well, AS is more into rants, and insults, because it is a humor site. So they don't really care. You should read the section on Lawsuits and hate mail they get.

Oh, and stick around for Photoshop Phridays.

Indeed. SA's not meant to be taken seriously. It's a humour site with a flavour of sarcastic absurdity.

Just look at this weeks 100 things to do with a baby comedy goldmine for example.
