View Full Version : Voice dubbing in Crackers Don't Matter?

Whenever I watch Crackers Don't Matter, I notice it, but haven't given much thought to it ever...

When Crichton is showing T'raltixx the ship, and he stops by Rygel's quarters and has that little chat, there's a part that sounds distinctly un-Browder like. I'll type it up.

Crichton: Oh but, you know you might wanna get back to the center chamber.
Rygel: Why?
Crichton: No reason, just uh, Chiana's eating all the food.

The "No reason" part. It sounds deeper, and of course sometimes your voice can do funny things, and go deeper for a second, but the voice just doesn't sound like his. Think they dubbed it over? Just something I've noticed.

A lot of what we see in shows and movies is all dubbing actually. In many sequences there is no way they could pick up the actor's voices well with all the background noises. So much of what we see is dubbing. Normally in a conversation environment they don't have to dub, but when they do to fix something it becomes apparent.

I think they said they have to redub a great deal because of all the leather they wear-it squeeks! And also homebush has corrugated iron roofing so the sound proofing isn't exactly stellar.. So as a result they have to redo a fair old bit.

Yeah, like BritAngie and Soyarma said, most of what we hear in Farscape is done in ADR. They used to film at Fox Studios in Sydney which was nicer and more soundproof than the studio in Homebush that they relocated to. They did a fantabulous job because I've never noticed anything out of wack.

No, what I'm saying is, it doesn't sound like Browder. It sounds like a completely different person.

I highly doubt they'd do that. Probably just his voice doing a funny thing.

Maybe he had cold or something. Last remnants were still there. I remember seeing an episode of Buffy where it was very clear that SMG had a cold :achoo:
