My laptop died. As in there's a hardware problem that's bad enough it won't start at all. They say I need to take it in to a technician to diagnose the specific problem. That costs money, and you know how they charge you out the nose. Just to find out the problem. Then I'll probably have to play the game of let's replace a bunch of parts that don't actually fix the problem, rack up the charges, and after I've earned a couple hundred dollar bill, tell me it's as dead as it gets.

Can't concentrate at home. Can't write fast enough longhand to keep up with the pace, and therefore his massive blocks. Guess I'm well and truly frelled. It was nice while it lasted. Guess it was all pointless after all.

Thanks for listening. Just needed to vent. I'll go back to my corner now.

How did you get online to post this message? I guess you could go to the library for awhile. Or maybe you could convince Denny's that they need to set aside a section of the restaurant and use it as an internet cafe. :)

Go to best buy. My friend had a problem with her laptop, it wouldn't turn on, and when it did it would come up with a bunch of crazy errors, we took it there. They'll look at it and tell you what's wrong for free, will only charge you if you need to have them repair it. In my friend's case, she need needed to run a surface scan, or something of the sort, so the guy found the problem and gave her a disk and it fixed her laptop, all for free.

The desktop . . . which is just a tad too big to lug around and needs a place to plug in. Library won't work as they close pretty early and I can't leave the house until 8pm at the earlier unless it's to run a quick errand or a special occasion. I'm now stuck with the problem that led me to get the laptop in the first place because the problem was killing my ability to keep doing this. :g2f:

Will try them once I can call and ask. Our local Best Buy is new and retarded on some things. I'm pretty sure it's the processor, that it fried due to a fault in the heatsink no one knew about until well after the model had been released -- after I reasearched and bought it. At least that's based on talking to some people who had the exact same problem with the same model. The processor. Frell. $$$.

Whatever it is, I hope its something you can get fixed for less than it would cost to buy a whole new laptop.

You would think these computer companies would issue refunds or replacements when they know its something wrong on their end.

I was going to say, by the time the problem is diagnosed and fixed, it might just be cheaper and faster to buy a new one. I hate it that we have become such a disposable society, but that seems to be the case.

Sorry to hear of your problem. As I mentioned in my PM my computer crashed the other day for the 1,000,000th time.

I get SO cranky when defective devices get sold and then the compnay won't take resonsibility for them. I'd buy a new system, but I'm still paying for this one! Talking to Gateway is like talking to a fool!

I just love how these things always happen a couple months after the warranty expires. It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

its irony at its best. as soon as you get it, you know that if anything's going to happen to it, it's going to happen AFTER the warranty.
