I was inspired by savefarscape and other online petitions/projects to start my own. If you think $2-4 is too expensive for an 8oz can go to http://www.geocities.com/redbullistooexpensive/ and sign the petition to make red bull cheaper.

Of course it is. I think I might sign this despite my not drinking Red Bull too often anyway.

Sobe: No Fear is far better.

I just switched from powerlifting to bodybuilding, and the creatine in it really helps the soreness. It has a crapload of other minerals that you need for athletic stuff, plus, its only two dollars a bottle. Of course, you can't drink many of these because the creatine will destroy your kidney's, just ask my old football buddy Clint.

But, it makes good moshpit fuel, found that out at the In Flames/Killswitch Engage concert (hell of a show by the way, if they come to your town, go!). Ah, a 205 lb ametuer body builder versus 130 pound high schoolers, so much fun!

you're into metal, Owlman? How come I didn't know that?

hehehehe Owl, i suspect those kids had no idea what was going on!!

next time i get tickets to linkin park, i'm definitely going for the floor but probably not the pit. i'm a 5'4 125 lb girl (on a heavy day) but someone better watch out for me cause i can pack a punch. my boyfriend could tell you that...he says i don't realize how hard i can punch. so if any guy decides that the floor is the place to cop a feel (my friends have a billion stories) they'll have no hands to cop any feels with.

Try being a 6'5" 270+ body builder... getting into pits back in the late 80's early 90's were alot better than the pits of today. Now all the pits are angry... back in the late 80's before the metalheads got into pits... there was a form to pits. Now everyone just wants to swing their fists. No one does the 'Gorilla', 'Picking up Loose Change' or any of the old moves. Now it is just... I am going to hurt you. The worst pit I was involved in... was at a Slayer show at the Aragon Brawlroom in Chicago. There were 2 deaths in that pit. People had razor blades sewed to their jackets... that was nasty. The most violent pit was at a Suicidal Tendencies show at the Cubby Bear in Chicago... C.A.S.H. on one side... S.H.O.C. on the other... first song... fists swinging. (C.A.S.H.- Chicago Area Skin Heads : S.H.O.C. - Skin Heads Of Chicago: one racists the other anti). I left that show with a black eye and a split lip... and seriously bruised and bloody knuckles and elbows. 2 days before I graduated High School.

I started going into pits with bands like Naked Raygun, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains... punk bands.

Damn Grinner!

At the last show I went to, some guy tried to hardcore dance in a metal pit. Yeah, a few metal heads, including my buddy who was a hip/hop fan (turned metal head thanks to the show) kicked the crap out of him.

Agent Sun, be careful out there in the pit, most guys are gentlemen, but their are a few assclowns that will **** with you, but if a guy like me sees that, I'll beat the shit out of the guy.

Yeah man, just got into it two years ago. Read my fics, all of them have soundtracks with metal/hardrock on them. SoD has mostly light metal, but my fic Hell to Pay is going to be hard as hell.

I like:
Mushroomhead
Opeth
Otep
Snot (RIP Lynn)
The Dillinger Escape Plan
SOiL
Soilwork
Killswitch Engage
In Flames
As I Lay Dying
Twisted Method
Stone Sour
40 Below SUmmer
Slipknot (hated them till two weeks ago, Vol 3 change my mind).

ANd a crapload of other bands.

i watched a documentary one time about the mosh pit. i can't remember where or when, but it was a great look at the history of punk and how the mosh pit gradually invaded other music genres and it had a lot of interviews with musicians and their views on how the pit has evolved, and i don't think any of them had anything good to say about the pits now. i think they all hate the pits that happen at concerts, because it's not about expression anymore, it's, as you said grinner, about inflicting pain. they were all really interesting when they talked about how they hate seeing people get hurt in the pit because it was never meant to be painful.

thanks Owlman, i definitely know that guys can be idiots in any kind of situation where they're not thinking clearly. i typically want to go for all the really hard concerts. i want to go to ozzfest and i want to go to hfstival...mostly pop punk stuff or rock, but still a great festival.

I wouldn't worry about intense pits at Linkin Park.

And yeah,me and my buddies get involved in Moshpits to inflict pain, but we are a bunch of weightlifters/ex Jocks that miss the agression of football, even though we haven't played school ball since we graduated.

.
sorry, but attitudes like that is one reason that I don't go into pits anymore. the shoving and swing of fists is very immature. Back in the day (as if 15 years ago is that long ago) there was alot more respect. Last show I was at... there were a bunch of drunken assholes swinging at everyone and anyone. Punched a tiny girl right in the face... right in front of my and a buddy. He is 6'3" and around 220... so he grabbed the girl and pulled her away, while I kneed him in the stomach and punched him in the back of the neck. He went down hard. The girls boyfriend then wanted to kick him in the head, but I pulled the dude away and sat him by the bar. Stupid asses have ruined pits. Shit... when I saw MyLifeWithTheThrillKillKult last... there were some asses trying to make a violent pit for that band... :g2f: I saw people trying to mosh at a They Might Be Giants show...

gosh, I really wish you were around when bands like Agnostic Front, Biohazard and some other NYHC bands were seriously active... the Hardcores would beat the shit out of you. I have been in probably over 150 pits... and I was never injured at one until the early to mid-90's when all the poseur metalheads got involved.

as impossible as i thought it was to mosh at a TMBG concert, i suppose people don't need a reason to act like idiots to incite anger.

MyLifeWithTheThrillKillKult is probably one of the best bands to see live. I saw them... 7 times and each time was as good as the last time I saw them.

The only show I refused to get in a pit at what at the local Houston metal Club The Engine Room when Ill Nino played.

The place filled up at the end with Mexican Gangbangers from the barrios. I saw some Latin King Tats and some Mexican Mafia Tats. Plus, they don't search you for weapons there, and I saw more than a few gats and blades in people's pants and belts.

Since I've lived in Houston my whole life, I know not to **** with either of said gangs, unless you want to wind up with a buck knife in your eye or about 20 .45s from a Mac-10 in you ass.

heck, I saw people trying to start a pit for Deep Blue Sea and even some shoegazer bands.

I was thrust into a mosh with Evanescence. Now that could have been strange.

That same concert, of all the frelling bands, Taking Back Sunday demanded a large pit, and my former best friend, a very arrogant and aggresive person, who was currently going out with my ex-girlfriend, (damn... I sound like such a soap opera character...) came after me and tried to knock me to the ground repeatedly, but each time, I deflected him and he'd fall down. I thought it was funny. But... what kind've band to have that happen with. It was like trying to headbang to Frank Sinatra.

head banging to Frank Sinatra, oh my...
I was once at a Cannibal Corpse-concert; there was no moshpit, the whole place was moshing! That was amazing, people stagediving feet-first and stuff, but still, if anybody went down, there were like ten guys ready to help you back up... the way it should be...

Ah... Cannibal Corpse... the band that I was almost stabbed while watching them in concert. Seems some people didn't like the fact that I was protecting some people from the pit. Everytime they came over by me to get into my face, they went down. Luckily security was watching it... and when a guy came sneaking behind me to stab me, saw it and blocked the knife. I don't get it... why would stabbing a guy at a concert make it better for them. After that incident, I typically stay by the bar when I see shows like that.

people need to learn pit etiquette
have fun
pick up a person when they fall down
respect the people next to you
dont try to kill the people in the front by constantly pushing
have fun
