I EMAILED THE BBC ABOUT THE CHANCES OF SEEING THE MINI IN THE UK HERES WHAT THEY SAID...
Hi Freckle
The acquisitions department will make the decision on the basis of how
good the mini-series is, on the ratings Farscape got in the past, and
whether there's a suitable slot for it. They might pay a little bit of
attention to how many emails the info@bbc.co.uk address has had, but
they already know that the show is popular, so it'll only be a little
bit. They won't pay any attention to online polls and things at all.
Hope that helps!
All the best
:D

Well that's sort've saddening but completely reasonable and understandable from a business-oriented point of view. A cult show can't survive forever in terms of a business POV, because the business POV might dictate that only the "huge fanbase" will watch it and that isn't very marketable since the "huge fanbase" is "thousands and thousands of people all united!!!" which is truly not that many when you look from that business POV.
Man, I said business POV too many times.

Well at least they will consider it.
You know what I just noticed? When I was reading something, not sure if it was the TV guide mini article or not, but Brian Henson mentioned that the consortium of people that put up the funds for the mini were BRITISH. I dont remember that being mentioned before. So it would kinda suck that if after some Brits put up the money for it to be made that you all dont get to see it.

Guh... I hadn't even thought of that yet. Yes, that would rather much suck indeed.

The BBC recognizes that the show is popular, so hopefully they'll treat it accordingly. I will be happy if they show it on BBC 1 or 2.

I'm not concerned....BBC did respond to the Mini announcement Straight away ..which means they are aware and it's "on their Radar"..and they have had a great response to the series in the past....Not burying it at some ridiculous timeslot is an indication of the shows appeal at the BBC...and as it was the Last episodes of Season 4 actually screened Here in the Uk on the BBc Before they had on Skiffy in the US....No need to Panic yet..

Frankly, that sounds like a generic reply.
They've already said that they're waiting to see the mini before they make a decision, and we know it's still in post-production.
Farscape's got good ratings on the BBC in the past, but if the mini's high budget it may also have a high price-tag. So it's not that surprising if they want to see it first.

Well. They did say about 1 1/2 months ago that they were also considering showing it on BBC 3 because the ratings were not so high. And BBC 3 is digital and only broadcasted in the UK, so less people can watch it (including yours truly). So I wouldn't call the BBC very enthusiastic at the moment.

i dont think theyll put it on bbeb 3.although its a cult show i think its got a good home on bbc two, and after, all thats where most of us who dont have satellite go to see our fav sci fi shows.

i reckon we should email the hell out of the acquisitions dept....do you not think that during a big head of dept board meeting when discussing the potential shows to buy,no ones going to mention that theyve received three thousand emails about the mini, and thats thats not going to carry any weight?

But sticking it on BBC3 makes no *sense* as even less people would see it. :irate: :headbang: I can't see them being stupid enough to do that.

I wonder how much it would cost to run a cable from someones TV in America across the Atlantic to Manchester? I could then buy a big screen and everyone could watch it at my house? Problem solved.

Hi, I emailed the BBC as did most of the members at 'Scaping the UK' and this is the reply I got:
Dear Kirsty
Thank you for your e-mail regarding ?Farscape?.
The latest information we have is that this series will air in the US in October 2004. The BBC will obtain preview copies shortly before American transmission and a decision will be made as to whether to acquire the series after that.
There are currently no plans to repeat seasons 1- 4. However, please be assured that I have registered your interest with our programme planners, and although nothing is scheduled at the moment, it is always possible that a repeat might be arranged for a later date.
We would advise you to keep an eye on our Cult website for any updates:

Once again, thank you for taking the time to write.
Regards
Damian Whyte

So It is still a possibility that they may show it at some point, hopefully in the not too distant future. Even though the BBC have now asked Farscape fans to stop emailing, it is still worth doing as they have to register every comment. Surely the more people who want the show, the more likely we are to get to see it!
