In back and back and back to the future doesn't the Forel seem like he is like a puppet in the way that he talks. I kept thinking that Metala was controlling him. He is so lifeless. maybe he is one of Jim Hensons larger creations.

He's an actor, John something or other, can't remember. In the commentary with Ben and Rowan Woods, Ben mentions that everytime he moves his tentacles would wiggle. So, the actor choose to stay as still as possible and they put in a brace to prevent excessive movement, that way the tentacles wouldn't go crazy.

Didn't like his acting abilities? ;) . . .
. . . however, both Rowen and Ben were quite impressed with how the actor took a physical limitation, due to his costume, and turned that into a character personality/role . . . they noted that, as so-much-4-sanity stated, the actor couldn't move very much because of his tentacles . . . if he did, because the tentacles were made of rubber material, they would wiggle and look quite silly (thus, Matala character had her tentacles tied together) . . . so, the actor adopted the view that the character he was playing would be quite "cerebral," "quiet," and "still" (notice that how the character spoke and moved were very similar . . . both were slow and methodical) . . . as such, the actor believed his protrayal of the character (speaking, tone, etc) would better match the character's limitations of movements . . . in the end, both Rowen and Ben were quite complimentory that the actor took what was at first a character "physical" limitation and turned it into a character defining role . . .

okay, the better explanation was that he was indeed a puppet :D

First thing that came to my mind while reading this:

I just watched the commentary for this ep last night. It was really good. My favorite part was when Ben lost his thought process twice because he was so busy looking at Claudia's mid-riff. He kept saying, sorry wow, Claude looks great there. She should show her mid-riff again.
What is so funny is that it took until season four, in Kansas, for her to do so. Ben was absolutely floored, in the commentary, everytime Claudia was on the screen.

I love it when Ben participates in commentary, he keeps it going and he's got a great sense of humour...
This is probably my least favorite Farscape episode. I don't know, it's something with the lighting. Also, the woman who played Matala I found to be extremely irritating to watch. I thought she did a shabby job acting a poorly written character. :dunno:

Matala's costume, annoyed me, I thought the 80's were over. She looked a little jazzersized to me. I liked the time shifts and the fact that Farscape began to push the boundaries of what it was "supposed" to be in a very real way. A genuine black tee ep!

This is one of my favorite Season 1 eps, especially after hearing the commentary. I loved the convoluted timeline, and I love how inside John's head they got. Also it was, as Ben noted in the commentary, the first of the "black tee eps" - the weird, slightly dark and twisted episodes that I love so much.

Well that answers the whole puppet issue. Can't say that Im not a little disapointed (small sigh), but its good to find out the truth, I just thought I was on to something there. Oh well now I have to go watch the comentary thanks for the info. :)...but you know it would be cool if he was one of Jim Hensons creations.:news: Think about it. That would mean possibly the whole cast could be puppets advance creations of the Jim Henson company, part puppetry magic, part robot, part computer and TV trickery. That would explain the high cost the Scifi channel was talking about. Technology that advance would cost a whole lot! Or maybe these Ruppets(robot-puppets :bot: :cookiemon) A.I. grew and developed on set there intelect and curiosity about life and they wanted to see the real world, like that twilight zone ep where the manicans take turns living in the outside world. Maybe there done seeing all they could see and have decided to return home in the form of the mini:thewave: ! Its all making since now!! Oh Henson Company you are a sly one. ;)
