by a dog! I took my dog Mayu to the dog park yesterday -it's been really rainy here lately (yeay!) and I finally got a chance to take her when it was sunny. I wanted to burn off some of that destructive energy she has, so I decided to stay twice as long as I usually do. Anyway, Mayu and this other dog were running around like idiots and they ran right into me. My boyfriend said from what he could see, I was standing straight up one minute, horizontally hovering in the air for a second, and then wham! I landed on the ground. I've never had my legs taken completely out from under me like that before. It hurt! So now I have a huge bruise on my left hip (the same leg with a broken toe from a couple of weeks ago) and I think I have whiplash in my neck. Sheesh! And of course, the dogs were fine. Just kept going. Didn't even care. *sniff*

bruises suck but aren't worth spilling milk over (i'm sure i'm not the first to say that) but whiplash? I think that's more serious. maybe whiplash itself isn't, I'm not sure, but the fact you think you have it is, I'm reasonably certain of that. did you go see a doctor? You could have cracked something. I've never had a serious neck injury, so i don't know, I just think that vertebrae is important.

damn dogs

No, I haven't been to see a doctor. My neck didn't start hurting until I woke up this morning, and I thought initially it was just because I had to sleep on my side (because it hurts to lay on the bruise and I'm a whimp :)) and it was stiff. But it's been hurting all day and I can't really turn it very well (it only hurts on the right side), so that's why I think I might have whiplash. But even if I did, there's not really much a doctor could do for me, right? There's no test for it or anything, it's a soft tissue sort of thing. I guess if it still hurts in a few days I might have somebody look at it...

whiplash oesn't usually appear until hours later, or in some cases, days later. you should really go see a doctor. even if it's a false alarm at least you know that nothing's wrong!

and i think you should have a hoverthrone from now on for the times in the park.

I can see the video now. When Dogs Attack

Sounds like you're probably OK. But I would watch who your dog's making friends with. He could end up in a gang. :D

My aunt had a Standard Poodle. When I was a kid I took it for a walk one time. He took off and literally dragged me down the street. I was so freaked out, I never thought to let go of the leash!

Ouch...been there too. Instead of a poodle it was a white German Shepherd. He saw a cat running across the street and took off with incredible speed. I was only about 8 years old and was told to firmly hold the leash while walking the dog, so who was I to argue.

I've fell down enough times to know that it doesn't really hurt that much. It's like, the fear of pain is more painful than the pain itself.

Yup, i've fell down on a bike, on skates, on rollerblades, on a skateboard, on ice, from a rock, from a fairly tall cliff(landed on my eema, luckily). Once I was doing like 40 km/h on a moped and I went straight to a ditch and over the moped.
Usually you get out of those situations with a few scratches.

My friend would disagree, sience when he fell on his bike when he was a kid, his face landed on concrete. He lost most of his upper front teeth. But they were baby teeth anyway, so who cares.

I hope you feel better ec, wow what a day. Neck injuries are funny, I was fine after getting rear ended by a drunk driver, but the next day my neck hurt and continued to for days. If the pain doesn't seem to be decreasing, it would be a good idea to have it checked out.

The hoverthrone sounds like a good idea though.

:lol that's great agentsun

so how long did your neck take to heal rk? mine still hurts today. I can't really support my head with it. so as long as I'm standing or laying down I'm fine. It's the in-betweens that suck!

:roflmao:

Sorry for laughing but, this is the kind of story that only a dog owner can tell! The 'rents 50 lb baby Golden Giraffe...er Retriever loves to play fetch, and always returns the ball by barreling into my lap. The bruises, on occasion, look like I've been playing Rugby.

Give the neck some time to get better...Whatever you do, don't go to a Chiropractor...frelling witch doctors mess you up more than they ever help...If you go to a doc, go see an Osteopath. They are actual trained physicians, and are interested in actually making you better.

*Please don't flame me on the issue of Chiropractic care, as personal/family history with the practitioners will prevent anyone from changing my mind.*

doesn't the body exist specifically for heaping abuse on?

:rollin:
Stubborn little devils aren't they?

No. Don't know much about them, but Standard Poodles look a lot like toy poodles except they're about 50 - 60 pounds. I think they used them for hunting several centuries ago. Of course Jock thought he was a toy poodle and was always trying to get in your lap.

I've found that, generally, smaller dogs are more aggressive. I've been bitten by small dogs three times, but bigger dogs just tend to lick.

Once, some friend of my parents brought over this cow of a dog, and I was deathly affraid of him, but all he did was breathe really heavy.
