Iranian woman 'gives birth to frog'

An Iranian newspaper has reported the controversial story of a woman who claims to have given birth to a frog.
The Iranian daily Etemaad says the creature is believed to have grown from larva to an adult frog inside her body.

While it is unclear how this could have happened, the paper carries quotes from medical experts who say there are human characteristics to the animal.

It has been speculated that the woman, who has not been named, unknowingly picked up the larva while she was swimming in a dirty pool.

The woman, from the south-eastern city of Iranshahr, is a mother of two children.

The "so-called frog", as the newspaper puts it, has yet to undergo precise genetic and anatomic tests.

But it quotes clinical biology expert Dr Aminifard as saying: "The similarities are in appearance, the shape of the fingers and the size and shape of the tongue."

Medical history recounts stories of people who believed they had frogs - or even lizards or snakes - living and growing in their bodies.

One of the most famous was the 17th Century case of Catharina Geisslerin, known as "the toad-vomiting woman" of Germany.

When she died in 1662 doctors are said to have performed an autopsy, but found no evidence animals had ever lived inside her body.

Are they sure "she gave birth" and it wasn't just some kinky sex thing??? :g2f:

A number of years ago when I worked in the ER we had a woman who used to come in a couple of times a month for a boiled egg removal ... some people just have very kinky sex lives ... no I am not going to say anything more.

I'm sure that it was anything *but* an actual birth. But horrifying nonetheless.

weird and very weird, but i'll see about the results of the frog "living" in her body before i believe it.

frogs have tadpoles, not larva

That's really wierd, I wonder if there's enough oxygen in there to even host any sort of aquatic animal ...

the human body is mostly water, however the stomach juices would have most likely dissolved, destroyed, digested, and any other "d" word, the frog. until i hear more, i'm calling it a hoax or internet lore because it gives absolutely no details that would indicate it to be a real story. if it had given some detail about her symptoms, if she felt sick, etc. it might be more believable.

I'm not sure if this is a hoax or not. No, I don't believe that she actually gave birth to a frog, but I'm curious to know if it's even possible for a frog to have survived in her.

As far as stomach juices...I'm not sure if the frog went in that way.

well, the frog wasn't in her. the article says that the woman contracted the tadpoles while she was swimming in a pool. it doesn't indicate how, but swimming would usually mean she swallowed water. we all swallow water when we swim. any other way it got into her would seem implausible. that tipped me off that it might be a hoax, because a real hoax documented as internet lore talks about a girl swimming in a pool, and "swallows frog spawn".

No way man! If it's on the internet, it _must_ be true!!

so, now that she's "frog lady" does she automatically gain French citizenship?

I hate to be the one to break this to you AS ... but if she swallowed the tadpoles in the swimming pool water ... firstly, the gastric juices in her stomach would have killed the tadpoles, and secondly, even if they survived in her gut through some miracle, she would not have "given birth" to them ... they would have exited via the ...er ... other exit and not the birth canal.

Can't leave well enough alone can you! :lol

Firstly she told us that they were boiled eggs and secondly they kind of disintedgrated during ... the activity that followed the insertion.

OKay, the boiled egg thing is just :hork: .... ewwwwwwww....

This frog thing is, I believe, a hoax. There's a story that went around a couple of years ago about a woman who... ermm.. did things with a lobster, and died when the larvae all hatched and came out... The lobster was supposed to have been for her anniversary dinner with her husband, who was suddenly called away on a business trip and she was left alone...

Surely they were peeled?

I wonder if it wasn't just some sort of deformity that looked frog-like (presuming there was a woman at all)...even if you supposed that a tadpole or egg could get in the uterus (and I would presume that the amniotic fluid would not be that hospitable to an amphibian), of course, that's supposing that there is amniotic fluid, which I guess there wouldn't be... there's no reason for it to look human at all...

thats what i was saying earlier, selena. her stomach would've dissolved anything that went down there so the idea that she swallowed them is out. that leaves another method, and that seems implausible too, unless it comes to light that she has some very abnormal sexual habits.

I understand she's already joined a support group for women with her particular situation, like the lady in Marseilles who gave birth to a pig, the lady in Wisconsin who gave birth to a bear and some Samoan woman who's kid has an oddly-shaped nose and is covered in blue fur

Of course we're missing one important point here ... what if it was a 'prince charming' under an evil curse and at the stroke of midnight just after they ... er ... you know ... consummated their relationship, he turned back into a frog.

Incidentally, Selena, a friend of mine worked in an emergency room and had similar experiences to yours. No frog, but one man came in with a light bulb stuck in his...yeah. Another came in with a hamster there. How did that work, you ask? Well, since you asked, apparently they first put it in a toilet paper roll so it had a handy little tunnel and then...

Now that is a mental image I wish you had not given me. :yuck:

A few years ago I was 'scrubbed' on a bowel obstruction case and as it was an emergency procedure everyone was on their toes. Well after the surgeon cut into the bowel to remove the large mass we discovered it was :eek2: a 10" dildo ... the patient did not tell anyone what he had stuck up where the sun don't shine. There was no way to get it out the way it had gone in so it involved major abdominal surgery.
