I saw this on another group I visit. I don't post to it, but I do read the messages. It's an article that SyFy Portal did on PeaceKeeper Wars.

:bounce: And they used my post!!!!!!!!!!!! (as well as one of Digger's comments) :bounce:

Here's the article:

'Farscape' Mini-Series Airdate Announced
Author: Michael Hinman
Date: 07-10-2004
Source: SyFy Portal

If you're one of the thousands of anxious "Farscape" fans who can't wait to see the new mini-series developed from the cancelled Sci-Fi Channel series, now you have a date to mark on your calendar.

During the airing of the season premiere of "Stargate SG-1" over the weekend, Sci-Fi released some of the first scenes of the new four-hour mini-series, and also gave a definitive date on when the program will begin.

According to the promos, "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars" will begin Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. ET. When the second part will air, however, is not known, but it is likely it will take place Oct. 18 at 9 p.m. Sci-Fi Channel has a history of showing their mini-series on successive nights, as they did with "Battlestar Galactica" last December, however, it is not clear if that tradition will be maintained for "Farscape."

"Farscape," which utilizes Muppets created by the Jim Henson company, was a cult favorite that lasted four seasons on the Sci-Fi Channel. It was canceled nearly two years ago, despite earlier statements that the show had been renewed through five seasons. A few fan campaigns ensued, and because of organized efforts of fans, a four-hour mini-series went into production, even though it was unclear where it would be aired. Sci-Fi Channel eventually picked up the mini-series.

Excitement about the trailer aired on Sci-Fi (two trailers -- an expanded and shortened version -- were shown during "Stargate") was expressed by different fans on the Watch Farscape boards.

"I just saw the new teaser for 'Peacekeeper Wars,'" said a poster named Kathleen. "I'm so excited! I was jumping around the living room, screaming like a goofball!"

"I just love how they started it," said another poster, Digger. "'We have unfinished business.' Frelling right we do!"

Thanks to Nora, aka "FarscapeNut722," for the tip

Same here. That kind of thing will put newcomers off a bit.

Doesn't the Henson refer to all of their creatures as muppets?

If not, please accept my apologies. =(

I think they refer to the creatures they build such as Pilot as animatronics. Rygel is more "muppet-like" - but still not a muppet. However, I think you'll find the creatures they have done in The Dark Crystal, Dreamchild, Merlin, etc., are refered to as animatronics.

I believe Antrobus is correct in the terminology. Thank you, Michael, for giving Farscape more exposure by writing this piece!!! The more eyeballs we can get watching in October, the better our chances for more Farscape beyond the mini-series. Our job isn't done, and hopefully, yours isn't either as far as it goes reporting good news concerning Farscape.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write this and for participating here!! I freaked out when I saw my name used in your piece! Not as much as when I saw the trailer for the first time, but I was still excited. Thanks for doing this!! (and for making my day) :D

Heheheh!! Some might say I should ask first before quoting ... but to me, this is pretty public, so I thought you and Digger would be flattered instead of pissed.

I definitely will NOT refer to them as "muppets" in the future. See? It IS good that I hang out here. :)

Well guys Animatronics is a Disney originated term who now owns the Muppets so its full circle.

I thought you and Digger would be flattered I am definitely flattered Michael. :D I thought it was a very good article. Thanks once again for your support of Farscape (and other genre shows).

As for the "muppet" thing, let's face it; most of the world thinks of Henson's creations as MUPPETS. It's almost become a generic term now, hasn't it?

Brian Henson said their company has a history of referring to their animatronics as puppets. Muppets are specific brand which has been recently sold to Disney (she says anxiously biting her bottom lip). Go ahead say it: anal! :)

Muppets are specific brand which has been recently sold to Disney (she says anxiously biting her bottom lip).

I think that's completely true. The Muppets were/are the group that performs around Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, etc. I see the Muppets as as a group of Henson creations which are unique unto themselves.

If one views the work of Henson's Creature Shop in such movies as "Dreamchild" or "The Dark Crystal", I think one would view Henson's work in a much larger dynamic.

I'll always hold fast to the fact that the "Alice In Wonderland" creatures in "Dreamchild" are simply fantastic. The movie may not appeal to everyone, but anyone interested in Henson's work should watch it for the creatures themselves. The movie exists in three lines. First, the present day(which in the film is in the 1930s), second, the memories of Alice Liddell from victorian era England, and third, the Wonderland characters (some shabby and mean looking) that haunt the elderly Alice's mind.

It's not anal to say that about Muppets. In fact, in reflection, I think you're quite correct that Muppets are very specific, and cannot be used to describe all creature creations from Henson.

And you guys are great! I love reading these boards. :)

Well before the Muppets were sold I considered Sesame Street to be a part of them because Kermit was always doing the news on it. I actually sawin an 8th Grade Math book that all Henson puppets were Muppets. That is certainly no longer the case.
