Here's a little something I thought everyone on the board could do why we pass the time for the mini. Everyone take one episode (whether you love it or not). Review it. Say what you love about it. Classic Farscape moments in it. Quotes. Do it all. Here's my episode. That perfect classic wonderful episode:

"BRINGING HOME THE BEACON"

I love this episode. Everything about it is perfect. ABSOLUTLY PERFECT DO YOU HEAR ME. Sorry, it is my favorite episode. I even like Noranti in this episode. Some great moments:

- Noranti tasting the tea and saying it's drugged.
- Chiana and Noranti's new looks
- The great chemistry between everyone. Sikozu and Aeryn are great together.
- Chiana being Chiana
- the first appearence of Akhna; the negotiations. Grayza is great.
- the action. Good action paced episode
- and of course that great ending. you know what i'm talking about.
- the way the set up the rest of the season.
- Sikozu being sikozu
- you know I'm missing alot of things but here are some quotes:

Sikozu: All right, then what? Do you have any plan of escape?
Aeryn: Run.
Sikozu: Anything more detailed Aeryn?
Aeryn: Run quickly.

Chiana: (referring to D'Argo sniffing her) Do you really need to do that?
D'Argo: Remarkable.
Chiana: Well changing my genetics changes my scent.
D'Argo: Is it permanent?
Chiana: Do you want it to be?
D'Argo: I prefer the elegant gray.

Ok I'm finished. I'm not the greatest reviewer but i'm interested to see other's reviews of other's episodes. So take any episode that hasn't been reviewed and just talk about it. Here's a chance for a lot of Scapers on this site to be heard. Have fun and please don't comment on other people's reviews. Just review an episode and be nice.

"Losing Time"

One of my biggest faves.

Chiana's Ridermae is great, defunatley have felt like that before. It was actually comforting and I didn't feel so embarressed having some kind of little ridermae problem of my own at the time. Plus she reminded me allot of Nell with Jodi Foster and I love that movie.

It looks like Jool and D'Argo might be hitting something off I thought they'd get into over Chi and D'Argo getting back together. Jool looks drad in her costume, like a Gypsie.

John does this bleeding thing like right after I read a now lost somewhere thing about Ben's interview for the part and he had a stigmata right in the middle of the luncheon cause he was hot and sweating (but really how many times do YOUR pours just sweat enough to bleed?)

Pilot possessed was just awesome, I loved the whole ice and smoke look and the way he was moving around like the rider was enjoying the feel of it.

Moya gets to show she has more control of herself than might have been thought of, like saving Chi and John's butt from getting starbursted but then he see's the rider in Chi which was a great scene.

The whole sipp/taste thing with John.

So was the accent, Jool finding her and the floating up into the air. When Chi goes "yayusss, desire" it kind of reminded me of the chicken that'd fall in love with Foghorn Leghorn and want him to be the father to her eggs. I dunno if that was supposed to be funny but it is.

Bummers:
there's two bloopers where lights turn on at missed ques that kind of were hard not to notice and kind of mess up being into it. Not as bad as a mic falling into camera view but ...

John: Is anybody having any - problems? (thud)

D'Argo: so let's all just sit down and watch John.
Chi: What if I have to take a piss?
D'Argo: Then we'll all just go together
Chi: Promise?
D'Argo: (snarel)

D'Argo: I live on this ship, something strange always happens.

Jool: Shoot him, you're the warrior, shoot him now!
D'Argo: With what, my nose?

JC: Are you getting any of this?
Chi: no
JC: Okay, we don't understand any of the R2D2 crap. Let's go for the StarTrek system. One blink for yes, two blinks for no.

D'Argo: And I say I just shove my qualta down his throat and say 'hey, get out of Pilot!"
John: And what if he says no?

John: Unified plan, as always.

Chi: taaaaste ....
John: Chi, what the hell are you doing?
Chi: Taste? (Jumps John hehehe)

Chi: Love this tiiiight bodae
John: Okay, we all love this body!

John: Good God! That's not natural

Chi: "Tinae brains, no more taaaalk!"

D'Argo: This plan is so bad it has to be ours.

Jool: I feel like I just had a spiritual enema

Jool: You bled because you're an irritating and inferior species, good night.

Drillic: You did not transfer me here to wait for your permission as if you were my mother! It is now time to proceed with biological trials.

Scorp: Right, son. Well. Deploy him.

I think this topic should have a spoiler warning in the title.

SCRATCH 'N' SNIFF

A weird episode that I love. The narrative structure is excellent, with the main story essentially being "told" by Crichton to Pilot, and how it skips back and forward in time in clips just for the hell of it. The ending shoot-out was superb, and we finally get to see the cool night vision goggles again.

The story was a good one, and it made a change from a Moya-centric episode. Many funny bits, including D'Argo dancing (ESPECIALLY D'Argo dancing) and new Dandy-D'Argo looked great - I still can't believe they put him in there like that just for the final 15-20 mins. The Hanji didn't look bad, but not very convincing, but then it was only a minor character. Harvey featured briefly but was still a laugh, and Fran returned as the slightly manic Raxil.

One more quick thing - the musical score was excellent. It made the episode feel even more like a Farscape Summer Vacation Special or something, but the writing elevated it above such dren. The way they carried the musical score into the credits worked extremely well.

I'm not doing many quotes since I don't remember them all that well, but to sum up -

Good points -

* Pilot - "It made him... dance?"
* Yep, Jool and Chiana seemed in REAL deep trouble
* The whole "Race ya to the dawgs" shootout scene at the end
* Crichton - "Does this guy just scream Vegas or what?"
* The music
* The guns (gotta have the guns)
* It's Fran!
* The narrative

Bad points

* It was on damn late
* The Hanji wasn't that convincing
* It ended

Overall, I'd still say 5 out of 5.

Well, this episode belongs not to my personal top 3 (this honor is due to GEM, ITLD:WISC and UR), but is one of those which makes me really :roflmao: (similar to JQ, SNS, RA, CDM, WGFA and OOTM).

Granted, the common story line of LAMST is - gently said - not very intriguing, but there are so many great quotes and hilarious scenes! So it is not the story but the dialogues, situations and the interactions between the characters I´m someway attracted to. And IMHO this was the intention of this episode: lots of comedy and slapstick without any – to be honest - serious or profound plot. Just pure fun, a breather after all the dramatic events dealt with in the previous eps. And in fact it came quite the right time. Speaking for myself a breather was almost overdue.
Mostly I enjoy the superb scenes and dialogues between Crichton and D´Argo, particulary those at the expense of Granny, who has btw also a lot of funny parts and is more involved as she usually is.

Okay, but these are my 3 favorite scenes (in reverse order):

Chiana´s idea to operate Lo'la with D´Argo´s vomit (thanks to Granny) and the whole following scene with her and Sikozu - forced to work together to rescue their shipmates. Great lines and good character interacting.

Noranti´s *seductive* dance and striptease:
John´s and particular D´Argo´s grimace full of horror and their scream when Granny finishes her show by baring her loomas quite in front of them is still worth enough to watch this ep - even better is only their mien and simultaneous shudder when they turn round for a second glimpse (they act obviously under shock :D )! Terrific, glorious, priceless!!!

And finally not to mention the very last scene (btw one of my favorites at all). The crew gets a transmission send by Pilot who informs them that he and Moya have received their signal. Despite all the fun and slapstick up to now, to hear pilot´s voice changes the mood (at least mine) in a second. It´s so affecting, I totally empathize with them. Their reactions and contented faces (what a wonderful acting by all of them!):

Pilot: "Ka D'Argo. Moya and I have received your signal. Here is our location. We look forward to your return"
Chiana: "It's Pilot."
John smiles, a big grin. D'Argo looks over at him.
Pilot: "Repeat... Moya and I have received your signal."
John whispers: "Pilot."
Rygel: "Ohh. By the yotz. Moya's alright. She's waiting for us."
John puts his hand up, over his eyes. He leans back in his seat, his hand on his mouth, and looks out at the stars.
D'Argo looks ahead, his eyes lit up.
Rygel smiles.
Chiana leans her head on the back of D'Argo's seat. She smiles.

Quotes:

John and D´Argo (and Noranti):

John: "D. We may have to stick Granny in a home."
D'Argo: "I think we should burn her."
John: "You burn your old folks?"
D'Argo: "No, it just... sounded like a good idea."
……….
A scene later...
John: "Burning... is too good for her."
*
D'Argo: "You know, maybe we should let her try."
John looks back at Noranti and D'Argo: "Nah... she's gonna get shot."
D'Argo: "And that would be bad?"
*
John: "What if there's a hundred of 'em?"
D'Argo: "Of these guys?"
D'Argo: "We should be so lucky."
*
D'Argo: "It's no good. They're shielded."
John: "They got body armor? That's a hell of an invention. How come we don't have that?"
*
And here comes my favorite:
John and D'Argo debate about John´s plan with the rock
John: "Alright, here's the thing. I think that we ambush the escort, we hit him with a rock and we take his belt."
D'Argo: "That is your plan?"
John: "Yah."
D'Argo: "To hit him with a rock? When they have these like, shield things?"
D'Argo is yelling and gesturing.
John: "The shields work against pulse energy. They don't work against other things. We saw the guy get burnt."
D'Argo: "Yah, but not by a rock!"
John: "Alright, let me lay this out for you. Fire... is thermal energy."
D'Argo: "Okay."
John: "Thermal energy is like kinetic energy."
D'Argo nods his head, okay.
John: "A rock has kinetic energy. Ergo, a rock will work."
D'Argo turns his eyes up at the ceiling, then looks back at John: "Uh... okay. Okay. I'm with you. I just have... uh... one small little question."
John rolls his eyes and sighs.
D'Argo: "Who is... Lou Costello?"
*
D'Argo jumps over the lake of lava and nearly lose his footing on the ledge:
His tongue lashes out and wraps around Noranti's neck. Her eyes bulge out and D'Argo wavers on the ledge. He finally pulls himself forward, using his tongue and falls into John's arms.
John: "I didn't know you could do that!"
D'Argo (lisping): "It takes a bit of practice."
*
John adjusts a shield belt across his chest: "All right. So there's nothing to turn on. Somebody shoots me, and I'm protected."
The aliens are sitting on the floor, their hands clasped behind their heads.
Frool: "Yah."
D'Argo: "Well, I think we'd better test it. Do you have any, ah... small appendages you don't need?"
John: "Small?"
Noranti: "Shoot him in the buttocks. That's big." She reaches out and pats him on the butt.
John: "Hey! You know what? Don't touch my ass. That's sexual harassment."
D'Argo brings up his qualta rifle and takes aim.
John: "Whoa! No! We are not shooting the butt."
The two aliens watch this, in amazement.
D'Argo: "Okay."
John: "The butt is off-limits. Try... the heel, or... Why don't we shoot you? You got a small appendage?"
D'Argo: "Shoot me?" D'Argo fires at John's leg. A blue light flashes and the disc on his chest makes a whirring sound.
John: "Ohh! Son-of-a-gun. It works."
*
Shortly after the scene above, Granny is still undressed:
D'Argo glances over at Noranti as they walk past: "Put some clothes on."
They leave and Noranti jerks her shoulder after them: "Hmpf!"
*
The farewell scene with the genuine Tarkans:
The alien is walking with Noranti on his arm. "And, thank you for the... uh...?"
Noranti holds up a bag: "Oh, jilnak."
Insect Alien: "Mmm."
John and D'Argo hurry over and grab Noranti by her elbows, picking her up and hurry her away.
D'Argo: "Ahh..."
John: "Oh, my module's parked in orbit and the meter is running out."
Noranti gasps.

Others:

Raa'Keel: "Nice use of the shield belt. But, without that pathetic little weapon, you'll burn!"
John: "You do not..." He hits Raa'Keel in the face with the pistol... " talk..." He hits him again... "about..." And again... "Winona..." And again... "like that!" He hits him in the face again.
*
Chiana runs into the chamber: "Crichton?"
Johh: "Chiana? Shoot!"
Chiana howls and shoots Raa'Keel in the back. The blue light flashes across his body.
John: "Not him... me!"
Chiana: "What?"
John: "Just shoot me!"
*
Insect Alien: "You're free to go."
Rygel farts again, loudly. The Insect Alien looks over at him and Rygel laughs.
Insect Alien (in a high voice): "As long as you take him with you."
D'Argo nods.

Summary:

Good:
- Crichton – D´Argo – Duo
- Crichton – D´Argo – Noranti – Triangle
- Chiana and Sikozu working together (more or less kindly...)
- Noranti´s dance
- use of vomit to master a DNA-controlled ship
- shooting oneself to survive (John in the lava pit)
- HARVEY! (love him)
- Final scene: transmission from PILOT!

Bad:
- the plot  :D

You know, I've always wanted to be hyper-critical of this ep', but it is so finely crafted and so well acted, it's not possible. From the sepia-toned flashbacks that give us it's backstory, to the emotionally charged present time and it's underlying theme of the price of betrayal, this is one of Farscape's best.

Tony Tilse's direction is, as always, very tight, and the episode's camera eye is superb. From the opening frame, we're introduced to a past that is not at all pleasant but very compelling. The movement from flashback to present is seamless, and never leaves you guessing. Excellent storytelling.

Above all, there's Claudia Black. She illustrates Aeryn's anguish so perfectly in every scene, she steals the show. When she's beaten her knuckles to a pulp and is face-down, sobbing, and John comes to her, her reaction to his touch, that full-body shudder, conveys a depth of pain no words could ever express.
The looks she exchanges with John at the end tells everyone how far she's come in her emotional maturity, and how much farther she has yet to come.
Beautiful, and simple.
Second, is Pilot. Lani's voicing, combined with the skill and artistry of his puppeteers, brings out such a depth of emotion, you see him as a living, breathing character, even though you know he's not. His interactions with Aeryn are amazing to watch. The interplay between them is so well done, it almost makes you believe they got it all in a single take, though that's probably not the case.

The episode's most interesting character, is Velorek. On the surface, the consumate Peacekeeper. Ruthless, efficient, arrogant. But deep inside, a man not at all unlike John Crichton. Compassionate, moral, and true to his ideals, to the end. The symmetry here is evident. His admonishment of Aeryn, "You can be so much more." Recognizing Crais as a self-possessed madman. Awakening something in Aeryn she never knew she could feel, but was too emotionally immature to recognize. True, he may have manipulated Pilot into taking the original Pilot's place, playing upon his youthful yearnings for the stars, but how else could a Peacekeeper Lieutentant have ensured that his plan to obstruct Crais' project would work, thus saving the lives of both Moya and Talyn, and still be able to stay in the good graces of his commanders? It was a masterstroke of strategy. His only problem turned out to be, Aeryn.
His heart, just what PK's tell themselves they don't have, betrayed him.
Best scenes:
The crew has all just seen the vidchip together, and in the supreme irony, Rygel, Zhaan, and D'Argo are quickest to condemn when they were ready to sacrifice any part of Pilot asked for, for one of Namtar's map crystals.

John and Aeryn sit, facing each other while Aeryn explains her distance with John, haltingly, grudgingly, and then Pilot calls on the clamshell, holding the vidchip. You can almost see the coldness in the pit of her stomach, at that point.

Aeryn confronts Pilot, and he lashes out. As she lifts her by her neck, she calls to John. John & D'Argo arrive and fight to free her while Pilot vents the chamber.

Her betrayal of Velorek. She is practically choking on the words as she admits herself to be the informant to Crais, and is about to break as they take him away, his sarcastic "no ordinary Peacekeeper would've been able to do this. I told you you were special" ringing in her ears.

Pilot's admission of guilt, to she and John, and her tender reassurance to him. Again, beautiful and simple.

Favorite lines:
"What did you think she was out picking baskets of lomas blossoms, while all the other Peacekeepers did the really nasty stuff?" Chiana

"You may have noticed, Crichton, that I've at times kept you at a distance."
Aeryn
"Many times...vast distances." John

"It is not you who deserve to die, officer Sun, but I. If not for me, Moya's Pilot might still be alive. I just wanted so desperately to see the stars." Pilot
"Remember when you first came here, and Velorek stroked your cheek to calm you? Back then, I couldn't imagine why he'd do such a thing. Now, I can't imagine not doing it. We've come a long way together, Pilot, and we still have a long way to go. Take the journey, with me." Aeryn

"He told me I could be more. That was exactly what you said to me my first day here." Aeryn
"And you say, you loved this man?" John

Ploppy the Kalish what an excellent idea!

I want to be the first hopefully not the last (because there is so much in this episode) to review "Through the Looking Glass".
This episode has every element that good sci fi should have.

This is the episode where John gets hot and sweaty doing chin ups and running around Moya. Make that four colourful Moyas bleary eyed red, insect zapping blue, honeycombe gold and chocolate mudcake brown yum. Plenty of action for active scapers and exhaustion for us couch potatoes.

This is D'Argo's "One mippipippi, two mippipippi" episode. And eeeewww the spew. Not once, not twice but three times. (You could tell it was fake - no carrots - I freeze framed to check.)

Chi gets called Junior Miss Tough Chick of the Universe and Pip.

Rygel gets called Buckwheat, Guido and Sparky.

Rygel: Well Moya has been for long as I can remember: our protector, our home, our companion and our friend. However as relationships grow; they also change. Do you think we could trade her for a faster vessel? and his famous "Travel in Reverse" song near the end which some people use in their sigs.

Zhaan breaks her arm and tears her fibres a throw away line which has significance in Bone to be Wild. I love the way they pick up on trivial things like that.
Along with JC: I wish people would stop pointing guns at me.

Aeryn Why did you not shoot at that thing?
JC: I don't know.
Aeryn with just the right amount of sarcasm: Brilliant instinct Crichton!!
How shippers could tell there was ever going to be a relationship between these two is beyond me.

JC Do you want to be a member of the crew?
Chi: Only on the good days
JC: This IS one of the good days

Chi: Do you know any good jokes?
JC: Not beside the one I'm living

My favourite bit is: John and Aeryn's charades in blue Moya. The rapport between these actors is amazing. I can watch these two over and over again.

...and so much more.

Pilot: At the next appropriate moment you are welcome to leave.

Too late I was well and truly hooked by this episode.
