View Full Version : "Decisive Battles" News - Sorry Ben
We recieved an email from The History Channel with a correction regarding "Decisive Battles". Ben Browder worked on the pilot of the series, but the pilot will not be televised. The regular series, which begins July 23rd on the History Channel, is hosted by Matthew Settle.

Shame, part of wanting to watch that show was because Ben Browder was going to be narrating the battles!

As long as they paid him, I won't complain... too much. I just need to know he at least got compensated. I know he isn't a millionaire; he had to look for work because he needs it, I can understand that. I'm sure he got paid some, though, so... I will say... damn, I was looking forward to seeing him!

Of course I don't know the TV business, but it seems odd that you'd hire someone to do a pilot of a series - someone who must have auditioned for said series - and then turn around and give the show to another actor and throw the pilot out!
Jeez!
Well, actually in this day and age it doesn't seem that odd! People get screwed all the time! (Screwed as in "crapped on" - in the other context, some do and some don't!)

But it it did... i'd send a couple of million scarrans to that frelling history channel and then they could try to comment that... LOL

No, they buried that too.
It's like being hired to make a recording demo as they do in the recording field and then handing the song off to someone else! I know that happens often.

Doing the pilot of a show is basically just to sell it to the network. Once the show is sold, the series is then cast and production begins. Unfortunately, although the show was picked up, there was something they must no haved liked in Ben that they liked better in this other actor......(what I have NO idea!!!) it could be a number of things.... but unfortunately that is the nature of the beast.......it sucks....but that is what happens......

Could it be that the miniseries production interfered with the History channel production? The actors did say that some had to give up other (possible) commitments to heed the Farscape call...

That's a big assumption!
There are a number of different reasons as to why Ben only did the Pilot. Maybe *he* didn't want to do the series for whatever reason. Maybe there was a scheduling conflict. Maybe a new contract couldn't be negotiated. I wouldn't assume that THC didn't like Ben, especially when there's no evidence to support that.
