The eyes the eyes. *spoilers*

I was looking at several pics of Chiana the other day, some were from the mini and some not, but looking at them I noticed that in the mini pics her eyes pupils are slits like a snake. Anyone else noticed this?........any theories?

Maybe Grunshclick (however you spell it) and the "doctor" "fix" her eyes in the mini so that she can see and have the "visions". Because they look like a cross of the two, visible pupils, but cloudy eyes, I don't know. Maybe her eyes get fixed, but they (Henson) just decided to change the look of her eyes. Only time (and leaks) will tell, just have to wait for the mini (which is really hard to do :D ).

Maybe she is half snake and her father is James Earl Jones' character from Conan The Barbarian. Really, I think it is just a continuity error. Maybe more but only time will tell.

Them There Eyes (spoiler speculations)

So what do y'all think of the cat's eyes Chiana gets in the mini? I thought it could use a thread, so I'll start it off with some of my thoughts, both pro and con.

It seems like the idea of having a synthesis of her "powers" could be very useful for action business. An ability to see in a sort of detailed slow motion what would be a blur to others, and perhaps anticipate moments into the future - especially put together, they're cool ideas.

Since the eyes we see in the mini promos are a different variation on the Chiana powers theme, it's the going theory at the moment that someone finally helped her get to a diagnosian, and that this is some treatment that prevents her from completely losing sight, at least as quickly. Perhaps it's some manner of implanted device that keeps her iris partly open, permanently or temporarily we can't tell yet.

Getting the other side of it said, are we facing a situation of permanently trading those expressive black eyes for those cat's eyes contacts?

Every actor will tell you what one looses with contacts (ask Wayne or Anthony) - yet Gigi has been uniquely able to fully express through the "black" contacts, uncompromised - and even use them to advantage, as we've all seen. It's one of the key assets that are uniquely Chiana's.

I have to say that IMO it is a steep price indeed to lose those wonderful big black eyes Gigi used to such effect for any reason, not at all the less for such a patchy subplot. I'm not implying there should be no cost, because I believe there should be. But how about something relevant to the action contexts, as the after effect idea was/could be? And mind ya, I'm discussing this on the possibility this is a permanent thing, not temporary, please note.

It's just that, on a fundamental level, we're talking the trading of one of Chiana's key assets unique to her, and profoundly important to her expressiveness to the audience, for a possible addition to an aspect she wasn't lacking in to begin with - action business. Chiana was never short on potentials in action, just short in their usage of her for action business. Watch Chiana in 'Nerve' / 'Hidden Memory', then take 10 seconds, and you'll come up with numerous action ideas she'd be particularly keen and distinctive at - ideas we may never have seen on screen yet (still!). I'm afraid I don't see where the idea would be at all wise.

I also wish there were juicier character stuffs to discuss but her vision powers stuff does seem to be "it." Well and she's back with D'Argo I guess, but it's a day late and a dollar short there IMO. So that all said... there's my speculation and concerns... yours?

I believe her eyes are a natural progression of the growth of her 'gift'. The blindness has likely receeded to cat's eyes form. She'll be able to see and to slow things down at will. Going blind is a tired plot point, thus I foresee TPTB changing her story.

For the recond. I LOVE the cat's eyes look. Makes Chiana's eyes stand out dramatically.

Dargo talks to Chiana about seeing a Diagnosan to restore her eye sight,
which answers more than just one question about the Mini....
but also knowing the Henson Co. anything is possible so only time and the Mini will tell for certain.

Remember that the Doctor has 10s of thousands of frozen bodies as "organ donors" perhaps those are Chi's eyes at all... Maybe they belonged to some other species and were compatable with Nebari...

Maybe she got an eyeball transplant from another species to replace her old burnt out ones. It seems like the most obvious explanation. I just wonder if she'll have to keep getting them replaced as she burns through them.

It would really be nice for FarScape to (finally *ahem*) make the best of her from now on (of course I'm hoping for much future FarScape) instead of taking a great thing and compromising it. I realize my concerns are only speculation about what *might* happen. Mind ya, I'm gonna enjoy it all gosh durn it! You can bet on it. The look is cool. I do think it's exciting. I'd only be concerned *if* it is a *permanent* change - to trade her expressive work with the big black eyes for cool looking cat's eyes would be a seriously bum deal, so my assumption is that they won't do that. =shrug=
