Incessant Beeping!!

my smoke detector is beeping non stop! every minute it emits a shrill BIP! that is really loud. i can hear it in the whole house. ugggh! i'd find out what was wrong with it, but a) it's 2:30 am so i can't wake up my dad, and b) i don't know whats wrong with it...batteries?

another thing is that for some reason (my imagination maybe) it seems to be getting louder?

yeah, change the batteries and see what happens... usually beeping starts when the battery is dying...

Are you sure it is not also a carbon monoxide detector also.

It so, for your own safety, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!! NOW!!

Also, later on open the windows to your house and if you have it turn on the main-ventilation-fan in your house to air out your house.
