I have an e-mail message with an embedded .gif

Windows tries to save it as a bitmap. How can I extract the .gif??? :dunno:

when you want to open it, right click the file name and see if you can just simply "save as" a .gif

do you have any conversions programs... like Conversions Plus? You save it as bitmap and then convert it into a jpeg or gif or whatever you want.

okay when you right click to "save as", and it tries to save as a .bmp, if there is no .gif in the drop down menu of file extensions, try just renaming the file _____.gif when you are saving. so instead of saving picture.bmp type in picture.gif even though .bmp is in the drop down menu thing.

hmmm... tried the brute force option of saving as .gif even without that option in the drop down menu. Created a file.gif, but lost the .gif properties and the action sequence.

The file has to be stored in a temp folder somehow but I can't locate it.

is it animated?

you will probably need to get it from the source.

This can be the only reason you want to save it as a gif and it won't allow you to, because it's animated.

what size is it?

:headbang:

yup, it's animated. can't get a size on the .gif itself, but the message is only 133KB
