Well, it's 12:50 at night and i'm bored and listening to music, and was wondering what the other scapers have been listening to lately. Right now I have on 40 Below Summer, and I'm thinking of some 3 Doors Down next, I'm not sure. I usually go for the rock, hard rock scene with bands like disturbed, a perfect circle, 3 doors down. I did see 311 in concert this summer, they were awesome live.

No ads, the Djs play and say what they want, and no horribly slanted news.
If you like more hard rock, you could also try Triple j from Sydney ,

"Here Without You" by Three Doors Down currently. With "The Image Theme of Xenosaga II" in the background.

Of late, the Solaris soundtrack, the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy soundtracks.
Solaris is unique and quite good. The Bourne soundtracks are, for what is rather heavily program music, quite a bit better than I had expected.

It's good to hear people listening to a variety of stuff. Music's always gotten me through the tough times
haha, it's strange, but some of the older music i have, like the first linkin park album, are tied to strong emotional times, such as my sophomore year in high school

Indeed, music has been by my side during the tough times I've been going through as of late, as well. "Hybrid Theory" was also there for me during my sophomore year at high school, for a number of reasons. :aok:

Right this minute I'm listening to classical. "Classical" is a bit vague, but I don't know much of anything about classical music besides that I enjoy it.
Oh, and where is Punk on the list of Genres? Cause that's what I typically listen to.

Good call on 40 Below Summer. Scene them live in a club twice, once when they were opening for Mushroomhead, again for Opeth. Great live band, with some crazy fans, a lot better live than CD.
Lets see:
Slipknot "Self Titled" "IOWA" and "VOL 3"
Mushroomhead (who 'Knot ripped off) "XIII" (My favorite band, great live, I have all but one of their indy releases and both their major label albums)
Otep "House of Secrets"
Himsa (Saw them live this week)
All That Remains
Static-X "Shadow Zone" (saw them live this week, incredible, some crazy fans)
Shadows Fall "The Art of Balance" (Saw them live this week)
Remembering Never (Saw them live this week)
Hollister Fracus "Scar" (Saw them live this week, great local Houston band. Do these guys a favor and check their website (www.hollisterfracus.com/))
SOiL "Scars" and whatever their new album is called. Again, saw them live, rocked ass!
The Dillinger Escape Plan "Miss Machine"
So metal, nu-metal, and hardcore
Old school or new school?
Old. But I don't entirely dislike new.

I listened to Nina Hagen's latest offering "Big Band Explosion" while cleaning my living room yesterday.
Anyone familiar with Ms. Hagen's work (Nunsexmonkrock) can well imagine that while it was definately big band music, it did not escape her usual (unusual?) style of singing.
It was rather fun!

I am so relieved to hear that from somebody other than me... some folks I say that too look at me like I just stepped off a flying saucer!
I'm primarily a soundtrack/instrumental/classical fan because they provide an emotional content somewhat free of context. Sure, soundtracks sometimes harken back to the film... but usually for me, they have an independent value too.
When times are tough, I literally feel through music, even internalizing the music to the point that it is playing in the back of my head most of the time.

I saw Flaw with Elemement 80, 40 Below Summer, and Ill Nino a few months back. Great live band, I was singing along with "Payback" good enough that the guitar player pointed me out and threw his pick to me. Their new CD is horrible though.
I forgot to put Monster Magnet and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult on the list as well!

Yes, bands like. I don't listen to all the bands you have listed, only about half. My favorite band ever is Bad Religion, they have been for the past 10+ years. I got a bloody nose from being kicked in the face at a No Use for a Name show...before the show even started. Ahhh Fugazi. My friend had a cat named Fugazi. That cat was insane.
So, other than "old" and "new", are there any other classifications for punk? Like, middle school punk? Another favorite punk band of mine is Strung Out, but no one ever knows who they are. Anyway, they aren't old school but I certainly wouldn't call them new either (I've been listening to them for the past 8/9 years).

I went by myself cause I couldn't get any of my buddies to get off their asses to go with me... so... Anyway, on ones side of the stage were Racist Skins on the other end of the stage were the Anti's... first note of the first song "Trip at the Brain"... a huge brawl started up between the two groups. It was a huge mess... a riot. I left the show with a split lip, a black eye, and bloody knuckles and elbows. I have only been to one show that was worse... a Slayer show where someone was impaled on a broken chair.

ah yes, element 80 and ill nino, great bands as well. I have both of ill nino's cds, and they really combine metal with the spanish undertones. Element 80 is just good hard rock period. When Flaw played "payback" live, the place just exploded. There was more energy for Flaw than for Drowning Pool and the rest of the bands combined. New drowning pool sucks pretty bad :(
I've been listening to Godsmack lately too and Lacuna Coil

oh yeah, the concert wasn't ended... Slayer kept on playing. EMS and Cops just worked around it. It was a surreal situation. The guy wasn't on the ground, one of his buddies picked him up. The only reason I knew about this... was because the girl that I was dating at the time had gotten elbowed in the... chest. So I was guarding her and two of her friends... so that they weren't... elbowed again. The EMS were about 15 feet from us. The guy didn't want to go to the hospital... he was fighting the EMS because he wanted to see the end of the show. They finally got him out before the show ended... cause he was starting to faint. He had refused treatment... and the cops finally said that they had to take him out. The 'Arena' that the Slayer show was at is called the Aragon Ballroom... but when there are heavy bands playing their... it is called the Brawlroom. The Suicidal show was at The Vic I think... I know it wasn't the Riviara... could have been the Cubby Bear... don't recall

To anyone who's never heard AS, the best way to describe it is, it's a mix between Slipknot and Children of Bodom: the music and singing of CoB and the singing of the lead singer of Slipknot (AS has two singers)
