I got the best surprise last night when I got home. My hubby went out and got us a brand new entertainment center..
To go with that, he got a BRAND NEW 34" TELEVISION!!!! I know it's not one of the huge huge ones (like a 52") or anything like that, but it's massive compared to our old tv.... I'm just so excited about this!! I get to watch the mini on a huge television, so I'll get to see so much more of the details...
Which, of course, brings me to my question.....
What will YOU be watching the mini on? :D

I'm working on getting my family our first house! It's a nightmare of paperwork, but the people selling are great people so far, so maybe I'll have a new house for my new tv to go in!

Hey, nothing wrong with a 27" TV :D I've got a TV that's about 12 years old and just won't die. It's cheap, small and crappy and doesn't even have proper inputs for DVD players and such, but I felt guilty getting rid of it since it still works. Now I'm moving to a new townhouse, and *finally* I felt like I had a reason to buy a new TV (the old one doesn't have to die now -- it can go upstairs). The new Sony is a 27" and I am thrilled about that because it's going to be such a huge step up from what I've been using!

my tv is the size of a wall. sort of. i've got projection screen downstairs, but it doesn't have satellite. so i watch movies on it. the 48 inch (i think its 48. could be 45) is in the family room. my dad spends the most time watching it. i've got a small one in my room. it suits me quite well.

Be careful with that.
Once I had gummi bears, and I named them and then couldn't bear (heh) to eat them. I think they're still in a drawer somewhere.

Kathleen, I'm happy for you. I'm glad you were happy and did not kill your husband. I have friends who almost died buying a cue stick. I am fortunate that my wife likes the same things I do, so I have lots of equipment.
I will hopefully be watching the Farscape mini using my projector. I think it's about 190" right now. There is a problem with the signal from the Direct tv reciever to the projector where there are shadows, so until I fix this problem I only view DVDs on it. I've got a 36" just in case.

51" plasma with Dolby 6.1. Sadly SFC is not offered in HD so it will not take up the whole screen. I'd have to do some serious hardware reworking to copy it to computer off the tape or maybe the other TV, take out the commercials, convert to DVD and burn so I can watch it on the whole screen. Am I gonna do it? Probably. Unless I hear the DVD of the mini is coming out in short order, I'll figure out how to make it work. ;)
AgentSun
08-08-2004, 06:14 PM
if you do that, i want to put in an order right now! cause i don't have a dvd burner!

my wall is...i don't know how big my wall is. we were going to have a 180 inch screen, except the motor on the screen (for it to roll up and down) didn't work and my parents decided against getting one at all. so far, no one's complained.

I use my left or right arm as a motor for the screen.

51" plasma with Dolby 6.1. DVD audio capable?
LT Garrix
08-08-2004, 09:46 PM
DVD audio capable?
Of course. :D This was the spare no expense entertainment center. Most people drive cars that don't cost as much, well, used cars anyway. The only thing we didn't get was a DVD burner. Not sure why he made that choice.
I need to optest the whole computer thing and see how decent a quality I can get.
Lord Loser
08-08-2004, 09:54 PM
Do you have any DVD audio's then? I'm curious if they're worth the price...
LT Garrix
08-08-2004, 09:58 PM
I've never actually shelled out for a DVD audio. Wish I could tell you. I really don't buy much in the way of music anymore. I have heard that if you have high end receiver and speakers that it is much clearer, but you can't play it in your car and if I go the mp3 player route, it really doesn't matter as you lose out on the quality then anyway.

62" DLP flat panel monitor with 6:1 Dolby surround sound, in a completely dark room (except of course the screen). I will be recording it on a DVD recorder hard drive for future edits and burn to DVD.

My friend has a 55" TV with surround sound. I have invited myself over for the mini. He has never seen Farscape, so it will be a real pleasure to introduce him to it.
He's also going to Tivo it.

A 28" widescreen TV assuming the mini airs in the UK. If not I'll be downloading it to my computer and watching it there (I might try making a VCD of it or something, but I haven't figured out how to do this. Nero keeps messing up, or maybe my dvd player doesn't play cds well).
