The office manager has her radio on and it's a station that plays songs from the 60s to present. Some songs are so dated it's funny. Others... I don't want to say are 'timeless' but still sound cool today.
For some reason most things by Tears for Fears falls into this catagory, for me at least. And it wasn't like I was a fan even when they were new. It's just the songs aren't to dated by anything in the song. Same with 'Cruel Summer' buy (I think) Bananarama. (The name dates them however! :lol )
The Who and Zepplin always sound cool. And Santana. And INXS too.
So... anyone got any others?

"Don't Fear The Reaper". I can listen to any version of this song... Apollo 440's, The Mutton Birds, Gus' version... and the original Blue Oyster Cult. There are 4 other versions by 4 different bands that I haven't heard yet... and am debating wether to buy them from Itunes

CLINT RUIN / LYDIA LUNCH:don't fear the reaper

"Light My Fire" is a classic song... even though I prefer Type O Negative's version better than The Doors original

Also:
"Stuck in the Middle with You" by Steelers Wheels, just because of the scene in Resevior Dogs.

Any song by the Rolling Stones pre-1975 (I'm a big fan of the non-hits myself. Songs like Monkey Man, Let it Bleed, Dance Little Sister, Girl With Faraway Eyes, etc)

And I couldn't help but watch "YLUML". It stared the women who played Frenchie in "Grease". I had a big crush on her back when that movie came out. I don't knwo why.

you're killing me.....okay how about "The Wiz" with Michael Jackson and Diana Ross?Oh, absolutely. And Nipsy Russell as the Scarecrow!

I loved musicals when I was a kid growing up. I saw all the Bing Crosby, Fred Astair and Gene Kelly movies. I almost always give musicals a chance. With the exception of Xanadu, which I knew was a dog the first time I heard about it.

The Commitments with Andrew Strong
Streets of Fire with Diane Lane & Michael Pare

Breaking Glass with Hazel O'ConnorFirst, I never said the earlier movies were good, just that I'd seen them. Once.

Now, as for The Commitments. Loved that movie. "Say it once. Say it loud. I'm black, and I'm proud". I've seen it 3 or 4 times.

I've seen Streets of Fire a couple of times. Not a great movie, but there were some good parts. Loved the fight scene with Pare and Willem Dafoe.

I've seen Eddie and the Cruisers a half dozen times. It's got Joey Pants for crying out loud! And it's a blatant ode to The Doors and Jim Morrison.

I've never seen Breaking Glass. I may need to check that out.

Breaking Glass is set in early '80's punk rock scene in London....an aquired taste.

I'm just amazed that you've heard or seen all of these!

"I'm black and I'm proud".

"I'm black and I'm proud".I'll definitely need to check that out then! I love Punk Rock. Ramones. Clash. Sex Pistols. And now Green Day.

And like I said, I will watch just about any musical once because I grew up watching them. I lived in a house where music was very important. One of my brothers is a world class classical musician and we all played in the band (and I sang in the choir too in Junior High).

I loved Xanadu!!

Another Olivia Newton John Song

There used to be a record/cd store in Brookline, Mass that did takes on singers names on the dividers in the racks. I'll always remember that for Olivia that had "Olivia Neutron Bomb"!

Forever Young - Dylan ;)

"What Do You Want From Life"....The Tubes (could have put "Don't Touch Me There" or "White Punks on Dope" but they're just personal favs.

Classic lyrics:

Well, you can't have that, but if you're an American citizen you are entitled to:
a heated kidney shaped pool,
a microwave oven--don't watch the food cook,
a Dyna-Gym--I'll personally demonstrate it in the privacy of your own home,
a king-size Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum,
a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi,
real simulated Indian jewelry,
a Gucci shoetree,
a year's supply of antibiotics,
a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth
and Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number,
a beautifully restored 3rd Reich swizzle stick,
Rosemary's baby,
a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams,
a new Matador, a new mastodon,
a Maverick, a Mustang, a Montego,
a Merc Montclair, a Mark IV, a meteor,
a Mercedes, an MG, or a Malibu,
a Mort Moriarty, a Maserati, a Mac truck,
a Mazda, a new Monza, or a moped,
a Winnebago--Hell, a herd of Winnebago's we're giving 'em away,
or how about a McCulloch chainsaw,
a Las Vegas wedding,
a Mexican divorce,
a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot,
or a baby's arm holding an apple?

Couldn't have said it better!

It doesn't have the same meaning now that I don't get summers off... dammit. :grr:
(I think we should. And mandatory snow days too. The gov't picks random days, makes an announcement and NO ONE has to go to work that day... Wouldn't that be cool?!? I think so. Nothing like thinking you have to be somewhere you don't want to and finding out you don't. ;) )
