What a race.

A win for Kimi and McLaren... who would have thought that McLaren would win a race this year? Not me. I figured that they would win again next season, but Kimi survived the first lap incidents and continued to the victory.
Trouble for the Renaults... no luck there. Pizzonia was excellent for Williams, but ended up out of the race.
A what a run for Ferrari powered vehicles. The Factory cars were 2 and 3 and the Privateer Ferrari's were 4 and 5. I figured the Ferrari powered cars would be dominant at Spa... which is one of my favorite tracks... but I didn't think that 4 of the top 5 placed cars would be Ferrari powered.
Second place gives Michael Shumacher his 7th Championship... truly amazing. So Ferrari has the Constructors and the Drivers Championship... again. :woohoo:

This was a great race. There was so much happening. I enjoyed Montoya's aggressive driving style with him passing Schumacher in the new chicane. I could almost see him giving the finger :P

Renault was having a hard time. It seemed Trulli wasn't entirely focused. He didn't show any effort to block Schumacher. With Montoya however it was the other way around resulting in a collision.

A well deserved win for Kimi Raikkonen. I hope he's going to make it big time next year. Michael Schumacher has his 7th Championship Title, two more than every other driver in history. Excellent performance. August 2004 will be a month to remember by Ferrari.

The chicane isn't new... it was changed a little from what it used to be... but there always was a chicane there. That chicane is where the term 'Bus Stop' Chicane came from. When it was an open road, there was a bus stop there, along with the requisite rain shell.

Yeah, I should've said changed instead of new.

I didn't. What a race. In the end I thought there would be no more cars left to get all the points they distribute. What is it with the wheels these days? Is it all the scrap parts from the accidents that cuts them open or are the drivers more reckless?

It is all the carbon shards and that is why the FIA will probably be making Kevlar mandatory. Michelins are more susceptible to having problems like that. If there aren't 8 cars running, the last cars out would get the points. Something like that almost happened at Spa in 98 when there was the biggest pile up in F1 history. I think it was 20 cars invovled. In the end all but 4 drivers got away at the start as the team Primary Drivers were using the spare car.

I love Eau Rouge, Blanchimont and La Source. Those are some of the best corners in Road Racing. Better than any of the corners at Le Mans.

Oh, and who else thought the race should have been red flagged so that the track could have been properly swept?

I thought that this would have been better, especially as we have seen later with all the trouble with the tyres.

two races this year should have been Red Flagged, the US Grand Prix and the Belgian Grand Prix. And look at what happened when they weren't... more accidents. Jenson Buttons collision into Bruni could have been a serious one...
