nasty. :yuck:
If any of you have had the unfortunate experience of drinking this dren then you know what I'm talking about.
I've only got half the bottle down and less than two hours till I'm supposed to finish it. ::shudders::
Sorry, I just had to share my misery with everyone. :(

I was wondering the same thing, so I looked it up:
NuLYTELYŽ with Flavor Packets (PEG-3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution) is indicated for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy. NuLYTELY provides effective and fast cleansing of the gastrointestinal tract and is specially formulated for better taste.

Ewwwww.... sounds kinda gross. I hope everything turned out ok!

I had the "joy" to go trought a colonoscopy last year and had to drink the same kind of product.
Mine didn't have flavor and it was like drinking 2 liters of salted water. :yuck:
Perfectly disgusting.
But quite effective.
Just be prepared to the fact that your toilets are going to be your new HQ for a while : a good pile of magazines is most welcome :D

Ten years ago I had the older version, GoLytely and it was absolutely horrid. I couldn't even drink all the stuff. I got about half of it down and vomited the rest. I thought the name was a really terrible joke, because you don't "go lightly", nor does that dren go down lightly.
I wish you better luck with the next part than I had. Hopefully you are through it by now, but I have never experienced anything that painful before or since.

I had a short general anesthesia for the examination.
That is so much better, both for the patient and for the doctor...

I too have experienced the joys of the incredibly poorly named GoLytely. It always made me laugh wheneve I had to drink it. THe laughter didn't last very long though, about as long as it took to take that first swallow. I feel a bit nauseous just thinking about it.
I've had about 5 colonoscopies in my life, as well as several other fun procedures, having suffered from Crohn's disease for 20 years. But luckily, as weetabix pointed out, they now general give you a valium/demerol shot (what I call a "hot shot") before the procedure. Doesn't make up for the 24 hours leading up to it though.

The worst part of the whole thing was indeed the NuLytely. Apparently there is other stuff out there and if/when I have to do this again, I'm going to request an alternative.
The general anesthesia was a blessing. I went to sleep and woke up a bit later without a problem.
The doc ended up doing a biopsy but he's confident it will come back OK. I'll just have to wait and see.

It all comes out okay in the end.

Probably a little late now, but when you have to drink something nasty holding your nose can help as smell is a very large part of taste. It won't make it better, but should help out some.
Um...I'm just gonna resist making any of those fun little comments that go along so well with the thought of coloscopy, I'm sure you've heard them.
