I teach grammar & writing at a local community college, and when I made up one of the tests last week, I used Farscape in a couple of questions. Muuuuhhhaahhhaaaa. They were 'scaped and didn't know it. :D

Was that wrong of me? :innocent: :lol

I can't recall the exact questions now (keep that Aurora Chair away from me! :D), but it was something to do with "My favorite show is..." and then was punctuated incorrectly(to be corrected in the test). :lol

Maybe I should start using Farscape in the examples I use on the board....every day so that they really notice it....hehehehe......

"Hello, my name is Mr. Burns, I hear you have a package for me"
"Ok Mr. Burns, what's your first name."
"I dooon't knoooow"

Haha, sorry, had to go off topic and throw a simpsons quote in there. I wish I had the opportunity to scape that many people at once. I must resort to my roommate and close friends!

I like this idea UM
tried it once. I did a project on wormholes in physics and talked about unrealized realities which by the way are a real theory. No one in my class had ever enven heard of parrallel dimensions. What is this world coming to?

Trust me, this place is a last, safe refuge of the English language compared to some other messageboards. I can handle the rare misspellings and typos around here. I've seen a few where I though the posts were in some bizarre version of drunken Swedish for about 3 minutes. Then I realized it was a combination of netspeak and bad spelling. And heaven forbid some people actually use a comma or full stop. And the return key! Or shift! The only person allowed to do that is e.e. cummings! Or limit themselves to a reasonable number of exclamation points!!!!!!!1111!!!!!eleventy-one!

90% of the stories posted on fanfiction.net make me cringe. Especially when the authors seem downright proud of their horrendous spelling and massacring if the English. Like it would kill then to find a decent beta reader and use a spellcheck before posting. And hey, even the professionals aren't immune. Anyone read Anne Rice's little temper tantrum on Amazon.com about the negative reviews? Doesn't need an editor, indeed!

But I'm sure you're teaching your students better, right, aerynmoon? Or at the very least, they're learning to have decent taste in television...
