2004 Frelly Awards Nominations

Rules for Nominations


1. You must register your current screen name to post a Nomination.

2. All Nominations must be backed up with a link or a post number and thread. This will show what exactly they are nominated for. No link, No Nomination.

3. No random posting or conversations at the Nominations site. They can be done here if need be. We want to keep the Nomination board as clean and easy to read as possible.

4. The cut off dates for all nominations is October 1, 2003 to October 1, 2004. All entries have to fall within these dates to qualify.

5. Nominate as many as you want. But only the top 8 will be allowed to be voted on. The Voting site only supports 8 nominations per catagory.

6. All nominations will be checked for eligibility for the category in which they are nominated.

7. The closing date for nominating will be October 15, 2004. Nominations received after that date will not be considered.

8. The Frelly nominating committee's decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.



Disclaimer: Committee reserves the right to delete threads and posts that are not a nomination only. We also reserve the right to delete Nominators that are in violation of these rules.

You will get a password in your email. Unless you want me to, I can set one for you. Its set up just like the Base. :D

What do you mean abstain? If there's a category that you want to nominate please do so. This only works if we all participate. You've been here long enough to know who should get an award for something brilliant or gross!

Hang in there folks - there must be a slight glitch in the system. BC will attempt to work wonders and deal with the problem expeditiously. Thanks for letting us know that you are having difficulties logging in.

In the mean time start jotting down the people / projects you think deserve a mention and do the search for the website links, that way you can post your nominations much quicker once you get access to the site.

Are the specific categories within the categories that we're supposed to nominate people under? Or, like many a thing around here, are we making it up as we go along? :D I can't access the different forums to see.

I knew this would be a problem. BC worked so hard on getting the web site set up so she was fully conversant with the sections and the awards and it didn't seem like a problem to her. But if you haven't seen the sections and the awards then you don't have a clue - especially if you're relatively new around here.
I will get her to post a summary here as many of the awards from last year are still there.

The main categories in the mean time include things like
fundraising
promoting Farscape
convention organizing
convention reporting
writing
creating cool dren
graphic designing
signatures and avatars
and the usual fooling around that prevails :D

So even if you're not 100% sure about the categories think in those broad terms until we get the real list up for FYI.

BrowderChick has informed me that the problem with passwords not getting through is due to people having AOhelL :shrug:

If you really have tons of trouble may I suggest you get a hotmail account just for the interim - it's free anyway and if you don't use it for a month it deletes automatically. It's a good account to have if you need people to send you stuff and you don't want them finding out too much about you - which paid accounts could reveal.

We have yet to identify our dedicated campaign writers - who are you and what have you been writing to the advertisers?

In fact we have 1 person who has been putting up the list of advertisers for almost the entire past year - come on someone knows who you are - get over to the nomination site and put up this person for an award.

I don't know if y'all have considered this or not, but in case it's not to late to incorporate into the rules/voting I'd like to suggest something. Some people cough*ratscape*cough are being nominated multiple times in the same category because they have done so much. It would be a tremendous shame if they were to have their votes split because they have so many amazing nominated projects to choose from. So I was wondering if on the final ballot in each category you might just list the individual nominee and beside each name show all the projects in that category for which they were nominated, rather than listing each project.

I know ratscape is already nominated twice in at least one category and I wouldn't be surprised if he's nominated again for other work. Some of the other artists are going to be in the same boat because they've done so many projects. It's bound to happen in other categories as well.

I debuted it at Scapercon last year (hmm... maybe I also wore at least part of it at ComicCon 2003 as well), so I don't know if it is eligible. I did wear it at the 2004 Pitt Comicon, 2004 San Diego comic con, and 2004 Dragon Con.

Theoretically that would be okay in a couple of the categories where it's for a person. But in a category where it's a specific project that is being recognized - like a fundraiser - then it can't be multiple projects listed - you'd have to pick a specific one.
