I just had to post this. A pundit on NBC was defending Cat Stevens' detention. He said, "There are many reasons a person might end up on a terrorist watch list. For instance, if he had a history of suicide bombing..."

"...a history of suicide bombing..."
Now THAT I'd really like to see - a chronic, serial suicide bomber, much less one who got famous singing "Moonshadow" or the LP "Teaser and the Firecat".
I love the fact that the press is working so hard at their fact-checking these days...

and here I thought... it was a one time thing... or something.
Also, I agree with the Cat 'Yusef Islam' Stevens deportation... anything to not have to listen to 'Peace Train' ever again... [/sarcasm]

This story was funny from start to finish. When I first heard about it, the reporter said that Islam was forbidden to land in the United States, so the plane was diverted to Maine. I was unaware that Maine had left the union.
I guess his 'morning was broken'

That's why I watch The Daily Show for my news...at least I know they're intentionally funny.

I suppose you could have a history of attempted suicide bombing?

attempted suicide bombing
Is that when you try to kill yourself by drinking too much?
I've always thought that Cat Stevens was Osama's right hand

More news announcements that could have been better worded...
My town is a very sports-oriented town. I've heard our sports announcers talk about "winning-streaks" when we win a single game, as in "We've got a one-game winning-streak going here!" Excuse me, that's a winnining spot. A streak is a line, goes from here to there - not here to nowhere.

You would be have to be really useless to be a serial suicide bomber. Can't do anything right the first time can you? Hopefully failure is the trend of the future.

I still remember a quote from CNN on 9/11:
"We can only assume that the terrorists' intended target was not a field in Pennsylvania"
Well...DUH.

In related news, an arrest warrant has been issued for one Paul Simon by Interpol. Mr. Simon and an accomplice are being charged with poisoning a Chilean water silo with four herbs of unknown composition. After an exhaustive chase, his accomplice was cornered and dove off a 300-foot cliff to his death.

Yes, that would be more of a "winning coordinate", recalling my higher math...

We're working on it. We're going to become our own little nation so the rest of the US stops making fun of our accent!! Ayuh - by gumby!!
I was going to go scout out the story, but Bangor is too far away from my house and not worth the drive! I was thinking about getting my old Cat Stevens LPs autographed!
Too bad, guess he won't be back for awhile!

With a name like "Cat", he is certainly an agent of Chaos, if not Satan incarnate... :kitty:
