We finally got a decision from the boss' bosses on whether Dr Pepper would sponsor after parties for the premieres of A Killer Within .

I believe the official word is that they had to cut some budget items, and we were one of the things that got cut.

My personal observation is that the people at Dr Pepper in Plano were all really nice people who were willing to talk to us on the phone and responded to our emails and cards. They said they were working hard to get the sponsorship through for us.

My gratitude and respect for Dr Pepper, Plano!!!

The guy at Cadbury-Schweppes, Steve Jarmin, never responded to either phone calls or mail. I don't think he ever even looked at either the movie or the cards and emails we sent.

So, a big Ppphhhhttttt!!! to Cadbury-Schweppes!!! When just little ole me wrote to Hershey's last year about Farscape, at least they acknowledged my letter with an answer! It was a form letter type response, and they didn't commit to supporting my request, but they let me know that they cared about me being one of their customers!!!

Hershey Corp. ..................... 1000 points for PR
Cadbury-Schweppes ............ -1000 points for the lack of PR and making me feel like they don't give a flip about our loyalty or our business. I can only assume that they have no interest in a large, determined, professional, and affluent fan base as their customers.

So, as for me and my house.... please pass me the Coke and some Hershey's bars!!! ...I'll take a bunch of those Kit Kats, too!!! ...OK, I'll have a Dr Pepper next round. Gotta keep Holly and Mary working because they are really great girls!!!

PS -- I'm not complaining about being turned down. That's just business. I'm complaining about being ignored, and not even being given any consideration. Failing to even take a look at the cards, letters, emails, the movie itself -- is the same thing as a slap in the face.

If I'm wrong, Mr. Jarmin, show me!!!

Like I say, Hershey's took the time to respond, and even though it wasn't the answer I wanted, at least somebody took the time to forward my letter to their PR department!!!!

... and NONE of this reflects anything Brad Keller or Fireside has said. Just IMO. I HATE being ignored or underestimated!

Ahh man, that stinks! Well, it's certainly not for lack of trying!! You get major brownie points for all the work you did for that!! Here's to Hershey & Dr. P and :ppbb: to cadbury-schweppes.

Yeah, when us scapers went to meet at Hershey - it had flooded the night of our meet & the main park was closed. It was Hershey's last weekend - they gave us tickets for next year with no hassle. That's good PR.

Probably should have told them that you prefer Coke to Dr. Pepper anyway and Nestle and Hershey chocolate is way better than Cadbury's. :aok:

I am a little confused. Why would Dr. Pepper or Cadbury-Swepps be the one to host the After party.

Ah, Grinner -- I guess you missed the first 2 or three threads. There was a post card and email push to show Dr Pepper that there was enough Scaper interest in them sponsoring after parties for the Killer Within premieres, and Scapers would have been invited. Dr Pepper was already a sponsor. It also would have given the cast and crew and writers and director a chance to meet and greet all of us, too.

And - maybe some publicity for all of the above. But, alas, it's not to be, unless another sponsor comes up. Sadly, Cadbury-Scheppes (the company that ownes Dr Pepper) kept dragging their feet, and then decided on a "No" at this late date.
