A big problem with Farscape is not enough people know what the show is about, however once people give farscape time & start watching some of the important episodes the world of Farscape becomes a fantastic place
Many firefly fans also think its a great show saying its better than other alien sci-fi shows out there.
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=8&t=7356
One of the things I've noticed about other sci-fi shows is that they are more available on vhs / dvd and they sometimes have a special volume DVD like star trek or the best-episodes of Season 1 like Stargate

What would be great is if Farscape had a DVD like this. The SG-1 and Babylon-5 stuff has done very well on a global level, they also have subtitle options and multiple language soundtracks
It would be great if Farscape could do the same and include some really good episodes which would help new fans get into Season 1 and on to Season 2.

So if you had to pick 4-5 Farscape Episodes to cram into one DVD, which ones would you pick ?

I suppose this topic might have been covered before ...how to scaping a friend / workmate...how to get new scapers

But if you had pick 4 Episodes which summed up Farscape best, which ones would they be ? :)

Here's mine:

1 - The Premier
John says goodbye to family n friends launches his experimental mission from Earth :D gets shot through a wormhole and captured by Peacekeepers

2 - PK tech girl
Crew of Moya find a derelict PK ship they meet Gilina who helps them fight off an attack from mean fire breathing aliens ;)

3 - That old black magic
Crichton meets Maldis, an evil sorcerer this is a really cool episode , very spaced out  Zhaan and Crais are fantastic

4 - A human reaction
John sees a wormhole with a door leading straight back home to Earth, his alien friends ( D'argo , Aeryn , Rygel )
wondering if John got back home plan on following him to Earth

( - 5 ) - ( Nerve ) If they could squash another episode on this DVD, for the Fifth I would choose Nerve , it's fast , it has action and the horrible scorpius

It's got the Premier, DNA Mad Scientist, A Human Reaction, Nerve, Hidden Memory and Family Ties. :D

It's a great collection to introduce people to Farscape.

It is how I 'scaped my brother-in-law and his wife last Christmas. :lol They did the rest thru netflix and now they are as anxious for the mini-series as I am.

:elol:

Well, maybe not quite as anxious. Nobody is as anxious as I am.... except for the other 6999 members of this board of course....;)

i picked up 2 sets of "Farscape: The Best of Season One" and donated one to
the library. i keep the other set to lend to friends and possible future new fans.
"Firefly" is my second favorite cancelled tv show. can't wait for "serenity".

Hm... On the region 2 release of season 3 there is actually an episode called "Undressed" which basically is a documentary hosted by Ben, Claudia and Rygel (!) that explains "what-it`s-all-about".

Must have's for Season 1 primer are
Premiere
PK Tech Girl
A Human Reaction
Nerve
The Hidden Memory

Of course there are gaps here - it would be also ideal to have Durka Returns and A Bugs Life for the other eps to make sense.

However, if you are thinking of buying DVDs, the following "couples" cover most of the basics of Season 1...
1.1 / 1.4 / 1.8 /1.9 / 1.10

I agree. It's an excellent intro for anyone who hasn't seen Farscape before - and even for those of us who have watched every episode umpteen times.

I really wish they would have included it on the US releases. It was a good wrap up of seasons 1 & 2.

i have it on tape, but i sure wish they had released it on DVD. it would be
a great "extra" on the "Peacekeeper Wars" DVD.

Just so everyone knows the "Best of Season 1" DVD contains:
Premiere
DNA Mad Scientist
A Human Reaction
Nerve
The Hidden Memory
Family Ties

I bought it off amazon.com's marketplace for $12. It's a great deal for 6 episodes. There's commentary for the Pilot and Family Ties. Incidentally this makes it a deal for the die hard fans because the normal Born to tbe Wild/Family Ties DVD doesn't have any commentary for Family Ties. I watched 3/4 of the season at college a few years ago and found the Best of DVD a great way to refresh myself on Season 1.
