Uniforms and insignia?

I'm confused by PK uniforms and insignia? How can you tell a person's rank. I see Scorpious & Grayza wear "tails." If I were a Peacekeeper I would live in fear of fancy dress, otherwise how is rank determined.

It seems like a lot of Peacekeeper rank is determined by the uniform you have. Foot soldiers and pilots have the black helmets and shoulder armor, captains have the red and black leather jacket/pant getup while techs have the brown or green jumpsuits. Maybe PKs with unconventional uniforms are recognized as being special or perhaps all soldiers know who they are.

I believe captains have 3 metal insignia shaped like relaxed boomerangs at their sleeve cuff.

Captains have 5, I think lieutenants have 4, but I'd have to watch an episode again. Either look at Braca at the end of season 1 or Larrell from ITLD. I checked some screen caps and I can't really tell if it's 3 or 4. As for the others, no clue. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency in PK uniforms.

I think the uniforms differentiate from regiment to regiment and branch to branch. Example; a pilot in the Pleimar regiment may be different from a pilot in another regiment. And rank indicates a difference also. The higher they are, they more they seem to wear what they must, or what they want to. Note Scorpius and Grayza. Crais did seem to wear a more conventional uniform than either of them, tho.

I've just been watching "A Bugs life" and the rancks seem for the comandows to be dependant on how many sqares are on the sholder gard.

The Farscape producers should make PK rank graphics. There are ones for Starfleet in Star Trek, so why not for PK's
