View Full Version : Question about Dargo
Basicly, i'm just curious about one thing, why did Dargos eyes change from green to blue, did I miss something?

Don't think there was a reason for it. Maybe it's one of those lighting things. I know my eyes change from green to brown depending on lighting conditions.

Actually, the green color comes from contact lenses. Partway through one of the early episodes (I, E.T.?), some of the make up/prosthetic removing chemicals injured Anthony's eyes and as a result he had to leave the contacts out for a while. Anthony preferred the no-contact version of D'Argo and talked TPTB into agreeing that D'Argo could keep Anthony's eyes. :D
Why D'Argo's changed though, we'll never know. Must be a Luxan thing. ;)

My theory for the eye change as well as the S1/S2 change is that Luxans undergo physiological changes when they are inactive for long periods, such as D'Argo was during his captivity.

Well, they certainly changed the make-up between Season 1 and Season 2... D'Argo darkened a good bit. But hey, he just may have caught one hell of a tan when they blew up that Gammak base moon... and an extended period in a vacuum may have tanned his hide!

But, in season 4 there are flashbacks to D'Argo's life before being imprisoned, with the darker look. The only thing that makes sense is a temporary condition.
Heck, maybe the PKs drugged him, and that had an effect on his appearance that lasted an entire cycle.

I remember reading somewhere that when doing the flashbacks in S4, they didnt have the time and/or money to recreate his S1 look.
But again, keeping in farscape, suppose he could have been ill or malnourished from PK imprisonment...
Gotta admit though, the change from "Family Ties" to "Mind the Baby" is pretty sudden.
They could have at least wrote a short line or too for J.C. eg "Hey D, whas up with your eyes... they kinda changed", that way the writers could have created a Luxan trait, for example what EdenisT said, Luxans eyes could go green when they are malnurished or something.

Would it be the same reason their skin turns from light tan to reddish brown? http://www.farscapeworld.com/gallery/10101/10101-079.jpghttp://www.farscapeworld.com/gallery/10202/10202-022.jpg

Remembering my 6th grade xeno-biology report, Luxans have been observed to undergo vast physiological changes when malnourished, experiencing illness or when placed under extreme levels of stress. All of which were experienced by the specimen Ka 'Dargo.

Yeah, they actually talk about that in a commentary I was watching from the first Starburst volume. They decided to scrap the whole contact thing in the first season, and then I think they went back and tried it again in a later season, but Anthony didn't react well to the lenses.

I tend to think that the Luxans have something in their genes that makes the eyes turn blue when they fall in love. When D'argo fell for Chiana, his eyes went blue.
(Hell, it's a nice thought, anyway)....
And what about when D'Argo found out about Pip and Jothee, did the anger make his eyes stay blue?
