View Full Version : So who's getting ready to take a temporary leave?

I would do a poll here but can't think of how to do one.
This applies for those outside the US, or those who won't be able to see the mini when it airs. Will you be leaving the forums to keep away from possible spoilers, and then afterwards come back?
I think I will. I know that Red and the rest of the mods would try their best to keep the forums spoiler-free for us (so we'd know if we were about to see one), but we also know that can take a couple of minutes to happen. We know people post spoilers in their topic names, and when the mini airs this place will be swarmed with people posting topics saying "OMG! Rygel has been skewered like a kebab and garnished with lettuce" (or words to that effect - hey, I may actually put that into my sig).
I will however say (and I am in no way advocating or endorsing this) that I will be downloading the mini ASAP. But do not worry - I will also be watching it when it airs in the UK, and of course buying the DVDs.

In spite of the attempts by both this board and Kansas to keep spoilers away from we non US fans I will be signing off the forums as of next Sunday before the mini airs. I have no will power plus I know that there will be innocent mistakes made by those posting.
Hopefully my tape will clear customs and be in my VCR very soon - until then I will be gone. I would love to know ratings though - although not sure how soon that sort of information will be available anyway.

I'm sorry to hear that some of you will be temporarily leaving, but I can understand how you feel. Even the best intentioned Scapers sometimes get carried away. Already I have learned things about the mini I didn't want to by titles in posts and people posting in the wrong forum with title that gives no warning it's about the mini. Just today I got whammied with another one here.
As I'm on the West Coast, I will be logging off when the show starts on the east coast and staying off until Monday after I've seen the whole thing. I don't trust those that have part 2 spoilers to keep quiet. I know they wouldn't mean to, but it would happen.
I think the worst place would be the Dom, but seriously, there isn't much going on over there other than some sniping amongst about 5 ot 6 people over idiotic things. I just check for the occasional meaningful post.
Hopefully all of y'all will have quick tape faries so you can rejoin us.

i'm gonig to try my best to sign off next sunday before the mini air because i know if i'm in here i'll run thre risk of going in a spoiler thread and spoiling myself before the mini air but i don't know if i have the will power. plus the beeb are taking ages on whether or not there guna show the mini so i dont know how long i'll have to saty out of the forum which is annoying. hurry up bbc!

Don't understand Auntie Beeb's actions. They know how dedicated the fans are... you would think that they would show it right away so that they don't lose out on the Ad money. I know that British television doesn't have ads the way that US television has... but still...

Same here... I have been spoiled just a little by some of the posts without warning. I have been staying away from the forums where PK Wars is heavily discussed for just that reason.

The BBC has no adverts at all. They get their cash through licences that everyone with a TV has to pay (I think it's £120 a year). There are three other "terrestrial" channels but they all have adverts.
However, the BBC has seemingly dropped science fiction and fantasy from their budget entirely. I am hard pressed to find any sci-fi on their channels. I know they are supposed to be doing some more Dr. Who, but I've just had a look for the two main "genre" shows they have (Star Trek and Buffy) and come up with nothing.
There are rumours that, if the mini comes to the BBC, it will be on BBC3. Sadly, that is a digital channel that requires special packages and equipment to receive it (or Freeview, which is another £120, but it's a one-off payment).

Well, spoiler junkie that I am, I'd like to say I won't be here until I get my tape from my lovely tape fairy, but I so know that I will be here.:D
What I'd like to know is if there's going to be a live chat anywhere, with US people doing a live running commentary? I used to visit ones when The X-Files was on, and it was brilliant! Does anybody know of any live chats planned?
