View Full Version : Anyone else did this besides me?

Since I work in a grocery store -- and a rather busy one at that -- my hours are always hectic and unusual. I could get six days of seven-hour shifts, or four days of twelve-hour shifts -- I never know. Or sometimes, especially with the hurricanes going on lately -- five days of twelve-hour shifts. Blegh.
Thus, I had no idea what my schedule would look like for Sunday and Monday. Which Sunday and Monday, you ask? No, you probably aren't asking that -- and if you are... what the frell are you on!?
Anyway, what I'm asking is... anyone else requested those two days off? I sure as heck did. Requested them off three weeks ago. :D

Well if I wasn't a stay at home mommie I would have. As it stands hubby has standing orders to keep the toddler occupied while mommy watches. The newborn I'll just have to keep handy for feedings, hubby can change the diapers.
well, I've had a damn rough year, so I'm all out of time off! grrrrrrrrr. I'm just gonna roll with it, go to work tired, I don't care. I'm so frickin EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

When I ask for dayz off for something of that nature; I call it a "family reunion." That way they give me the days off and I havn't lied.
I find its MUCH easier than trying to explain these fictional characters are that important to you.

I said I'm visiting my mom.
After that, I came home and called mom; told her I'll be at her house, watching The Peacekeeper Wars with her, on her 60-inch. :D

I did not request that Sunday off but I did request that Monday off. I only work until 6pm on the weekends soI had no worries about Sunday. During the week, however, I had to request that off since I can work until 9 pm and they love scheduling me until 9pm. I didn't want to risk anything so I just requested it off.

I sure did request off for Sunday night and Monday night. Our schedule only goes until Sunday, so I know I have that night off. I'm sure I'll get Monday off as well, and if not, I'm taking Monday off. I wouldn't be able to work knowing that the finale of the mini is on, even if I am recording it. I'd almost rather get fired then miss PK Wars (sad, I know).

I can freely set my own schedules at work, so no worries about conflicts there (working Saturday is making me nervous enough as it is!) What I did was to schedule my fall classes REALLY very very light...So If the mini was this fall (as it happened to be) I'd have time to watch and rewatch the mini...Problem is...I've got a final Monday....:) So I've been studying my ema off, so's I can stay up all night Sunday and rewatch the 1st part of the mini! Forget school..forget grades ...IT'S NEW FARSCAPE!!!!! (Is anyone else suddenly screaming at the top of their lungs, quite frequantly during the day that NEW FARSCAPE IS SUNDAY!!!!!!???)

Not having to work on Oct 17 and 18 is the upside of being unemployed.

You know I started to ask for Monday off too (I already have Sundays off) because I figure I'm not going to be able to concentrate on work. (Hell, I’m having trouble concentrating on writing this post I’m so frelling excited!) But I really can’t take another day off because I’m saving up vacation time to “book end” the convention and Thanksgiving. (I guess I could always call in sick.;) Anybody going to do that on Monday?) So, I’ll be at work Monday with my head spinning :crazydanc – I hope...
I still have this underlining fear that it’ll be like the X-Files movie. I was sooooooooooo excited and had such high expectations about that (HUGE X-Phile here). I did take off work for that and then it was sort of … well … not as good as expected. (How the hell did they get back to civilization without the snow cat?! :irked: ) I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high just in case (good reviews or not) but, MAN! IT’S HARD! Isn't it?
And am I the only one fearing a major bout of depression starting in on the 19th knowing that it could be another very long wait before we get more? Argh! :grumpy: :(

 Reaches for the paper bag again...:faint:.
I try not to think about it.
*Edit: To answer the original question...it's my school's fall break, so I don't have class on Monday or Tuesday :D. I couldn't have planned it better if they'd consulted me!

Yeah, I'm trying not to think about it, either. Actually, I'm glad we're going to Valley con & remember that sciffy is running it again on the 24th!! So, we can enjoy all the excitement twice!!

Hey Jeff - long time no...whatever. I don't work Sunday and I'll be home in time on Monday, but I have cleared my calendar of anything else and let everyone know that I AM NOT AVAILABLE. (Unless of course they want to come over and watch with me.)
Actually I've been enjoying the last couple of weeks - the sense of anticipation and knowing that something really good is gonna happen soon. As for after, well...I don't wanna talk about it.
