I went to the pizza place down the street for lunch. I had no cash on me, so I hit the ATM first and took out $40. Then I went to the pizza place and ordered a couple of slices, which came to $3. When I got back to the office, I noticed they only gave me $7 back. So I went back and told the guy he owes me ten dollars. He immediately said that I gave him $10, not twenty. He was "more than 100% sure," he said.
He asked if I was sure I gave him a twenty. And while I didn't actually look at it, I only had two bills on me, which came from the ATM. The ATM, like 99% of the ATMs around here, only dispense in multiples of twenty. I had a reciept showing I took out $40. So unless the ATM somehow got a ten stuck in their with all those twenties, I gave him a twenty.
He did finally give it to me, but really fought me on it and made me feel like I was ripping him off. An interesting thing to point out...he counted the money in the register and compared it to all the orders from the day and it came up eight dollars off. That means they made more than one mistake today.
I've gone there before and never had any problems. Maybe he was up late last night watching the 9 hour Sox game.

Its easy to make mistakes. Thats why I always make sure of what I have and what I spend. I used to be a cashier at various places and also a bank teller. Ive never been not even a penny off on my cash drawers. I know how cash machines work and chances are it was his fault..not yours or the machine.

Nothing wrong with making mistakes. It's when you refuse to admit you made one that's the problem.

I once found, on the street, a wallet with x amonts of rubels, pounds and dollars, amex, visa, diners, master, and an identitycard from the russian embassy. In other words - valuables from here to kingdom come. I grabbed a tram to the russian embassy, told the imbecile at the reception what I had found - handed the stuff over whereupon I was rather briskly told to "sod off". Not that I expected a banquet in my honor, but for frell's sake... But I am rambling...

I've never been told to sod off. So I've got that going for me.
I see what's coming next...

I've had that happen, both ways. I too use to do a lot of cashier work. It wasn't uncommon for $24K in cash sales to go through my register in one day. So I always check my change. But there have been a few moments when a cashier thought I gave them a $20 when it was really a $10. Proper proceedure is to get a manager to handle it, just pay the money or if the cashier really feels like they are being scammed, wait until the drawer balances out. It isn't worth the ill feelings of a regular customer.

I was just checking the Pizza Parlor Operator Community message board. You have officially been branded a rabble rouser. a troublemaker, a no-goodnik. Now you've done it--next time thru there you may get some "extra cheese."

generic_screenname. you bad boy! it's your fault that you know 20's come out of the ATM.
haha, playing around. but in my opinion, you were right. there is no need to get jipped. sounded like it was an honest mistake. i got jipped once and was kicked out of the store for life for b*tching that i want my money back.

LL has a point. And I don't think I'm the one to spin this positively. I got told off by a clerk the other day because I told her she gave me back too much change. She refused to admit she made a mistake. She gave me change for a $10, and I had only given her $5. She was actually mad that I was being honest. So...$5 extra for me. :woohoo:

If you volunteer to be an usher, you can see the Blue Man Group for free. I did that a month or so ago with some friends and my brother. All you have to do is show people to their seats before the show and clean up afterwards. My brother made $5 in tips for showing people where to sit. He doesn't work there! He got to see the show for free AND made money! Sheesh...

I got the wrong amount from an ATM one time. I didn't realize it until a few hours later. It took several days to clear it up, but I was right and they were wrong!! :D
When I was in college i used to usher a lot. I got to see a lot of free things!
Places used to beg for ushers at one time, now they mostly have more than they know what to do with. The retired crowd found out about it and invaded!!

:lol I was at an outdoor concert once, and I was in the front row. I had to pee really bad (ok, so I really wanted a beer), but I didn't want to lose my place. So I promised the people standing behind me that if they would let me back in, I would go on a beer run for everybody (they had to give me tickets to pay for them). I had the order written on my arm clear to my elbow. They let me back in, and some of them gave me a beer as thanks. I ended getting my spot back and getting enough free beers for me and several friends. I think it worked out rather well.
