Hubby got the official orders yesterday. We're bound for San Antonio Texas. :D YAY!!! We've been hoping to get out of Jersey (sorry Jerseyans) and our house is currently falling down around our ears, so it will be nice to leave that behind as well.
Thing is...we need to be there no later than the last day of February, so we have about 90 days to get things settled, in order, and MOVED. Chaos reigns supreme once again in Twichiedom. But that's okay. If things aren't chaotic, I'm thinking you're probably dead right?
Anyway...just wanted to share our news with everyone.
(Oh..and the HQ for the Air Force MWR program just HAPPENS to be in San Antonio. They have no idea what they are in for...eh? LOL!)

Congrats Twich! Y'all will love SA. I grew up there and there are plenty of things for families and adults to do. For Fiesta you definitely want to get a babysitter one night and you and Mr. Twich head down to NIOSA (Night in Old San Antonio). It's filled with live music (all sorts) and tons and tons of wonderful food.
And just so you don't get all Mexican'd out, pop up to New Braunsfels and enjoy the wonderful German heritage of that area. There's also some, less commercial, in Fredricksburg, home of Admiral Chester Nimitz, but that's about an hour away. Of course, in Texas anything within 3 hours is close and "up the road a bit" ;)
If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer, but hopefully Scapers currently residing in SA can give you more up to date info. I visit annually, but that's not the same as living there.

I've only visited San Antonio once. It was during a WorldCon. The people seem friendly, the atmosphere relaxed, the climate...well better than much of Texas I suppose. I'm more into the climate in the northeastern US but for those who like heat it's great. Besides,as you seemed to have had an unpleasant time in NJ it must feel wonderful to know that will all be behind you soon. Congrats !

Very cool Twich - my Mom (& grandparents) spent over 20 years in SA (until they moved to KY to be closer to me!!!) and needless to say, we visited them many times. Beautiful city, LOVE RiverWalk, the Alamo (remember it??? LOL), and many other touristy type things there. Hope that all goes well with the move - I was a Navy brat and Army vet, so moving every now and then was situation normal for me.
