I was thinking that maybe, if people were interested, we could do a Holiday Card exchange, similar to what we did for Valentine's Day. Would anyone be interested?

Unfortunately, the few boxes I had to send via USPS instead of UPS Overnight never arrived back then. I feel really bad about that.

So ... For those who didn't receive Valentines (Kurt, hw, and a couple of others), I *promise* to include extra-special goodies to make up for it. And even if those people choose not to participate this time around, they'll still get those extra-special goodies.

Last time, everyone interested PM or e-mailed me with their name and mailing address. When sign-ups were finished, everyone who had signed up got a list of *screennames only* of everyone else who's signed up. (There were some privacy concerns, so I was the only one who had everyone's address, and I "lost" them as soon as the project was over.)

Then, you bought cards, candy or whatever for as many people on the list as you wanted/could afford to give to. Some people got/made small cards for each person on the list; others could only afford to send to a few people. I believe there were about 40 people who participated at Valentine's Day.

Then everyone mailed everything to me. I sorted it all and sent each participant a single package containing all their stuff from everyone.

Well, it looks like we've got at least 7-8 people interested so far, so I say we do it! :woohoo: (Have I mentioned how much I *love* sending/getting holiday cards? :D )

Ok, this is what I'm thinking time-wise. (Please feel free to suggest any changes if you have a better idea!) People can "sign up" through November 30--for the next two weeks. I'd like to have everything in-hand here by December 15, which will give everyone two weeks to get stuff ready and get it to me. I'll have everything sorted and out the following day, so everyone should get their stuff before Christmas. I apologize to anyone who celebrates Hanukkah, but we just won't have time to get stuff together by then!

So, what I need from everyone is an address. Oh, and if you prefer "holiday" (non-Christmas) cards, please let me know. I have a lot of friends who are Jewish, and some of them are very particular about not getting *Christmas* cards, so I try to be careful of that.

Dollar Stores will be a great place to find inexpensive holiday cards. Or you can print your own.

On November 30/December 1, I'll send out a list to everyone with the names of the people participating. Once you have the list, you buy/make a holiday card/postcard/note for as many people on the list as you can/want to. You can sign the cards, or not, as you choose. Then, you put them in an envelope/box and send them all to me.

I sort through everything and make a single package for each person, containing all the stuff they got from everyone else. Because it all goes through me, I'm the only one who will know how many cards you did/could send.

When we did this in February, very few people could afford to send a Valentine to everyone. (Of course, we had about 40 people participating!) Many of the ones who did either made their own or bought the boxes of kids' Valentines for just a few bucks. The rest either picked names radomly or sent to those they were friends with. Fortunately, enough people participated that everyone got lots of goodies!

It's the thought that counts. Not everyone receives a lot of holiday cheer, and this is just a fun way to spread the love. You DON'T have to spend a lot of money, or send anything fancy. Heck, just print out little notes/cards/postcards on your printer, sign each one and throw them in an envelope! Just make sure that each one has the recipient's name on the outside, or I won't know who it's for. :)

Not secret, just a chance to pass around good cheer. Kech just limits the giving out of addresses to just herself, so those who don't like posting their address online for all the world to see, will have some privacy.

If you want to participate, just say so. When Kech asks, then send her a pm with your mailing address. She'll give you her address the same way. You then bundle all the cards you wish to send to Scapers and mail them to her. She seperates them into packages. All the cards Scapers sent to you, Kech then mails them to you.

For Valentines, some people who had close or dear friends may have sent a bit more than a card. Some people sent a piece of wrapped candy to each person. Others, who didn't know each other well sent cards. It really was quite fun.

Ah.. gotcha. Well, I certainly won't have a stalker... no Ben Browder/Brad Pitt am I! ;) And I work in a shipping dept, so sending stuff out is a breeze! :)

there's a possibility that if i sign up that i'll miss the package altogether. i'd have it sent to my school mailbox, but i wouldn't be able to get it until january :-\ because i might not be home the first two weeks of christmas break. i might go visit friends before going home, and i think my parents might end up going out of town so they couldn't receive the package and now my brain hurts.

if i sign up would it be possible for you to mail my package later than the others? as long as there aren't any perishables like cookies. cause that would incite an "ick" factor when i got the package a while after everyone else does.

I believe that is I mail via Global Express Mail on the 15th or 16th, you should have them before Christmas. I seem to recall noting that GEM only takes about a week, as long as there are no holdups in customs.

The Valentine's exchange was a blast. I think the number we had participating was 45. Lots of interesting and sweet things arrived in the mail. It was the biggest haul of Valentines that I've gotten since elementary school. It felt good to get an envelope full of cards. I truly enjoyed sitting there reading every one of them.

Do you still have my address? It's the same as before.

Marvelous idea! I accept Christmas Cards. Hannukah cards. Kwaanza cards. MasterCards... heheheh... Seriously. I think that if you celebrate something besides Christmas, then send that. This way we can experience everyone else's holiday.

I've asked people to note if they prefer non-Christmas cards. I know a number of people who celebrate other holidays this time of year, and I didn't want anyone to be offended. So far, no one's said anything about preferring non-Christmas cards. If someone does state a preference, I'll note it on the list that I send to everyone.

Sorry Kurt, mom and I were out at the vet this morning visiting one of the cats. We took Miss Cleo in on Sunday because she wasn't eating, and looked a bit yellow. She's got a serious liver problem, and has been at the vet's office hooked up to an IV ever since. We're hoping to bring her home tomorrow or Thursday, but it's still too soon to tell if she'll respond to medication and recover. I did get your PM, and I replied with my home & cell numbers.

My faboo Mr. Postman just delivered three more packages ~ Pip_The_Great's, JadedLegend3's and I-am-so-Johns-girl's. Also, I printed yours out ok last night, Starburst.

This means that I'm waiting on just 12 more packages, and at least 5 of them should already be in transit.

I would like to apologize to everyone about our cards. I had every intention of using 3 different colors of glitter to decorate our cards...but, by 10 pm Sunday night, I had only done one of the colors and ran out of time. :( I just didn't finish the other 2 colors of glitter. :no: MY BAD! Sorry folks! Next time I need to allow more time to design, print and glitter the cards. :shrug:
*There's a very funny story about standing in line at our Post Office Monday morning to mail the frelling cards!
