Strangely, given Cali's nearness to Colorado( you can make it to Riverside County from Golden in a decent day's drive), I have had the hardest time finding Killian's Red. First it was a problem living in Monterey, finally we got some at the local Ralph's (slightly o/t, but even though it's a man's name it's a really bad name for a grocery store chain).

Then I moved to San Diego, yup, no Killian's. I've lived here for more than a year and never found it in the local grocery stores or liquor stores. Well, tonight I was in the local Ralph's (what can I say, it's closest, clean and I like the store layout) and what's in the beer cooler but Killian's. And as an added bonus, it's on sale for $5.99. :woohoo: Happy Scaper here. Needless to say, I bought 2 six packs.

I've always liked more to my beer than a pale american pilsner. I love the darker and heavier lagers and ales, moreso ales, but not so much on the stouts. Anyway, I'm just happy to have my favorite domestic brew available. :D

I like to pretend it's Welsh and call it "Rafe's".

I love a good beer, and agree with you totally on the weak pilsners. Ick. Give me a nice red or brown ale and I'm a happy girl. Or a Porter. Fuller's London Porter. Yum.

AFD, I only mentioned it because I did that drive when I moved out here. I was excited about moving during the summer when I could take the northern route across country, having done Christmas moves the last two times. Even on the southern route we had snow in the AZ/NM high desert. Lots of snow the second time. We made it through Roswell minutes before they closed the road.

I appreciate the offer to bring me something, but I'm a happy Scaper now. ;) BTW, I made a stop to tour the brewery when I drove through Golden. What a great travel break that was. *hic*

wg, we live a bit north of downtown and don't normally head down that way. There's a British pub in Poway I keep meaning to check out. That's a bit closer to home. But I do know the one you are talking about, I drove by it once or twice 'exploring'.

ETA: When we were in Monterey we were regulars at a British pub where our usual, pints of John Courage, would beat us to the table when we came in. It was a really great feeling to have a usual at a place. :D
