Dear Fellow Scapers...

Math is my WORST subject and I really need to get 100% on my next test.

In class, we were assigned a
project with 12 problems to prepare for an upcoming
test.
I was wondering if someone could check my work and get
back to me. I would really appreciate it!

Here is the project:

A. Greatest Common Factors: find the greatest common
factor using prime factorization.

1. GCF (18,270) I got 18 for that answer.
2. GCF (15, 18, 60) I got 3.

B. Greatest Common Factors: find the greatest common
factor using the Euclidean Algorithm.

3. GCF: (135, 315) I got 45.
4. GCF: (486, 60) I got 6.

C. Least Common Multiples: find the least common
multiple using prime factorization.

5. LCM: (32, 124) I got 992.
6. LCM: (12, 15, 20) I got 60.

D. Least Common Multiples: find the least common
multiple using division by prime factors.

7. LCM: (160, 260) I got 2,080.
8. LCM: (100, 300, 420) I got 2,100.

E. Modular Math Systems:

I am having trouble with these last four.

9. Calculate 4+12 (mod 7) 12
10. Calculate 6x9 (mod 5) 3
11. Calculate 3/8 in clock arithmetic. ?
12. Create the table for multiplication, mod 6. ?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

I have vague memories on how to do that stuff. The GCF stuff looks right to me, though something tells me that you will have to show your work for both methods. The LCM stuff looks good, too. For the life of me I can't remember how to do modular math. It's been something like 17 years since I learned that.

Calc questions I can handle much better. :D

yeah... I mostly do calculus these days. I have no idea how to do these problems! Good luck to ya though. There are lots of people here that are good at math...

Concur. Your GCF and LCF stuff looks kosher.

And I think that (11. Calculate 3/8 in clock arithmetic. ? ) = 3

..... 3x8=24 .... a factored 12 +3 = 27 .... the check is 27-24 = 3 = the numerator

ugh... it's been too long for this stuff.... time for a drink...
let me know when you get to LaPlace transforms...
