As there are a zillion versions of this song I was wondering if someone could recommend a version that's really powerful and actually uses bells. It doesn't have to exclusively be bells, but it would be nice to have some actual bells.

The versions I have are both on stringed instruments, one a harp and the other a string ensemble.

I may head out and do that tomorrow, if I find nothing on the web.

the "secretary" at my work is named Carol and is a true ding-a-ling... is this close enough?

Thats one of my fave holiday songs. I have heard one like what you are looking for. I will search around to see if I can remember what it was from. :)

Thanks BC, I scoured Amazon, but their free download versions weren't quite what I was looking for. I found one close. I may need to try the B&N, they've got a good selection of that sort of stuff and listening stations which are key. :D

bubblez, thanks for the offer, but no, not really close enough ;)

I used to have sheet music for that from choir.. but I lost it and it probably didn't have what you wanted anyway. Sorry >.<

I love that song though! It was my favorite to sing when we did holiday shows.

I just remember hearing it and it was a recording. Im just trying to remember the composer. You know it will pop in my head at 4 in the morning. It was really good too...There were strings but the primary instruments were the bells.

I also love TSO and Manheim's versions as well.

How are the TSO and Mannheim versions? More percussive or vocal? I have on Mannheim album but not that one. I was looking at them in Best Buy the other day, but drew a blank on which one I had. I don't have any TSO, though I have thought about picking something up. I'll probably get them anyway. I love that kind of stuff.

They are both awesome!!!!!! I prefer TOS though. More strings and really more of the orchestra feel. Manheim is mostly keyboards. But they are both worth picking up. I have ALL of the Manhein Christmas ones. I only have the most recent of the TOS. And if you can catch them live...A MUST SEE!!!!!!!

I think they are going to be here this year, but I hate going alone to that type of thing. I can't think of anyone I could drag to that, but I'll see what I can do.

It's not like I have anything else to do. It's on the 22nd, but I haven't decided if I'll be here then or if I'm going home. And they'd be home before I plan on being there. Guess I'll have to decide where I'll spend Christmas first.

I would also recomend the TOS version. I just got a bunch of their stuff a couple days and I've been in the Christmas mood ever since. :)

Only somewhat related, I had it pointed out to me that the Claymation Christmas is available on DVD in a holiday show pack that also has their Halloween and Easter shows. I don't remember the other two, but the Christmas one was great, especially their rendition of the Carol of the Bells.

Needless to say, I've put it on order. :D

That's both hilarious and disturbing, but I like it.

Some times ya just have to let the whole "PC" thing go and laugh (and later feel dirty and ashamed). :)
