I was able to interview seven of the winners, including:

Frunium Slip (two awards)
Selena
Sabacean Babe
AtlantaGirl (two awards)
PKGrl
BlueAeryn (two awards)
and myself :D

Tiriel and Mr. Tiriel filmed the interviews, as well as a bunch of "man/woman" on the street style interviews of attendees at todays festivities. The finished video should be fun to watch. Can't wait! I had no idea what to do, so I just winged it.

OH... and I got yanked off the stage by JeffRabb for going over my allotted time limit for "thank ewes" :rollin:

CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!! :joy:

Personally I'd like to thank everyone for voting for my avatar, but the award should really go to abbadon for making it for me, wherever he is, He is such a talent around here.

And congratulations to all the other winners and well done to all the other nominees....there is a wealth of talent out there, and I really enjoyed reading some of the fics and looking at the many works of art that were nominated, and was amazed at the hard work that many had put in for the campaign.

All hard working scapers all who have contributed to the community here, and to the campaign to keep Farscape alive.......Yey you guys!!

Since we only had 30 seconds each for our acceptance comments, I'd like to take this opportunity to do it properly.

For the Convention Organizer award, let me say that DragonCon was a HUGE team effort that was months and months in the planning and required a tremendous investment of time and energy by all the people who helped out at the con itself.

First, I want to thank everyone involved in the design and production of all the swag: FarOps for the bookmarks, postcards, and buttons; the tri-brain for the FABulous leftovers from ComicCon; Susana for the extra postcards from the postcard project; Janey_13 for the tattoos; and LilOrion for the stickers. Thank you also to those SUPER talented Scapers who sent me music videos to play in the suite and to everyone else who sent stuff for the con (particularly those who sent baby items for our charity baby shower). Also thank you to DRD2001 for her spectacular (and Frelly Award winning) plaques for the winners of the costume contest.

Second, I want to thank everyone who contributed funds to actually get all that stuff produced -- I ran the button fundraiser so I know how much effort is involved in actually getting these projects off the ground and keeping them going. And, of course, I want to particularly thank those people who bought the Irreversibly Contaminated t-shirts because the money raised from them went directly to buying the Farscape Fans and the full-page ad in the DragonCon program book as well as other expenses of the convention.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who took time out of their convention experience to help staff the fan table and the Scaper suite and to walk with the Scaper contingent in the parade. In particular, I want to thank akimbo, Selena, KosmikBloo, and vegas who went above and beyond (and I must apologize to vegas for shamefully overlooking her contribution during the nominations for the Gilina award -- she worked over 20 hours at the table and suite and was absolutely indispensible).

For the Fundraiser Award (Irreversibly Contaminated t-shirts), I again want to thank everyone who bought a t-shirt, but most of all I want to thank ratscape (who is my hero) for his fabulous artwork and for his overwhelming generosity and ever-present willingness to pitch in and help whenever needed. He also designed the Farscape Fans (even though he didn't have the time to do it) and the FABULOUS full page ad for the DC program book.

Thanks again to everyone!

Scapers ROCK! :bluenana:

Well, first in my thank you's, I like to thank all those who voted for me... in the two categories I won, I did mention multiple winner didn't I?

I also would like to thank SebaceanBabe for co-hosting the event, creating the certificates, helping keep things rolling, figuring out what the frell was printed on that one card I couldn't quite make out, politely pointing out that although I did read the nominations on the Out of There Minds card, I didn't actually read out the actual winner, where we discovered there were three cards (which might have been more obvious if I had noted the cards were numbered), and to which I only have one other comment... 'Stop prompting me woman!'

Selena for without whom these awards would not have ever been started in the first place, nor would we have had actual awards, certificates, or a ceremony, and who took so much time trying to make sure everything went off without a hitch, including printing pages of award nominees and winners...

BrowderChick for the forum sites for nominating and voting, with the help of a few others, including the creative genius who came up with a few new category names...

trubs for being so kind as to accept delivery of several pieces, er I mean, awards, being great on the interviews, and having a prepared acceptance speech...

the Tiriels for filming aforementioned interviews, and waiting so patiently while certain people wandered about instead of heading straight to the interview room...

Jeff Rab for keeping the ceremony on pace, and escorting aforementioned trubs and his long winded speech off the stage...

Creation for being so gracious as to let us have an actual ceremony...

and as to the actual awards, the gifted genius who not ony hand crafted each and every award, but who repaired them the night before the ceremony, after the destructo delivery systems had there way...

not to mention the self same creative genius behind the tech thread, no not Firedancer, me, although FD does deserve props for actually starting the thread, and all those posers, er I mean, posters, who in the dark days of the thread helped keep it going (way too many to name here, although the Favorite Australian Nurse Fan Base deserves special credit)...

and last, and of course not least, I would like to thank my parents for bringing me onto this world, and more importantly, me, for being the truly wonderful creatively gifted person that I truly am, and might I just add, all this and brains too...

*think that was OK? not a bit too understated you think? I could jazz it up a bit more...*

I guess I would've like to have known in advance, and then at the awards ceremony, they'd show all the other people and then a picture of me. And then they open the envelope, frun and TV's Jenna Elfman or whoever they paired him with would read my name and they'd show everyone that didn't win looking all dissapointed while my theme music plays and then frun would say "Generic_screenname couldn't be here tonight, but he sent a tape from the set of his new movie in Borneo."

Then they'd cut to me in Borneo with my frelly thanking a bunch of people. But I run on too long and the band starts playing for me to wrap it up, which is kinda dumb since this was taped in advance. So they end up fading to black before I finish. That would've been sweet.

I am posting the abbadon acceptance speech ....

Hiya.....just got wind of the fact I have been nominated for a Frelly...WOOHOO....Cant believed I missed the chance to dummy vote multiple times for myself.....bugger.. ...
Anyhoo...sorry I've not been around but I've had no access to the whole interweb thingy....In the sticks at the mo...but I will be back soon......Anyhoo on the odd chane I do win Something heres the acceptance....Hope it's not too long.....*as the bishop said to the actress..) ;) ....Later Abb..... :hi:

abbadon's acceptance speech...
Wow...Frell-tastic!... I've never won an award in my life.... You are now about to find out why.....this evening, before your very eyes... I've lost my laudatory virginity..... I just hope you respect me in the morning

When I look into this audience.. I see familiar faces, some unfamiliar ones. Some of you, I have met, some I haven't. Some, I might meet. Many of you, I won't. Some, I may meet and then forget that I met and meet you later and be embarrassed ... Some of you are wearing lacy white cotton panties, some of you are in boxer shorts but we are here tonight because of a common love ........beer...
Firstly I'd like to thank all those who voted for me.....(cheques in the mail..)....Secondly I'd like to thank Frunium Slip for accepting the award on my behalf.... The knowledge that the person reading the acceptance speech will actually say whatever I write here is deeply appealing.... Think about it: for the first time in my life.... possibly for the first time in anyone's life, I can make Frun say, literally, anything..... And he will... Because it's my acceptance speech...... He's not going to extemporise here, or suddenly start telling a joke about a duck trying to buy a condom ..(although it is a cracker...or is that quacker ?...)or something... He has to read what I've written........ I could make him proclaim his love of the Spice girls......, or reveal his membership in The Degrassi High fan Club........ I could write down the words "I.. Frunium Slip , am In Awe of Boutros Boutros-Ghali ...He completes me "..in my awards speech, and he'd have to say them..... I wouldn't actually do any of this, though, because Fruns revenge would be swift in coming and incredibly funny whenever he told people about it...... Well, incredibly funny for everyone except me, anyway. I'd still be in the Australian outback and being pursued by kilt-wearing, boxing kangaroo's from the KWBKLF...
Seriously I'd like to thank Browderchick ,Selena , Frun for their Tireless efforts in arranging this years Frellys as well as Trubador , tirel ,SabaceanBabe and anyone else giving up precious Con time to help out Today...Well done Team...

So, in closing, I want to say unashamedly that I flat-out cherish this neck of the woods,...we call FMD... this damp neck with its necklace of glacier ice and Blue Moon neon, with its subtle perfume of salt marsh and espresso steam, with its flaming hickey of rebellion and independence..... I love this fine and flaky community and I wholeheartedly thank its fine and flaky citizens--especially those who consistantly keep me smiling...you know who you are...and-for putting up with my fine and flaky ways..Scapedom has been good to me, and I hope that in some small way, I've been good to it, as well...

So Long and Thanks for all the fish..Abb...

Thanks DRD2001. I was just very happy to see creative people like you find ways to use the artwork. Those plaques are beautiful! ...And the stickers. And the buttons. And the banners. And the chess set...

Thanks Kyntio for your kind words. I think your work is exceptional so it means a lot! I am bummed I couldn't make it to the con. I was so close to going but it didn't work out. There were so many people I wanted to meet and you were one of them. I was hoping for a chance to talk shop with a fellow vectorizer. :)

The Gilina Award
A significant contribution to working a Convention or Con table
akimbo – for working many conventions this year from start to finish

Holy Frell!!!!!!

Seriously....who stuffed the ballot box?????

It was only 4 conventions this year and I only organized one of those. I admit 4 is a really big number for me since I hadn't really ever done them before helping njak last year, but I know lots and lots and lots of other scapers that have done lots and lots and lots of convention stuff. So I'm just happy to be in their company.

From organizing to doing artwork to donating money to working the booth there are abso-freaking-lutely too many people to thank for pulling any of the conventions off. (For me it was njak (who organized Origins and MarCon), atlantagirl (who organized DragonCon), grapeshot - and the fab ChicagoScapers (who organized too many things to mention), FarOps (for funding a lot), the FWA (for funding the rest), scorpy808, LilOrion, janey_13, zarni, Cindy, guyricardo -- OMG this list is longer than an Oscar speech and I'm sure I've not listed as many as I've listed).

Like atlantagirl said a few posts up: its such a group effort.

Wait...I get it...to anyone involved in any of the conventions I worked at it just seemed like any time spent with me was a long time and so it seemed like I was doing a whole bunch of stuff. That's it! Now I understand. Thick as a brick....Nevermind. :)

You big goofball!

I can't think of another Frelly that was more deserved than yours. The amount of work and level of commitment to have been at so many conventions in one season (not to mention ALL the work you did for the FarOps projects) plus the absolute insanity of turning around right after GenCon and flying down to Atlanta to spend the entire weekend staffing the suite and table. Zowie! That's dedication!

Bask in the glory of your achievement. It means you're a bigger whacko than most!

Well, gee. :whome:

Honestly? I haven't done a lot. Seriously. I mean I came up with the project cause I have little or no dinero to give to the cause. All I do is play middle man here...YOU all are the ones that have gotten the DVDs and Calendars and books and EVERYTHING to the troops. I just arrange delivery. Seriously...honest. There would be no military project without all of you supporting it. No matter how many people I'd call, there wouldn't be a product to deliver without you all. So...humbly, thanks, but thank yourselves too. It's a big good amazing thing you've all done here.

(And I still love ya Truby...really.)

uh hmmm.......testing...testing.......can you hear me at the back.....okay...

I would just like to thank everyone on behalf of Scrapes for this wonderful new toy. Its not like any mouse I have previously seen. For starters, its not in the least bit soft or furry. Though like most mice, it does have some rather chewable protuberances out of the top of its head....which I kinda like. Unfortunatley they seem rather well attached and as yet I have not been able to seperate them from the rest of the strangley yellow coloured body. Though I intend to work on it..

The smell is another thing........a rather acrid solventy smell........not catnip like at all.....though it is rather interesting and I suppose that I could get usde to it.....

Anyrate, scrape has asked me to pass on her thanks......so I did that, now back to dismemberment and total DRD domination.....

Shame Mister...don't make scrape have to get out the vacum again. You know how long it takes her to finish cleaning. :lol :P

So I take it the frelling thing finally arrived...

ah... I see, according to the DRD.JPG, but it's eye stalks are all bent... what the frell... come on S+M, straighten the damn eye stalks before taking the frelling pic... sheesh... people will think they are supposed to look like that...

er... wait... the one with the tape is supposed to be all bent looking...

but the other one...

and let me get this straight, no not the eye stalk this time, but this, I can ship a fragile item over seas, and not get anything but a bent eye stalk (which should be fixed I might add) and you zip 'em across a few states and they get destroyed... I don't get it...

no wait once again I do get it, or rather... I get TWO!!! That's right, I'm a multiple winner!!!!! (just for those who didn't know)

Have I thanked you yet?

I will...

Mine are my most treasured Farscape possession -- well, next to my DVDs of course.

One of them made it home safely from Burbank in my carry-on, but the little laser arm of the other broke off at the base. Fortunately I had it in a trusty Ziploc bag (can't go anywhere without those) so I still have the little arm. Frun, I remember you saying that you used some super special form of superglue to repair the little devils. Do I need to use something other than regular superglue? I don't want to disfigure it, as it's the only award of any variety I'm likely to ever receive. ;)

I use Cyanoacrylate super glue found at most hobby shops, it's fairly instant, dries in a couple of minutes, and durable. If you have some type already, put a few drops on paper, use a toothpick, and dab it where the arm goes (test fit first but it should go where the paint is missing) give it a while, if it holds, you're golden, if not, the hobby shop...

And you won TWO awards, so no matter what, you are a multiple award winner!!!!!! ... just like me... and that's not too shabby, if I do say so myself, which I do as a matter of fact...

The check is in the mail...

so to speak...

And glad about the cat thing, but more importantly, if you're gonna post a pic, and the frelling eye stalks are leaning to the side, for goddess' sake, straighten 'em up first, or everyone is gonna think all DRDs come with eyes that lean over to the side...

er... the one with the blue tape is supposed to be a little... askew... but not the other one...

*ignore the last comment if you just happen to have received the limited edition '1812' DRD, the frelling eye stalks and that model are NOT supposed to be bent, either one of them...

I might as well start off at the hobby shop. I don't keep superglue in the house . . . long story. :eh:

Thanks for the instructions! I'll take that on as my holiday project. :D

rats

I think 2 of the people who most loved the award plaques were Rockne O'Bannon and Brian Henson. They received a plaque each for their Lifetime Awards. I know poor Brian was momentarily rendered speechless. He then proudly held it up and declared that "THIS, is definitely going up on the wall in my office."

Way to go Ratscape :applaud: thank you for all the amazing work you have done for us over the last 2 years.
