After the Charity Breakfast on Sunday, a survey was passed out to the attendees asking what merchandise we would like to see. Since it was day 3 and we were fairly brain dead from lack of sleep, I promised Gary that I would e-mail him the url to the thread where we discussed this very topic.
To condense three pages, I compiled the following list. Please add to this if you think of anything, then I'll e-mail Gary.
Clothes:
Aeryn’s leather duster
Farscape T-Shirt in black, with just the word 'Farscape'
Ditto with sweatshirt, no hood
Black polo shirt, Farscape graphic left chest
A wallet with a front velcro opener but zip compartments for coins and space for cards and notes - Farscape logo
Messenger bag! A very nifty one in a nice black canvas....or leather w/Farscape logo
Some cool Farscape logo patches...we have the IASA ones, but I know people who would love the Farscape logo patches to put on existing jackets, tote bags, etc. a PK Pleissar Regiment patch, or how about a Gammak Base Special Research Team patch, or Raslak Drinking Team patch, or PK Black Ghost patch, or Royal Hynerian Navy patch, etc.
Jewelry:
Moya and Talyn enameled pendants (cloisonné style) or in sterling silver
A cool techie looking watch with the Farscape logo and PK COMMANDO watch with Peacekeeper logo
Farscape charm bracelet and Farscapean charms to personalize it
Keyrings with Farscape logo, Moya, PK symbol
Plastic cling style Farscape sticker to go inside the rear window (24" or larger)
Action figures:
A more realistic Crichton
Braca
Pilot
Akhna
Sikozu
Jool
Staleek
Grayza
Aeryn - in her leathers, of course
Noranti (as the exotic dancer in LAVST)
More aliens!
Qualta blade pens. Moya, Pilot, DRD 1812 and Rygel Beanie Babies. Pulse pistol and Farscape character Pez dispensers.
A folder or a journal (like Crichton’s journal in Green Eyed Monster - for all our fan fiction/vidding ideas) and general stationery.
Giant sized Farscape poster featuring the cast (this was also requested in jewel tones rather than in earth tones…something brighter)
A metal Farscape lunch box, the logo on one side the cast on the other side
The plushie Rygel they had planned but cancelled with one addition...the sound chip that has him farting helium and then the subsequent denials that Rygel is known for
How about some models for the crafters? Moya, Farscape 1 module, Talyn, Stryker, Prowler, Gammak base and Scarran dreadnought model kits that can be put together and displayed when they are done
A Farscape trivia game, Farscape playing cards and Monopoly!!!
John’s chess set
A Crichton stand up…life size (hey, they have Star Wars & Star Trek characters!)
Farscape Christmas Tree Ornaments!
A plastic pulse pistol that makes noise would be most excellent.
Farscape checks
Creation is very interested in what the fans want, so really give this some thought. Whether something like a leather duster is feasible (would probably cost $250 minimum), I dunno......but they asked, so let's give them some ideas!
I'll give this thru Sun, then e-mail Gary.
Very big hugs,
Selena

I would have loved to have had Farscape luggage tags ... I have 3 bags I travel with and ended up making my own using the PKW poster (in miniature)
I definitely would collect Farscape plates if they were for sale. I have the full set of Star Trek plates and really would love the Farscape ones. The Star Trek ones were $35 each.
The Irreversibly Contaminated t-shirts were wonderful - everyone who saw mine and didn't have one asked me where they could get one. I even had someone at Phoenix airport walk over to me and say they were a Farscape fan and where did I get the shirt. I know this was our fundraiser (SE Scapers) but the shirts would sell!
Journals with Peacekeeper covers
A Farscape letterman jacket (in wool felt and also in leather) with the logo
Farscape socks, scarves - especially a silk scarf with the Farscape cast on it would go into my collection. Other motifs that would look awesome is the PK symbol on a silk scarf.
A Farscape umbrella :D
T-shirts of course - fun themes and topics - not just the Farscape cast.
Farscape boxer shorts - polka dots (in honor of D'Argo) with Farscape on it.
Drink coasters (with the main cast - different one on each coaster)
The Hallmark Christmas ornaments is something we've been asking for, for at least 3 years that I know of. It would also be great to have the Harvey and John bunny ornaments for Easter.
The chess set :aok: a wonderful collector's item - I'd love one with Scarrans and Peacekeepers as the pawns :D
The IASA patches and the PKW and Peacekeeper and Scarran patches would be sought after collector items.
Costuming items ... maybe team up with McCalls or Simplicity and give us costume patterns like the basic PK uniforms, John and Aeryn outfits and Nebari outfits - fans would go ape over real patterns - Star Trek did it in the past with the Next Gen uniforms a few years ago - so it is doable. I would gladly part with $10 - $15 for a pattern I can use.

:applaud: Great list Egraine :hug2:!!! The one thing I would like to add is, as far as clothing goes, they need to have large sizes..XXXL!!!
Tell them I will buy everything on your list!
Selena

Yes I-A-S-J-G is so right about the sizing. They really need to cater to the larger sizes not just the really tiny ones.
Speaking of which .... I believe that if they made "little D" clothing (jackets and flightsuits e.g.) us crazy grandmothers and grandfathers would be getting them for our grand kids.

Oh! Johns tan jacket! I loved the jackets/sweaters they offered, but the tan jacket would be cool! I'd even sew the logo on myself!

How about some official merchandise using ratscape's designs? (subject to a suitable deal with him, natch).
Selena
11-25-2004, 09:14 AM
Farscape greeting cards - Hallmark of course
I once got a postcard with the Farscape Moya crew on it and it was a legit card not a fan made one .... have never seen them around since.
Postcards could include "Hi, from the UTs" and other usable greetings
Farscape birthday party themed napkins, cups, party favors and other fun stuff.
I love the Farscape pen idea - I want a few of those for gifts
Farscape mouse pads
Farscape weapons - like D'Argo's knife etc (for display) a qualta blade
Model kits - when are we ever going to get the Moya, Talyn, Farscape 1 module and PK and Scarran ships? I want a Decimator and a Dreadnought! :D
Farscape Leggo models
Farscape jammies
Farscape themed 3 ring binders
Farscape beach towels
Farscape shower curtains - with the PKW cast on it http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/spezial/Fool/bath.gif
Farscape insulated water bottles

All I want for Christmas is my DRD,
My DRD, see my DRD.
Gee, if I could only have my DRD,
Then I could wish you "Merry (frelling) Christmas."
Remote controlled with lights, sound, and articulated laser arm - smaller than full size would be fine ;)

11-25-2004, 09:40 AM
I saw a few white tees for the first time, but how bout colors other than black - like grey (or red or brown).
Some designs other than the laser background ones with the same stock photos of the characters.
I like the Ratscape idea. Or even PK_Paul or Adam (I think thats his name) the guy who did the FarPark and Fairly Odd Scapers designs. Or even the person who did the Justice League/Batman Beyond version of the Farscape crew (I cant remember his name) and ESK - a "Scorpy Inside" tee would be awesome.
Quite frankly, I think that if they look at everything that people here have had printed up in terms of shirts and stuff, they could get some awesome ideas. I think we need to get a listing of all the designs we have used over the years and also all the Cafepress shops that have gone up with Farscape-related/inspired designs for them to look at.
Lego models would be AWESOME!! So would figures and ships in the tradition of Star Trek/Star Wars (meaning MORE of them, not just a handful of characters). I also like the idea of ships that make noises, Moya with a starburst noise function, Prowlers with firing noises, etc. And pulse pistols with firing sounds would be cool too!

any of john's clothing, including the leather vest, would be nice.
drinking glasses in various sizes.
more bumpersticker variety.
lifesize rygel doll, with sled.

I understand that their stuff can be small for some people, but their small sizes are still way too big for some of us. Perhaps they need to work on their sizing charts. :)

They really need to cater to the larger sizes not just the really tiny ones.
They have ONLY made small sizes this year, and (probably) because it was suggested to them by me. The smallest size they had last year was a medium and it just plain didn't fit. Make the suggestion and they will listen, they want people to be able to buy their merchandise.

OK..so thismay be going off the subject a little, but does anyone know where I can lay my sweaty mitts on a farscape 2005 calendar in England??? I can't find em anywhere!!
AyuRocks

Yeah!! LEGOS!!
Hmm.. what else..
Farscape pullover hoodies (as opposed to the zip up one they had this year).
Journal, folders, stationary... general school supply stuff.
Leather - definately leather :D I would buy an Aeryn vest probably, depending on the price.
They sell pulse pistols, but do they sell thigh holsters?
Shin guards, and various other costume things, as long as they were reasonably priced.
Farscape luggage tags.
Boxers :D
Gloves and a scarf would be nice to go with the winter hat I just bought there. (Glad I did, snowed for the first time in MI yesterday.)
Chess set would be a-frellng-mazing!
Patches, mouse-pads, towels...
Travel coffee mug type thing, I have an X-Files one which ROCKS,
Posters, plushies, models...
basically everything you guys are saying already.
Ohhhh... you know those cute little Star Wars action figures they have out? Like the cute little chibi ones... Jacqui, Rebecca, Jessica and I saw them at Walmart, but I can't find a picture of them... :( but I want some of those!! That would be SO FRELLING COOL. I'd buy those in a second. (Does anyone know what I'm talking about?)
Holiday Rygel? hahahaha - http://shop.starwars.com/Product/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=471
Hmm.. muppet/farscape crossover figures :D hahah

Let's see...
The patches, Crichton's duster, Qualta blade, Talyn model, PEZ dispensors, Action figures, Farscape trivia game, Good Farscape Vid game, Pulse Pistol, chess set, Plush Rygel, R/C DRD in various styles (i.e. Pike, One-Eye, 1812, Talyn definatley Talyn), checks, Legos!, Bumper stickers, shot glasses.
Lots o' stuff, but this is what I'm mostly interested in.

OK..so thismay be going off the subject a little, but does anyone know where I can lay my sweaty mitts on a farscape 2005 calendar in England??? I can't find em anywhere!!
You can ONLY purchase a 2005 Scaper Calendar.
There is NO OTHER Farscape calendar available for 2005 - they did not make one. Brian Henson and the Henson Company approved the Scaper Calendar for 2005... so it's sorta official. It is also a piece of Farscape history and memorabilia.
If you want one, (or more) they are still available - you can send funds via paypal or a money order for them ... all proceeds fund the Military and Library projects.
Print run 1
Cost $15 + $5 o/s shipping
Print run 2 - the difference is the printing colors - it's the same calendar inside.
Cost $15 - includes the shipping overseas and local.
Send funds for each calendar to Paypal ...
ScaperJirl_GuyScape@hotmail.com
or
send a money order for each calendar to ...

My personal opinion - I would go for a T-shirt, definitely. Poster, possibly. Wallet, possibly. Action figures - possibly (I'd love a Pilot figure, as well as a Stark to go with my Rygel). Craft models - definitely (I want a Talyn!).
May I suggest a book about the making of Farscape? Not an episode and character guide, more about the design and shooting process for both the full series and the mini. Especially with an art gallery of design concepts, hi-res renders and some of the scenes.

All GREAT suggestions!! Thanks, Guys. I will allow this to grow and ferment (after Burbank, I find we have a LOT of fermentation goin on! lol), along with it's fraternal twin at Kansas, and then e-mail the urls to Gary.
RE: the 2005 calendar...Selena has the only game goin in town, in that area. Titan could not get the pics from Peacekeeper Wars in time, so will come out with one in 2006. But, since she puts out a mighty fine calendar....a good way to go!
For those who didn't go to the Con...keep your eyes out for Creation's update on their website. They made nice classic tees with Farscape Peacekeeper Wars (just the words) graphic on them. They went well at the Con; if there are any left over form Meadowlands, I imagine they will be listed at the site. They also had some great 8 x 10 glossies from the Mini.
Creation is truly listening to the fans and wants to make merchandise we will buy (they hired a new graphic artist JUST to accomplish this). We DO need to realize that it costs money to produce quality merchandise, so I imagine it will be "produce the most feasible ideas first and see how they go". It will then be up to us to support them with sales. More product would follow, if the sales warrant it.
Having been the buyer for a university bookstore (a lot of clothing, mugs and Uni imprinted products).....copywritten materials are are less expensive to produce IF produced in bulk. The less made, the more expensive the product.
Just trying to keep expectations rooted in terra firma. ;)
Keep those ideas comin, Guys!
Big hugs!

How about...
ALL OF IT. And unfortunatly I'm dead serious because I would most likely work my butt off at work to get it all.
Also I know my recently scaped friend would really love a black shirt that just said "Frell You" on the front. Something simple like that.
As for me I just hope Creation keeps putting out those great photos they put out. They really are great and my room is covered in them. Can't wait to get the new PK Wars Photos at the Meadowlands.

Ok this may be to simple but I love those little antena balls for cars. My alien fell off a while back and I would love to replace it with a Farscape themed one. Also I'm not sure if there are any or how many but I collect keychains. So would love to see a large variety. Both of these are fairly cheap and so big sellers usually.

Galactic Heroes! They are cute! Once I find out what my sister is having, if its a boy, I'm buying the lot of them (cause I want something to play with) :)

Also what about baseball jersies? With "Crichton" or "Sun" or "Scorpius" etc. with a number on the back. That would be cool.

What about ideas for Con events? We Who Did Not Have Gold Tickets want to party, too! It seems that room parties that get Crashed by Security are no fun and do NOT make us look good. A few of us thought that a party in the ballroom (DJ, Farscape music, cash bar, cover at the door) would not only made the Hotel more quiet, but give us a great opporunity to bond after the structure of the days events were over. So many ppl were split among Gold Ticket events, room parties, the bar, etc., that keeping us out of harms way ;) (for our or thier benefit? Either way, lol) would be Scaperlicious! Just a thought, but it's a thought more than one Scaper voiced.... $.02.

I would give anything for a professionally produced poster of the Peacekeeper Wars miniseries, like the cover of the CD. I love that picture! I would frame it and hang it proudly! :D
A pattern, if nothing else, of the jackets and what-not would be cool.
Love the pulse-piston w/ sounds idea, my <ahem> kids would love them!

For that, I'd say contact Hilton central headquarters. For the first time ever, I noticed a difference in the customer service and how Scapers were treated. Not sure what the deal was. Someone else brought this up and said that Hilton refused to rent them "break out rooms". In part...that may be because they are rented WAY in advance by programs. Perhaps this is something that could be looked into and booked well in advance (maybe someone with a business to make it look like soemthing more than rowdy revelers? ;) ). You're not the first I've heard that got shut down in mid party. I also wonder if it's the reason Hilton rents the ballrooms etc only until 11 pm. Creation was not the only group to get the boot and be shut down at the wee hours of the festivities.
And...perhaps this thread could be begun at another location to give it the attention it deserves? I mean this sincerely as a helpful suggestion, not "get off my thread" kinda way. My roomie was disappointed that at so many turns...there was just nowhere to go to hang out with Scapers during the late hours. (I, on the other hand, desperately needed sleep)
LOVE the idea of PKWars poster. Frankly, I was really surprised that there wasn't one. I bought the 8 X 11, but was disappointed. We worked so bloody hard to get the Mini...a poster would have been loverly.
And antenna ball...BRILLIANT! MOYA!! Or even Farscape 1.
Keep those ideas coming, Guys! Love 'em!
Big hugs!

I'd like to see them put out some tee-shirts that actually have a sense of humor to them. It's a license that they could really have some fun with, and it'd be a shame to only be able get stuff that say "Farscape" on it and such.

Thank you!
We need t-shirts with humor, and shirts that capture the bad-ass coolness of Farscape. Frankly, what they had at the con just didn't cut it! I am not into wearing the show pics shirts, or plain white shirts (I am a messy person :O ). I like shirts the likes of what we have created for the draft project, my local group and SACC. Farscape is frelling cool, and we don't need to fall into the conventional trappings of fandom.

AFFORDABLE PK tek would be fantastic, electronic pulse pistols, rifels, etc (some of us is poor folk!)
Accurate patterns for the clothing would be GREAT i.e. Johns vest/trench, Aeryns vest/trench
and being a model builder, DEFINATLY models of all the ships!
Current style (John in his PK vest and Aeryn in her PK leathers) 7" figures with posable joints (gotta have it so John and Aeryn can hold eachother :) ) that are to scale with eachother.
I agree with the PK/Farscape logo binders and stationary.
And I love the idea of an R/C DRD life sized with swappable shell for 1812.
I can think of a bunch of other stuff but that's all the triptafan is letting me come up with lol

Hate to be a downer, but purchasing from these outside sources/manufacturers really hurts Henson in the long run. I know we all do some things here (ie trading cards, drd instructions), but we aren't making a profit. Projects like those go toward spreading the word of Farscape. Also, having done a lot of research for our drd kits, I can tell you that there are some irreputable folks out there.
My suggestion...
If you want the item bad enough, let EVERYONE and ANYONE official know.
We NEED better books! I know Creation doesn't handle that type of merchandise, but I literally spoke to at least 100 people lamenting the total lack of new/good Farscape books.

Wow, great ideas!
As a generalized suggestion for apparel, I would like to see apparel that has a large logo/picture and also discreet logo/picture so that you can switch depending on the occasion.
Also, Egraine (hi btw! :hi: Let me know if you want any of the full size breakfast pictures emailed to you :)) when you email Gary you might want to ask that when they have some choices narrowed down to put up a poll on the website and send out an email to the fans so they can vote.

Hate to be a downer but how some prices the comman working man/woman can afford. $80 for a thin fleece zip jacket? $50 for a hooded sweatshirt? C'mon. some of us only have so much spare cash to spend.
Unfortunately, licensed ain't cheap. I've bought for UCD Bookstore. Anytime there are licensing issues.....add 8 to 10% JUST for the name of the school/show/business. Then, let's talk about per unit cost of the items. For a good quality Tee shirt $7.50. Add the artwork/graphics, then add the 8 to 10% licensing fee. There is also shipping. I've paid $250.00 on a $1500.00 order. THEN...let's assume that Creation wants to make some money on the item (and since they are a business)...that makes a mere tee shirt $20 to the customer. My cost for a fleece sweat shirt was $15 to $20, and again add graphics, licensing, shipping and profit. There's your $40 to $50.
I agree that being on a budget makes it hard to get all the cool stuff we want, but hopefully, the above will give you a little idea of what it takes financially to get the product to the customer. I'm willing to brown bag it for lunch if it means cool stuff.
Hugs!

Not sure if this was mentioned or not, I'm too tired to sort through 4 pages of posts. But I'd like to see the T-shirts done on white tees instead of black. I'd love to have some Farscape T-shirts but I really really don't like the black tees. Just something about black T-shirts that I can't stand.
Oh and here's something else they can do that's kinda related to this topic. How about listing all of their products on their website and making them easier to find! I just looked and under the Buy Merchandise tab under Farscape they only have 29 items listed. I know they have more than just 29 Farscape items. Hell I saw most of 'em at the con. Just a thought.

((MS)) Hey Darlin, glad you got home safe! RE: the merchandise...all of the stuff they had at the COn was new and will be at Meadlowlands this weekend. After that, Creation will probably update the site with all the info...depending on what's left. I know thye wanted to insure stock for both Cons.
My number one, can't live without, everyone would buy one, thing is a dvd of the con itself.
That made the list at Kansas too. Last I talked to Gary, licensing issues were involved. Not sure how they got around it the first year, but they haven't been able to do it since. Pity. I'd pay for that myself.
Also, Egraine (hi btw! Let me know if you want any of the full size breakfast pictures emailed to you ) when you email Gary you might want to ask that when they have some choices narrowed down to put up a poll on the website and send out an email to the fans so they can vote.
Hi Sweetie!! Woohoo and hell yeah I want pics! PM me and I'll give you my e-mail addy.
RE: e-mailing Gary...I've already given him the urls for both this thread and the one at Kansas, so he will be taking a look himself when he gets back from Meadowlands. I sort of volunteered a group of Scapers to act as a "review and make suggestions" for the graphics and product development
(a cross section from here, Kansas and some of the smaller sites), but perhaps the poll idea would be better. Since I do have the clothing background and the people I was thinking of are either avid fans, graphic artists or artistically inclined, I thought that may be a way to go, once their new graphics artist had developed some ideas. Either way, I wanted him to know that Scapers would help in any way we could to produce some great product.
Someone had mentioned in this thread about limited licensing...which I didn't realize. They are correct. Creation can only produce certain lines; clothing for sure, but not sure what other lines can be made. Frell! We may need to go further with that via Henson, because I want my damn lunchbox! LOL
Again...I just can't thank Creation enough for how hard they worked to present a great Con and now...to produce merchandise for us. They've been really wonderful. And thanks to all the great Scapers coming up with ideas. Hopefully, it will all flesh out into something great.
So...any more ideas, let's hear 'em!
Ciao, Bellas y Bellos!

For any of the tshirts made in the future to feature Pilot, he's just as much a character as any of the others
life-size remote DRDS
Farscape 1 and IASA patches
Pilot and Skarran action figures
Models of the various ships, e.g. prowler, moya, talyn, etc.
PK ident chip
Comm badge
Life-size blow-up Crichtons, Chianas, whatever character you happen to fancy
Action figures with removable fabric clothes as opposed to moulded on plastic ones, so if there is a version released with a new costume we don't get something stupid like Chiana wearing her LatP nightdress over her regular clothes. It wasn't so bad with the others, but that costume looked like dren. (Zhaan's was the best of the Farscape 1.5 collection, basically because she had a cloth dress that wasn't a part of the figure, so her costume was the most accurate of the lot.)
Qualta blade letter opener
Rygel stress toy
Jewellery - Zhaan's beautiful collar and cuffs
Life-size rygel plush (hell, it'd be way more practical than the life-size Pilot plush I want)
Ship model kits - build your own
Character standees - now you can have your own John Crichton to kiss goodnight to every nights just as your daughter does the same to her Legolas standee
weapon props and pulse pistol holsters
mouse pads
DRD eyestalks to add to your car (if your car happens to be a yellow VW beetle so much the better)
costume patterns

I would like a computer guardian. You know those various little guys you can stick on top your computer that are supposed to keep it safe.

Oh another idea how about some Farscape slammers!
You could throw Rygel at something and when he hits he farts. John could say "Share the Wonders", D'Argo could say "What the hezmana" (ok sp?).

DVD's of the recent and past Creation cons would be at the top of my list, but I'd also love "the coin" from DWTB.

Interested in a lot of the merchandise listed specially DVD's past cons. There is so much stuff suggested that I would love to buy, :) but can't afford to buy it all at one time at the con, after paying for con tickets, plane tickets, hotel etc....... So I hope whatever that gets decided some of the stuff will be on the web site to puchase over a period of time before the next con.

hey i just saw this post and i reply cause i want it to be on the top so the others see it :D
i run a Farscape Merchandise group here in Spain, it's called Farket (the farscape market) and mostly what i do is help the catalan/spanish scapers to find farscape merchandise as we have nothing here, just one or two action figures and the companions, and the store that sells them is really making benefits cause they are so expensive!
lately what i buy most for the others are the pins, the save farscape canada tshirts, the wristbands and action figures. Also got some stuff from the con last year, i going to spend a lot again this november (hope they pay in advance this time! xD) And would surely buy a lot of more stuff if it was produced.
so i'm sorry for now i don't really have new ideas for merchandising, all i had on mind has already been posted, but i'll keep thinking!
oh well! just had an idea now!
i would love busts of the cast (pks and scarrans too) like the ones of LOTR. I had an incrediible luck when i found and "orginal from set" bust of pilot for $150, when creation sold it at $2,000 definely too expensive, they should be cheaper if they really want scapers to buy them ;)

tshirts that aren't so cheaply made they're see-thru. if i'm gonna get boned for 25 bucks, then it'd damn well better be a "beefy t"
