I'm hearing rumors about a new Farscape video game being released sometime next year that picks up after the events of PKW. Can anyone confirm this or am I just hearing wishful thinking?

A clerk at EBGames mentioned it. He said it was being produced by Rockstar (Grand Theft Auto series, Manhunt) which I retorted with a sound "Bullsh!t!" I don't believe it for a second -- then again it would so rock to have a console game with the level of depth that Rockstar is known for.
Also -- the clerk was wearing a D'Argo T-Shirt so he's obviously a Scaper. I was just curious if anyone had heard about it.

It would be awesome to have a GTA style Farscape game, a game with a central plot, but if you want you can just fly around between planets in your module, explore planets and ships, and waste time flying through wormholes and stuff.
I'm reluctant to believe it because the first one didn't sell (cos it was crap), but in the hands of a good developer a Farscape game could be so good. In the same way that the Buffy game convinced me to buy an XBox, a Farscape game would probably make me buy a playstation.
I can imagine the first mission, go down to the planet's surface and buy diapers and milk.

Could you imagine a Farscape game done by the same group that did Knights of the Old Republic? Thats the first thing I thought of when I played it was how that would make an awesome Farscape game done the same way.

I've been searching the web, but can't find anything that supports this rumour. We could pitch the idea to the developer studios, but if they're going to do anything with it is another story.

That game was supposed to be made by Sierra about 8 years ago. It was to be called Babylon 5: Into the Fire.
And Sierra canned it less than 6 months from release. :gnash:

I really don't see how farscape would work in a GTA fashion. But that Metroid Prime idea was great. It should have more dialogue than Metroid tough.

Wow, all of these game ideas are pretty good. I personally would love a GTA type game where you could just go and explore anywhere and then come back and pick up some missions. Unfortunately I have heard nothing of this game. I went and researched all of my game sites and have heard nothing. I do have a meeting in a few weeks that a microsoft rep (basically a rep for the xbox) is supposed to be attending. I will ask about a FS game if I get the chance.

I wold have replied to that EBG guy with a resounding, "That's Frelling Dren!" myself. Thougt it would be cool.
I still say, Bioware or Blizzard should get the job. Rockstar is cool and all, but I don't see Farscape getting the game it deserves from them. Same for Bungie, because Farscape is so much more than shooting things. Hell, it's more about running away from things.
Xbox would be great, but so much better on PC. That would allow for the patches that games always need, and also player made content latter down the line.
Farscape RPG, Whoo!

There is no mentioning of a new Farscape game at www.tothegame.com, and they are usually pretty good at picking up rumors. I would like to see a new game coz the one released in 2002 was probably the worst game I have ever played. What type of game? Well, could I decide it would probably be a mix of HomeWorld and Ratchet & Clank. Ie lots of travelling around the unchartered terries...

I would have to say that if someone were to make the game it would have to be bioware, not blizzard or any other....
Bioware is the only firm that has real expirience with making rpg games, even thou they "stole" everything there is on rpg from Wizards of the coasts ideas.. hehe, but yea... think they could make a cool farscape game :) but it would have to a RPG game.. not some lame game like star trek elite force or something like that.. NO FPS! RPG all the way, visit all planets + extra stuff like big D's home world :D and Zhaans, Rygel and of course Chiana :D.... the concept is awesome!!! :D
Btw: it allready has been made a farscape game: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/farscapethegame/index.html?q=farscape
but its not really worth playing after watching the screenshots :D, you'll see what i mean :P

Naah, from what I can tell she's pro-gamecube. I'm not really into consoles, but if I had to make a choice right now, I would buy an X-Box. Purely because the games on that console interest me more than on any other (KotOR is great, Fable looks nice, Halo 2 also looks nice). Still, I won't buy a console. I think the PC has the upper hand when it comes to graphics. It's very noticable when I compare GTA3 on my sister's PS2 with GTA3 on my PC.

I only want a console game (XBox or Playstation2), cause its cheaper to buy a console, than it is to buy a top of the line gaming computer.
I wouldnt even attempt to play games on my computer unless I had something like an AlienWare. And at anywhere from $3000 to $5000, um...no thanks.
An online component would be nice as well. Of course, we'd have to have the ability to play as the Peacekeepers or other "baddies"

Definately an anti-X-Box comment. :aok: I wuv consoles. Sometimes prefer PC gaming though, but I still love console games.
On a related note, PS2 and/or XBox?? What about GC? I like my gamecube the best out of any console I've had and I have a PS2. All the anti-GC discrimination. Oh well, that just means people missed out on the best sci-fi adventure game EVER - Metroid Prime.

Hey whatever floats your boat but Halo is still the #1 FPS ever made. Not just my opinion but most gaming critics opinions too. Graphically it is one of the best looking console games ever made also. Storywise Half Life probably still has the best plot line around.
And what is wrong with the Xbox? It is graphically the most superior console on the market. My Dreamcast is even better looking than a PS2 which many folks agree on. The closest second is the Gamecube however GC has NO onine play which means no multiplayer and no downloadable content.

All I've got is a Game Cube, but I play 16 person Halo tournaments at a friend's house a lot. I don't have too much experience with PS2, but I used to have a PS1. Anyway, I'm just saying it would reach the most people if it was multi-platform. They could even be bastards and have a unique playable character for each console like Soul Calliber II.

Yes and Yes. :D My Gamestop guys tell me that all the time (even if the Playstation rep was standing there when they said it) :lol
I had Gamecube, but traded it in and got an XBox instead. I liked Metroid, but thats about it. They have too many Mario games. Mario was good when it was on my old Nintendo console, I'm getting sick of seeing him all over the place.
I agree that it does seem to have better graphics than the PS2, but PS2 has a heck of a lot more games that I would actually play, which I why I opted to keep that and get rid of the Gamecube.
I'm all for a multiplatform Farscape game. A GOOD Farscape game.

It is annoying that many don't even think of the GC when they think of consoles, it's my favorite. I have an XBox too, but it will be a cold day in Hell before I buy a Playstation.
I'd rather a PC version of a Farscape game, then it makes mods and expansion packs possible, also makes online play a lot easier.

I've got an Xbox, I enjoy some of PS, but I can't get behind the GC. GC frustates me.
Multi-platform would be good, but that generally means they just make the game for the weakest platform, then port up. Put it on PC, it would work the best. Besides you don't have to spend insane ammounts of money on a PC. Just have a friend who knows what they are doing build it for you. That way you only get what you need, and you save massive piles of money. I've been swapping out parts on my PC for the last 7 years. It works great, and I'm able to keep it competitive, by just getting new things when I can afford them.

when it comes to it, why cant there be a 4 way farscape game. all the consoles and the pc. they do it all the time. ive seen some screen shots of someone, who posted on here a while back, doing a unreal tournament 2004 mod of farscape. theres even a skin of chiana floating out there for unreal. personally ild love to see a slew of games about farscape.
imagine, a warcraft/starcraft style game where you pick one side of the galatic war, peackeepers, scarrens, luxons, hynerions, nebari, etc. build bases and armies, take over the galaxy one system at a time.
mix UT2004(or any amazing fps, gta vice city, halo, and some doom 3) and the game freelancer, freely walk around planets looking for money and adventure, and if the planet doesnt suit you, fly to another. become a pirate, a minor, or a freedom fighter.
take kotor and make a huge rpg where you can be good or evil.
or just a straight fps action adventure ala halo and metroid, with just a hint of half life 2.
or the best yet, a mmorpg of farscape. explore the uncharted territories in your own leviathan with your own crew of escape whatevers. meet strange new alien races, inadvertently kill them because your master plan was farbot.
so many cool ideas, so many different types of games that could make for an awesome farscape adventure. the key to a farscape game, is to get a company that already makes good games, and have them make it. but, i think that there should be different brands of farscape. different companies, who specialize in a style of game should take control of the title that is set for that genre. i say that cause half the time we get a licensed property game, its made by some unknown group of people who dont really know how to play games or make games that are fun. or even look good.
take the original farscape game, yes i bought it. i played it, got stuck at a certain part that alot of people got stuck at, the factory with the sheeyang threat because of some frelling bug in the game. i so wanted it to be awesome. in the end the game was merely a time killer cause it wasnt that great. had it not had the farscape title, i doubt it would has many sales had it did in the first place, i dont believe it had that many in the first place.
Or even this: ;) ;)

I personally like the idea of a fps/fpa with open ended gameplay like The Chronicles of Riddick. That game was proof that a good licensed game could be made. Not only did it have awesome gameplay, but it nailed the atmosphere of the Riddick universe.
Nailing the atmosphere is important to me, and I want to be able to say I could see that happening in an episode of Farscape.
In response to the comment that an unknown developer can't make a good licensed game, Starbreeze was an unknown developer.
I'd love to see another Farscape game (a good one this time). I want one done right this time around. I think the ultimate Farscape game would benefit from a Scapers imput on how it should be gameplay and storywise.

i have yet to play the riddick game, and saying that unknown game developers cant make good gamed is a bad statement. most game companies were small unknown companies when they made their first hit games.
but, after seeing so many failed licensed games from big and small companies, ild like to see a company with a real vision take ahold of the game. there are so many different game styles you can make with it. its a possible game franchise that could so easily dominate if done right. so many different genres. fps, strategy, rpg, space sim, ild love to see a game for every style of play.

I really hope they do make a new game, hopefully a gaming company that actually knows what the public is interested in. I personally think the first game was crapola. I was pretty disapointed in it.
Maybe if someone like LucasArts made the game (they have done some fantastic things in the past like Monkey Island Series and Jedi Knight series).

I am all for this idea. If I had some talent I would help out, but yeh, I don't. I think I also suggested this idea ages and ages ago when discussing the original game, cause quite frankly I think the original game sucks.
There are some very talented people around the board so I reckon it could be done.
