Half of them aren't strangers Girlie. There's a bunch of Scapers over there helping to perpetrate the "thunk" threads. Anyway, I think that it's a good sign that this started up immediately. Some of them just might get redirected to the Chrichton Shrine over at Kansas. That will grab their attention. :)

I've already noticed a significant increase in new handles over there since yesterday...

We'll Scape 'em all eventually. ;) One way or another...

Them? Not so excited. I joined this board over a year ago, being a Gater, but newbies get flamed so unmercifully there it wasn't worth it. We need to send these ppl some good Ben vibes, let them know it's not going to be as bad as they think!

But they need to be able to bitch, just as there are plenty of people over here bitching about how terrible it is that Ben has gone over to the "enemy" and how awful SG-1 is :D.

Frankly, if we were in their position, and Brian Henson was saying, "Well, Claudia Black may not be in the next Farscape at all, and Gigi Edgley's going to be missing most of the time, but ... LOOK! We've got Michael Shanks as the new lead!", I'd be going, "Errr ... W.T.F.? Excuse me???"

And of course "hating the new character" is traditional in all fandoms, ours included - I remember when I got into Farscape, half the fandom still hated Chiana (and yes, that makes me feel old).

Give 'em some time to adjust.

Then if Ben can't charm them, no-one can.

i find that all very curious. i get it intellectually, but i don't share it so it's strange to watch. i wait till a character actually sucks, as in having watched the show with the new character(s) in place, before i get all wound up about it. if i get wound up about it at all.

Actually, I feel kind of bad for the Stargate fans. :( The Stargate cast changes were the result of RDA and AT's desire leave, or significantly reduce their committment to the show. The TPTB over at Stargate didn't have a choice regarding additions to the cast. Ben Browder and Claudia Black are not responsible for changes at Stargate. Stargate fans are misguided in taking their anger out on Ben and Claudia.

There is a certain amount of irony in this situation. Due to its longevity, Stargate is losing two of its lead actors. Due to its premature cancellation, the actors of Farscape are still committed to the show. The cast and crew members all made sacrifices in order to make Peacekeeper Wars.

I've seen some very positive responses, though. There seem to be a good number of Gaters who recognize that the RDA and AT situation is not BB's fault, and I've seen a lot of posts saying that they think it's potentially a very good idea to bring in someone new for the remaining cast to bounce off, and that they rate BB highly as an actor.

In an equivalent situation, I'd expect us to be being a whole lot crazier :D.
