I signed up for a U.S. Treasury Account today, and it asked me to answer 3 security questions. One of the questions was: "What's your favorite song?" I was shocked by the audacity of this question. First, it assumed that I have a favorite song, and could differentiate in infinite degree between the thousands of incredible songs that I've heard in my lifetime. Second, it assumed that I would actually remember which song happened to be my favorite in December of 2004, whenever I might forget my hastily chosen U.S. Treasury password. Needless to say, I refused to answer the question. The nerve. I mean really!!
But it got me t'thinking. What is my favorite song right now? Because honestly, my favorite song changes, on average, about every 30 days. At the moment, I think my favorite song is "It Ain't Over Til It's Over" by Lenny Kravitz. And I say that because I seem to be playing it in my car every day, and singing along loudly (and badly). I have even tried to get people in traffic to sing along, but strangely they don't seem to know the words. Or perhaps my car really IS soundproof.
Other artists that have made it into the "favorite song" trophy case in the past few months: Sting, Seal, Sarah McLachlan, Sade, Belly, Alice in Chains, and Jane's Addiction.
And finally we come to the point ... What is your favorite song right now. As in, what is your favorite song at this moment. Not yesterday, not what you answered last year, but what did you wake up singing in the shower today? (if that is, in fact, how you monitor what your favorite song happens to be).

I've answered this question many many times, and the answer is always the same, you can check anywhere. My favorite song is anything by The Who.
A close second would be Happy Birthday when sung to me personally with the idea that presents are about to follow.

Modest Mouse's "Float On" only because I'm vidding it as of this moment and this *shows fingers an inch apart* close to finishing it except my editor has stopped working properly and the project file has issues with being opened. And I'm blocked.
Anyway, that's my song.

I believe the Fat Lady sings the theme to the Jeffersons. Once you hear, "Movin on Up," your time is short.

Ooh, good point. Although I hate to be the ultimate traditionalist, I must say my favorite Christmas song is "White Christmas" by good ol' Bing Crosby.

heh, while I would agree that a stint on the Jeffersons, might be a good reason to pray...
That'd be Wagnerian opera ... one of the featured ends of Der Ring would be Brünnhilde who is often played by an Mezzo-Soprano [IIRC]... and some who are most famous for playing the role have donned the Horned Helmet, Chest Armor, Shield and Spear... and caused men to pray...

I don't know that it's my favorite, but you asked what's going through my head right now and it's "Jingle Bell Rock" Been singing it quite a bit lately after hearing it on the radio yesterday on the way in to work.
I don't really have favorite songs. There are good, bad and middle of the road songs for me.

Every time I hear about Bing Crosby, I think of the episode of Family Guy where he teaches Peter how to beat his kids.
Favorite song of all time: "Solataire Unraveling" by Mushroomhead

my roomate kept playing christmas music and singing along...it got very annoying.. we were in the car one time and we were listening to the radio and this parody song comes on, it was called "it's christmas in hell." it was hilarious, but some of the lyrics were a bit apalling if you just didn't go "to hell with it" and just went with the humor of it.

I've heard some very interesting christmas parodies. Walking Round In Women's Underwear is still high on the list.
