I've always liked http://www.megaconverter.com/Mega2/ There are a lot of fun units over there.
Sadly, I knew the 2.54cm/in. One of those metric conversions I just know after years of science classes.

What's really frightning is:
One Barrel of liquid (ie: oil) is 159 Litres.
One 12 oz can of pop is 0.355 litres.
159 Litres per barrel / 0.355 Litres per can = 447 cans per barrel
You pay a buck for a can of coke.
And you thought $45/barrel of oil was outrageous?

I guess its a good thing our cars don't run on coke! :D
Thanks again everyone. My hubby told me the 2.54 number, but I didn't believe him.
OOops. I'll be paying for that one!

Or how about bottled water? That ain't cheap either. :D
I know the silly things we do.
pendragon, sorry you find yourself having to apologize over that. He's not the type to hold it over you, is he? My hubby does that when he's right, mostly because he's normally the one asking me the question so when he knows and answer he really likes to rub it in.

I usually use www.convert-me.com
But don't forget to put in the dash, or you'll end up somewhere very different :D It has a lot of ads, but I'm used to it I guess.

take 1" and multiply by 2.5cm (that is an approximate equivalent) the accurate measurement is 2.54 cm or 25.4 mm
If you're only measuring an inch just go with the 2.5 but if it's a longer length then those extra millimeters become more significant.
