:thud:
I went to the Josh Groban concert in downtown Tampa last night...and don't roll your eyes at me, LL! Now I may be a little biased  (okay, maybe a little more than a little), but he is, by far, the best live performer I've ever had the pleasure of listening to/watching.
My dad got four tickets for me for Christmas, so I took my sis, my mum, and my gran. I strongly recommend at least giving him a listen. He's a popular artist with a classical twist (or maybe it's the other way around). I just thought I'd throw that out there, because I'm hopelessly obsessed. Josh does for music what Farscape does for television (for me, anyway).
:D
The man does have an incredible voice. However, I do admit his popularity probably has more to do with the fact that he looks pretty pinchable and wholesome and safe, even to little old ladies, said little old ladies would like for their granddaughters to date someone just like him, and most of the granddaughters agree. He's a very wholesome package that way. If he were less "cute and nonthreatening", I don't think his appeal would be as broad. And I'm not knocking cute and nonthreatening by saying that. I could do with fewer Britneys and Marilyn Mansons, personally, and more performers who can actually, you know, perform.
And I agree that the DVD/CD combos I bought featuring him proved well worth the extra cost. He does wonderful live performances, it would seem. And it was pretty hilarious watching the backstage features and seeing just tons and tons and tons of women of all ages streaming into his concerts. I don't think I saw a single man among them. So guys, if you're looking to pick up a girlfriend, I think you could do worse than going to a Josh Groban concert. You might be one of about ten males out of thousands of people. And his singing is phenomenal.

Ya know, I saw a lot more guys than I expected to at the concert. There was a dad with his two daughters and his wife (the girls couldn't have been older than 9, and completely in love with Josh). I do, also have to agree that his appeal is partly due to his appearance. That's not what first drew me to him, as I had no idea who he was or what he looked like when I first heard "The Prayer" with Charlotte Church. But when I went to buy his CD, it was much to my surprise to find a twenty-year-old American boy's face on the album cover instead of the forty-something plus Italian I expected to see.

I think I'll stick with the Subliminal Verses Tour; Slipknot, Shadows Fall, and Lamb of God, live!
I would like to see Otep, Opeth, or Mushroomhead again.

He's that guy that looked like Doctor Who at the Super Bowl a while back, right?

Ummm...okay. :dunno:
*Edit: Now that I reminisce on pictures I've seen of the Doctor (I've never actually watched the show), yes, you're probably thinking of the right person.

That's okay, it's not a bad thing. One year they had James Brown and he looked like Cornelius from Planet of the Apes.
Actually, he does have sort of Doctor Who hair... and with the long coat, I can see the confusion. Thankfully, he was more tastefully dressed than Janet.

:rollin: that is exactly what I thought when I heard him at first too! I didn't think anyone so young could be that good! I wish I could see Josh live, but he always comes to boston when I've got something going on and tickets sell out VERY fast, so I don't know how much of a chance I'd have anyway... :(

I missed out on the first round of his tour by a fluke, really. I missed him by, literally, four days when he was in Tampa, and a week when he was in Charlotte. It was around spring break. But my mum gave me a club membership which gave me early access to tickets.

Well, I don't know about you...:innocent:.

Yay!!!!!!! I absolutely love Josh! My mom and I saw him live. He blew me away. The man has a gorgeous and powerful voice (it completely surrounds you at the concert) and it sounds even better live than on CD. Yes he's clean cut, sweet, and kinda dorky. I really don't care. At least he's real. And don't be dissin the curls, I'm absolutely a sucker for guys with the "cupid look". Short curly hair with emphasis on "a maintained look"--notice I didn't say frizzy. My musical tastes range far and wide and I can appreciate REAL talent, besides he excellently played a few instruments live too. I don't limit myself to just punk, pop, rock, metal, etc...

I'm not worried . I can take him . I'm ready for whatever he has to say . In the meantime, I'm just gonna listen to more Josh .You'd take me to one of his concerts and then listen to whatever I had to say? *sigh* As tempting as that sounds, I think I'll stick with listening to people with good voices sing... :P
Anyway, I'm glad Josh showed you a good time. :innocent: :ewink:

Okay! I kid. Here he is... for real. And the sad thing is that I went out of my way to find this. I don't even really like the guy. I mean, he seems like a nice enough person, and his singing is fine, but, well, he's just not my speed.
As for great live shows, U2 never disappoints.
