Tonight thru tomorrow we are supposed to get our first snow and ice of the season....up to about 3 to 4"....note I said inches not feet. I want the snow, but not the ice. :( I had to go to the grocery store earlier for a few things that I had run out of. I should have known that down here in the South, when snow is even hinted, the grocery stores become a madhouse. :lol I stood in line for 15 minutes. I've been a Southern girl all my life, you'd think I'd be used to this....the long lines because of the arrival of snow.:lol Now as I'm watching TV I see weekend schools,Universities and some city functions that were to go on tomorrow, canceling. I've already seen two churches announce that they will not have services Sunday. Ahhh life in the South in winter...granted, we do not have the all the equipment to clear the roads down here like some of you have up North and in some of the other states, so the roads do stay pretty messy for a while....but I still get a kick out of the panick. :lol

Well so far we have about 1" of snow :) and a solid sheet of ice. :( We are supposed to keep having the snow/sleet/freezing rain mix all the way up until late tonight. It was an adventure a chore just to get to the mailbox....ok so I slid to the mailbox :lol

You must be getting hit with the same weather system that we are. So far, you can still see the asphalt and the grass. And what is the local news station telling us... "Please don't call 911 to find out the temperature, to ask how the road are or to see what business and churches will be closed. And if you lose power, call you power company, not 911."

Yes, it sounds like it. Most of the South is getting hit with it. The pavement and grass is covered with snow and ice. Early this morning the snow was the powdery kind...now you can't get to it because if the ice. I looked on the weather map and there is a lot more heading our way....for most of the South it seems.

Whats the level up to now? about 2" of snow and maybe 1/2" of ice ontop of that...and it's now mostly coming down as sleet/freezing rain.

She did. Here's the pic she sent me.:lol I must have fallen face down to get that picture.

I have been enjoying the snow in my Mazda 323GTX. Nothing like too much horsepower in an all wheel drive vehicle with snow tires on. I will take any snow that no one wants... free of course. ;)

You can have all you want. I dont really mind it...If only the road crews could figure out how to move it... The streets here are crazy. But it does fill in the potholes. :lol

You know, reading this thread has reaffirmed my happiness at living in beutiful, sunny, snow-free South Florida! It may be the armpit of America, but I walked around in shorts yesterday and slept with all the windows open last night! :D

Reminds me - I haven't fallen this winter. I usually wipe out at least once before spring arrives!

Technically, that's the Marintines, which just got hit by a rather large Atlantic storm.

I live in chinnok country where it's :snowman: for a week and :sun: for a week and :snowman: for a week, and :surf: for a week and then :snowman: for a week and then :por: for a week...

It doesn't snow this far south. Not that often anyway. When it does snow (appx. an inch or more) all hell breaks loose. Interstate is shut down. People barricade themselves in their houses, duck and cover and all that. I've been to bars during hurricanes because they were having a drink special, but if it snows a half-an-inch I'm shutting the blinds and tuning into my radio for further instructions.

And hey, those hurricane drink specials are darn good, man!! :rollin:
