It is snowing here... finally! We really don't get it that often, but I have seen it before. But this snow is coming down in chunks. It is lumped up, about the size of a quarter or a cotton ball. Obviously, it isn't packed tight, but it is weird to see. Does it snow like that often? Has anyone else seen snow like that?

Yep. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's not exactly rare. Usually happens when the snow is really really heavy and wet out here. And those are the storms that we usually measure in feet, 'cause it accumulates fast.
On the bright side, it's perfect snowman snow, so strap your boots on and go have fun!

Well, the big chunky snow has stopped, and now it is icy sleety now. The joy of snow in the south is that EVERYTHING shuts down. So keep your fingers crossed for me that I get a snow day on Monday. :D

After a fun day spent snowboarding in the mountains, I got to sit through 5 hours of driving home on a drive that should take no more than 2 hours. That sucked. And all thanks to slushy wet snow that made it difficult for semis and 2WD cars to drive up hills in. They actually closed the highway 7 cars behind us! We were cursing ourselves for the entire hour and a half we spent sitting on Floyd Hill for not getting off when we could
Gotta love that snow. It was sunny earlier, and then BAM! Roads went to hell. I blame this drive mostly on the semi drivers who wasted much time trying to get up the hill before putting their chanes on. sigh.

Just got some chunky snow here also. To bad there aren't any real ski slopes around here. I'd love to go.

Ours is gone already. Hardly any to begin with. It turned to sleet and ice early on. Today is was in the low 50's, sunny and quite nice. Ice gone, snow gone. No snow day for me tomorrow. :(

It happens in Northern Illinois. Not every winter, but some winters it happens
several times. Makes wet, heavy snow -great for snowmen and snowball
fights and forts. :snowman:
